Ever wanted to write lore for your clan? Don't know where to start? Start here! I have all kinds of weekly lore prompts to help you out! Do one or do them all. Every little detail helps. If you’re an advanced player that already has basic lore down, this is an opportunity to polish up that thing you wrote a few years ago.
This week is your week to really think about the details of the topic and bring your clan to life! There will be a different topic every Friday so you can work on it at your leisure but gives a little nudge towards working on lore. Setting aside time for lore writing is very important, so think of this as your FR homework and try to do it at a certain time on the same day of the week. Getting a schedule down makes it so you actually work on lore. Not… how I did it and wait two years before writing the next bit to a story...
The goal of this series will be to release a different topic each week and be finished with the basics of clan lore within 6 months so anyone can participate no matter how far along you are currently.
Above all, this is a place to share the lore you have created focusing on the week's topic and discuss it with others. If you get stuck on a particular aspect, bouncing ideas off of someone else can help.
Let’s build our Sornieth together.

Welcome to Shian's Lorebuilding 101
Chapter 1. Lairs
Today's topic is all about your lair.
1. Where do you live on your flight's map?
2. What does it look like before you enter? What is the grand facade that you show to the world that this, THIS is your home!
3. Now let’s work on the inside. What facilities will you need to service your clan? Try drawing a map!
Ideas include:
Sleeping areas
Storage for: Food, Hoardstuff (what do you hoard?), Metals,
Hatchery
A place to relax or entertain
Beastmaster area for keeping familiars
Research: Library, Magic, Schooling (basic knowledge, flight school, magic training etc),
Production: Forge, Winery, Kitchen, Farms, Potions or Brewing, Textiles, Jewelry, Spot to assemble hunters and gatherers
Other: Trading Post, Shop, Doctor/Pharmacy, Pantry, Hoard, Cellar, Prison, Barracks for guards and/or patrols, Gardens or other types of decoration.
4. Since you have that map out, do you stick to FR’s official dragon sizes? If so, make sure you have passageways for your largest dragons. Do your smaller dragons keep their own mini-colony somewhere?
5. It’s a good time to think about technology.
How technologically advanced is your clan? Do they live in "traditional" caves or a grand palace built by the best craftsmen with all the modern comforts of a home? Do they use tools to help them hunt or is it all claws and teeth? What about armor? Is it used for hunting or strictly for battle?
What about comforts? Do you use electricity or torches? Is there air conditioning or heaters? What do the beds look like? If you use blankets, who makes them? What does your hatchery or nursery look like? Is your clan literate?

Advanced Lorebuilding
Done all that basic stuff at the top? Well, here's some more stuff to work on that all costs lair space.
1. Let’s talk about invaders. Other dragons, beastclan, maybe an angry bug that just wants a new home and is drilling in your tree... How defendable is your lair? If something were to get in, how would it do it? Do you build your own defences or are there natural structures in your lair that discourages such a thing. Now’s a good time to revisit that map of your lair…
2. How is justice dealt with in your clan? There’s bound to be squabbles and consequences. Do you have a jail? Maybe a full blown prison. Or maybe a guillotine.
3. Okay, focus on something more fun: The hoard!
Is it just in a giant pile somewhere like a traditional dragon hoard? Or is there someone who sorts things and your hoard looks more like a warehouse. Do individual dragons have hoards of their own? Where is that kept?

1. Where do you live on your flight's map?
Glen Vale is the original caretaker of the Behemoth's Flower Field and only recently has started a small look a like clan to help him camouflage and tend to the flower field and lake.

Left of the great maze, and South of the Behemoth rests Glade Keepers Flower Field. Tended by the Nature Flight Representative, the Wild Claw Glen Vale. Though there is no shade in this feild, there is a constant breeze on the wind that keeps the rolling hills cool.

Flowers are always in full bloom with petals dancing upon the wind, closing for only a short time in the middle of the night. The entire field, its rolling flowery hills, its small lake at the foot, and the caverns at the head, are all Glen Vales territory.

