PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM CONSTANTLY UPDATING THIS. ALL OF THE INFORMATION IS HERE, BUT I PLAN TO MAKE HEADERS AND GRAPHICS FOR THIS, AS WELL AS CONSTANTLY ADD NEW THINGS TO IT.

SUBSPECIES OVERVIEW

The griffons are a remote subspecies of the skydancer. Explorers only recently discovered the small faction of dragons, and they are still being researched and studied.

They live in all territories, and are not limited to one. There are known subtle differences between each flight's griffons, but they are slight as far as research presently indicates.

This logbook will continue to be updated as research continues.

SUBSPECIES LORE

This subspecies was only recently discovered, and not much is known about them, all told. How they split and why is still a mystery.

The griffons are a small, reclusive subspecies of the skydancer. With massive wings, the feathers - usually only on part of the wing - have extended to cover it's entirety, and the leathery part has receded slightly. Due to their small population, the gene pool is very limited. While they range a fair bit in colors, their genes are very specific, limited only to falcon, peregrine, and scales.

They live almost exclusively in the mountains, high, craggy peaks that are difficult to reach. Their talons have evolved slightly to better grip the sharp rock, and the thumbs on their wings are more muscular than that of the majority of skydancers, allowing more stability on the rocks. Both the talons on their wings and their feet are used for climbing.

They make their homes in caves in these cliff faces, where they raise their young off the ground away from predators. While they are not a prey species by any means, their young remain defenseless for a portion of their life.

The griffons mate for life. Should that mate die, they do not seek another. They are a more communal subspecies, tending to live in large flocks together, though they are not adverse to splitting up and branching out. They do not share dens, however. The caves of a single flock are clustered close together, but each individual cave is home to only a single family.

VARIANTS

There are more variants of the griffon subspecies being discovered all the time, as more and more dragons step outside the clans and venture into more and more uncharted territory, and more and more of the griffons - in all their variants - come back with the explorers to join the clans.

@Selki | @reddhart

the thread is finished and the subspecies is open!

Note that I am still updating this with graphics and such, but for the most part I'm fairly sure it's finished. Feel free to ask to be added to any pinglist listed (or ask for something else, those were just ones I could think of at the time) and know that this is not a stagnant subspecies! I'll likely be adding more and more variants and information as time goes on.

Also, most of the dragons I have presently are not yet gened, so while they're listed under the 'registered specimens' area, they're not finished, but they will be, hopefully soon. :)

As of right now, there will not be other breeders of this subspecies, and the only way to obtain one is to buy one from me. I may change this in the future though.
