Sea wolves are sea-bond and will never set foot or claw onto land. Even flying is unobtainable as their wings act as fins to propel them through the water at high speeds with easy maneuverability. It is also their wings that easily identify each Sea Wolf. These wings are like fingerprints, being unique to each dragon. Males typically have larger, more pointed wings while females have smaller, more rounded wings. It is determined by dragon scientists, based upon their DNA, that Deeprealm Hunters and Spiney Whales are descendants of this ancient race of dragons, possibly cross-breeding with other whale-like creatures in the sea and then losing their dragon-esque features. Skeletal remains of Sea Wolves have also been found which show that they used to be larger in size centuries earlier. As time passed, they evolved to have smaller body sizes than their ancestors. Sea wolves are pack creatures, with generations making up their pods. Eldest ones are given the upmost respect and authority. The eldest amongst all of them, either male or female, is considered the pod’s leader. The next level of authority go to the current or expecting mothers, as they ensure the life of the pod. This is then followed by the hunters, and then the lowest tier is the rest of the sea wolf pod. Still, they trace their names back to their mothers, otherwise understood as matrilineality. This is why there are no permanent pairs in a pod and the deepest connections are between the mothers and their children. Depending on their habitat, they will have exclusive diets, like only fish or sea mammals. However, it does not mean they are vicious hunters. They have a strict code that they abide by, including providing swift deaths to living prey and only kill for food. Even in self defense, they will not injure an enemy to the point of death. This code is common amongst are regional variants of the subspecies. --------------------------------------------------- [columns]xxxxxxxxxxxx [nextcol]CULTURE -&- HISTORY [nextcol][/columns] Culture and history of this subspecies are not written or documented but passed on through the generations of each pod. As time has passed, it has caused regional pods to develop their own beliefs in their origins and their own dialect. For instance, those who live off the Southern Icefield believe that it was when the Tidelord was attempting expand its realm further out to encompass the continent. As a treaty with the Icewarden to share the control of the waters around the Icefield, they created the Sea wolves, first with a dark block of ice specially selected by the Icewarden. Then with the Tidelord carved it with waves and breathed into it new life with the sea foam. This is why they have a white underbelly, following the white sea foam that ran from the mouth to the tail that gave it life, while their main black body came from the black ice base. These pods are skilled at using echolocation in order to navigate the underwater ice caves. Members are also smaller in size, allowing them to access small pockets of air more easily in the icy labyrinths as well as maneuver within the complicated myriad of caves. Those that reside in the Sea of One Thousand Currents believe that their origins were traced to the battle between the Tidelord and Windsinger, at the creation of the Stormrider. When the bolts of electricity hit the dark waves of the battle, the sea churned and rocked, and the waves solidified to the sea wolves’ form. Those that live in this region are considered the fiercest of the subspecies, following an old but honorable battle code that came forth from the deities’ battle. Stories exist amongst their cultures that their ancestors battled and defeated the creatures whose remains litter the Fishspine reef. Their diets greatly vary, from hunting large schools of fish to lone sharks to large and fierce creatures that lurk in the deepest waters. Pods that surround the Viridian Labyrinth believe that they were created from a branch from the Behemoth stolen by the Tidelord. The Tidelord wanted more power of the lands’ surrounding water and decided to prove his cunning by stealing something of value from right under the Gladekeeper’s nose. He was able to succeed, and carved the form of the Sea Wolves, giving it life once it floated on the waters’ surface. Upon seeing the pods of Sea Wolves, she became enraged and cursed them to never be able to set foot on land ever again. It thwarted the Tidelord’s movements to control her realm, but her pity towards the new creation (as she embodied new life) caused her to allow them to still live within the waters that surround her land. These pods are most social and welcoming amongst the subspecies. As such, they also have the most complicated dialect, which can easily adjust to the number of Draconian languages in Sornieth. Their food sources usually come in the form of schools of fish that they skillfully direct using their hunting skills. There are still other pods that exist whose history is less known to the main dragon world, waiting to be discovered.

Hi *waves* XP
Is Eldrich secondary not acceptable for this subspecies?

Also, I’d be very interested in a pearlcatcher hatchie if you nest your pair :)

@FelinaeFatale
I found eldrich to be too green tinged to look like an orca fin XD

And awesome! I can put them on a nest if you like. Any preference in hatch date?