3. Now let’s work on the inside. What facilities will you need to service your clan? [S]Try drawing a map![/s] I have an 11th month old daughter, I don't have time to make a map, let alone writing full detailed answers to these questions, lol! I'm doing this mostly on my phone!
There really isn't an inside. This clan is very new and are of nature flight dragons, born and chosen, and so they are very natural in their environment. Some dragons listed above have not even been introduced or developed yet! But as time goes on and as you scroll down, they'll be developed in time!
A map is not available at this time, but maybe in the future?
Ideas include:
Sleeping areas::
Glen Vale had slept alone on the highest hill of the Flower Field, so he could keep an eye on his entire territory. But as of late, his field has taken in some look a like residents and slowly a clan is forming.
The mysterious Yugona and one of her daughters, Lili, sleeps within the north most cavern at the cliffs base while the rest of the clan, (at the time writing this, that would be Yugona's other daughter Leima and Leima's father, bundle together with Glen Vale, and his bed of half knit and crocheted blankets made up of Silky Yarn, (a massive bundle of mint-colored yarn, spun from the soft hair of the Gale Wolf.) Don't envy the craftsman who had to collect it...
[Item=Skein of Silky Yarn] [item=Spring's Breath]
Storage for: Food, Hoardstuff (what do you hoard?), Metals, ect
There is one shed to the left of the flower field and in it holds the food storage, medical aids, and gardening supplies originally all owned by Glen Vale. However, with the addition of each new member, the shed has gotten quite crowded and murmurs of a cabin being built are on the petals breeze.
A list of possible items found in this shed will be listed here at a late date:: ...
[Item=Skein of Silky Yarn] [item=Lost Gladekeeper sacdoll] [item=Gladekeeper topiary cutting] [item=Herbalist's satchel]
Hatchery

At the edge of the forest maze, to the far right of the flower field is the standard nest.
However, there has yet to be a breeding among the clan members, except for the one night stand between Yugona and Verel... and her nest was found much further away, hidden, and to be a bit... disturbing...

NOTE:: The following dragons will not be linked to their bios anymore: Glen Vale, Yugona, Lili, Leima, and Verel.
A place to relax or entertain would be the lake to the south of the flower field. It is their water supplies for all things, drinking, cleanning, playing, you name it!
Beastmaster area for keeping familiars is not a part of this particular clan and a dragon bonds with their familiar for life and are together most of the time.
Research: Library, Magic, Schooling (basic knowledge, flight school, magic training etc) is also not a part of this lair, which is made up of adults who are just getting to know each other. But, with the birth and raising of Lili and Leima, I'm sure education is passed down mostly from their parents, then from their mentord, and eventually Glen Vale as a leader if they so chose to stay with him and live on his territory.
Production: Forge, Winery, Kitchen, Farms, Potions or Brewing, Textiles, Jewelry, Spot to assemble hunters and gatherers... are all brought to Glen Vale through a trading merchant. Glen Vale produces the most popular flowers in all of Sorienth, and Leima is slowly starting to outshine him. They sell their flowers to Kinkajou, who provides materials, food, and other supplies from other flights.
When Kinkajou is late or doesn't have much to trade, Glen Vale fishes in their lake and hunts in the neighboring forests.
Again, with the arrival of Home-Maker Rush, the clan is slowly but surely building a cabin to live in, and then will quite possibly expand to making a flower shoppe to sell their flowers from...
Other:
Trading Post, Explained above.
Shop, Explained above.
Doctor/Pharmacy, would be Glen Vale, who is a natural healer and herbalist.
Pantry, Hoard, that shed is mentioned above, along with those cabin and shoppe building plans!
Cellar, Prison, Barracks for guards and/or patrols, is Verels responcibilty, as the Flower Fields only Guardian, Guard, and Patroller. He was the 1st to join Glen Vales clan and is the biggest member. His duty to patrol the territory is what got him tangled up with Yugona one night, and how his two daughters were born.
Though there hasn't been any 'crimes' as the clan is still fresh and new, a good holding cell would be the caves at the cliffs base just north of the field.
Gardens or other types of decoration...
*Waves arms around entire territory and post*
4. [S]Since you have that map out,[/s] do you stick to FR’s official dragon sizes? If so, make sure you have passageways for your largest dragons. Do your smaller dragons keep their own mini-colony somewhere?
Rush and Verel have kept this in mind while they plan the cabin and shoppes construction. See sized below!

5. It’s a good time to think about technology.
How technologically advanced is your clan?
Think off the map, off the beaten path, mostly camping.
Do they live in "traditional" caves or a grand palace built by the best craftsmen with all the modern comforts of a home?
Glen Vale lived alone for most of his life, living off the land, the fields, the lake, the forest, and the caves. However, now that he has opened his flower field to others of his newly growing lair, Rush is currently working with Verel to make a cabin for the growing clan.
Do they use tools to help them hunt or is it all claws and teeth? What about armor? Is it used for hunting or strictly for battle?
Besides fishing poles, claws and teeth for stalking and hunting, their main tools are for gardening. Most of their supplies and clothes are home/hand/claw made and are used to tend to the flower field. The clan is ill prepared for a battle if they're attacked as they do not have any supplies to fight an enemy. Luckily they do not have one as of yet...
What about comforts? Do you use electricity or torches? Is there air conditioning or heaters? What do the beds look like? If you use blankets, who makes them?
There is no electricity or any type of flame, (this is hazardous for a windy flower field)! Instead, they use fireflies or lightning bugs in jars at night when needed. Of course there is also star light, as this clan beds down at night and wakes at first sun light.
The climate is perfect, warm with a breeze. However, when there are storms or cold breezes, the clan beds down in the cliff caves with crocheted and knitted blankets. It is the only place fire is allowed.
The blankets are made by Rush! She is currently working with Verel to make a home for the newly growing clan as mentioned above.
What does your hatchery or nursery look like?
At this time their is no hatchery or nursery due to the clan being so new. Please see the nest info posted above.
Is your clan literate?
Yes, they can read, write, and send notes to each other with the help of their familars, which are mostly sprites and nymphs.
WEEK ONE ADVANCED::
1. Let’s talk about invaders. Other dragons, beastclan, maybe an angry bug that just wants a new home and is drilling in your tree... How defendable is your lair?
Oh my Gladekeeper please don't attack my babies...

The clan is very peaceful and keep to themselves. If any other dragon or beast clan member came onto the territory, they would be welcomed and questioned politely. Glen Vale id always thinking of new allies to trade with...
If something were to get in, how would it do it?
I mean... it's an open field so... walking or flying...?
Do you build your own defences or are there natural structures in your lair that discourages such a thing.
Member that cabin and shoppe I keep mentioning? Maybe we will add a fence too!
[s]Now’s a good time to revisit that map of your lair…[/s]
Nooooo, don't make me, lol!
2. How is justice dealt with in your clan? There’s bound to be squabbles and consequences. Do you have a jail? Maybe a full blown prison. Or maybe a guillotine.
See the cave noted above. This clan hasn't dealt with any crimes and bickering usually leads to walking away or a slightly violent tussle.
3. Okay, focus on something more fun: The hoard! Is it just in a giant pile somewhere like a traditional dragon hoard? Or is there someone who sorts things and your hoard looks more like a warehouse.
Member that shed up there ^ it gots all the stuff other than the individual items some clan members keep on them in satchels. The clan is still new and making their home.
Do individual dragons have hoards of their own? Where is that kept?
Repeat last answer! :)
Glen Vale is the original caretaker of the Behemoth's Flower Field and only recently has started a small look a like clan to help him camouflage and tend to the flower field and lake.
2. What does it look like before you enter? What is the grand facade that you show to the world that this, THIS is your home!

3. Now let’s work on the inside. What facilities will you need to service your clan? Try drawing a map!I have an 11th month old daughter, I don't have time to make a map, let alone writing full detailed answers to these questions, lol! I'm doing this mostly on my phone!

4. Since you have that map out, do you stick to FR’s official dragon sizes? If so, make sure you have passageways for your largest dragons. Do your smaller dragons keep their own mini-colony somewhere?
WEEK ONE ADVANCED::
Now’s a good time to revisit that map of your lair…
