We're almost there.

Conner sprinted down the hallway, as fast as he could. Some of the wall's paint was scratched, probably from someone mishandling a crate or something similar. It seemed like a good sign that he wasn't heading in the wrong direction.

His eyes landed on a conspicuous doorway, and he twisted the doorknob. He really didn't want Edward to use his magic unless he had to. There was no way that they'd make it out if they had to carry some else, but they were almost out anyways so it was worth it even if he had to use his magic. There was another exit in this room, though it was usually used as an entrance, since it was a storage room for whatever the clan needed but wasn't actively using.

Locked.

He glanced at Edward, whispering questioningly, "Can you unlock this?" He heard a quiet click before he was even done speaking.

Pushing open the door, the first thing he noticed was a scrawny teenager who was turning around. The boy seemed confused, but Conner didn't hesitate to punch him in the nose—he'd noticed that swords didn't seem to work very well.

While the kid reeled backwards, lifting his hands towards his face—his nose was probably broken—he threw a right hook, aiming to knock him out. He stayed on his toes as the vampire crumpled to the floor, making sure that he was actually out.

L O G A N

Logan decided to put his faith in Conner after seeing the hunter start fighting—he'd be surprised if he couldn't beat the kid. He did his best to hold Rose with one arm, pressing her against his chest, while he used his free hand to grab at the door. Pulling it shut, he scrambled to lock the door, only turning back around after he heard the door click shut.

Not that he was needed. Conner had the boy on the floor soon afterwards.

He wrapped his arms back around Rose, giving her a muted, “Sorry,” as he did so.

Edward followed behind Conner, keeping pace quickly. When he noted the door ahead was locked, he forced it's lock open before he could even finish his statement. he was a little surprised to see the boy behind the door when Conner opened it. He put his trust in Conner to handle it and quickly slipped into the room behind him.

"nice going" He smiled a little and moved to the door on the other side of the room, seeing if he could hear anything on the other side before they needed to slip out of this room to get out. "I think this is to the outside" He spoke quietly.

Rose was a little surprised to be pushed against Logan's chest with just his one arm, and weakly gripped his shirt. She had never really been this close to Logan before now and if it were any other situation, she would definitely be awkward about it. "It's ok" she mumbled alittle, shifting to look over at the young Conner.

(Sorry for taking forever. Are your cats doing better?)

"You too," Conner replied, thinking back to Edward's quick thinking. He'd gotten them through the barricade with a clever use of their surroundings, so the hunter figured that he, at the very least, deserved a compliment or two. He'd thought that this would be impossible with only four people, but they had already finished their mission and were close to escaping—and they hadn't even lost anyone yet!

After hearing Edward's observation, he turned around, looking this way and that, before seeing where the vampire was standing—right in front of the exit door. Judging by his tone, there might just be someone outside.

Conner came to stand beside Edward, leaving Logan to follow him since he was talking to Rose. Was that someone talking outside? No, he didn't think so, though it was kind of hard to tell because of the door. It was really muffling whatever that sound was.

After a moment, he moved away and asked in a low voice, "Can you hear anything important outside? He glanced over his shoulder, at the door, thinking that they probably didn't have too much time left.

L O G A N

Seeing Rose turn to look at Conner, Logan thought about calling him back and getting him to help, so that he wouldn't have to deal with this uncomfortable atmosphere. He started to shrug subconsciously, but stopped himself before he actually moved Rose. Hopefully she felt better soon.

Joining the others, he raised his eyebrows when he heard them talking. It seemed pretty stock standard to him; nothing alarming. But he supposed that there were people out their. They just weren't shouting.

"Let's go?" he asked. They were on a timer.

(It's all good :) they are mostly doing better, Diesel isnt sick anymore but the new cat Siren is getting spayed tomorrow so hopefully that will help matters a bit)

Edward stood by the door, listening as the others come over to him "sounds like just a couple out there, I think we should be able to get out, just give me a second more" He mumbled, normally his powers only worked when he could see the target well but he was trying his best to just feel his way around outside with the energy he had left in him.

After just another second and louder sound was heard off to the side as if some storage crates had fallen over. "Go now" Edward to a moment but flung the door open after he created the distraction. It wasn't a lot but he figured it would be enough, hopefully they were all on edge and went after the sound rather than staying put.

Rose was a little worried about the timing at this point. the longer they waited to worst chance they had but after hearing the louder sound outside she smiled a little. She knew Edward had done something to help them out before he flung the door open to the outside air.

(I forgot when they went in and what time of day or night it would be at this point)

(Glad to hear that. I'm crossing my fingers. Also, I'm fairly sure that it's nighttime. Do you want Rose to get better now? She's been incapacitated for a while, and she could probably do with some action.)

L O G A N

Logan could handle a couple of people. He was confident in his ability to escape, even while protecting Rose, and at the very least, he'd be able to meet up with their clanmates. He waited impatiently for Edward to finish his reconnaissance, thinking that he was probably pretty close to running out of energy.

This is bad.

Logan jerked around to face the door, eyes widening when he heard it suddenly slam open. He pursed his lips, staying quiet so as to not draw attention even though every part of him wanted to yell at the others for them to open the door.

Thankfully, Edward flung the door open after dropping a box to distract their pursuers, letting them burst out of the glorified closet—hopefully before anyone saw them. A few seconds advantage.

C O N N E R

Conner took a deep breath after seeing the vampires scattered outside, taking a precious moment to prepare himself. He couldn't do what he had done in the storage, but they should be able to get by without being intercepted by too many of them if they sprinted past.

"Stop them!"

Okay, so it was obvious that they weren't supposed to be here now which meant that he'd have to prevent the others from getting caught by people who might be able to run a few times faster than them. Still, at least they had an open route to the main road.

The biggest threat as of now was a short, brown haired vampire coming in from the side to cut them off. Her hands were tied up with unsheathing the sword strapped around her waist, and he saw her look down—giving him the perfect opportunity which he took.

A quick scuffle later—which involved him avoiding luckily the woman's attempt to blind him with a flash of light—and he was back to running away after sweeping her feet out from underneath her.

Still, he didn't think that he was going to make it. They were almost back to the streets where they should be safe—he didn't think that the vampires would keep chasing them there, and there should be some allies around too—but he could hear someone right on his heels.

Turning around before he could tackled to the ground, he charged up an attack for the incoming attacker.

(I'm hopeful at this point for them. and yes I was planning on that happening soon since it's been a good while)

Edward took off through the door after Conner, he didn't have the energy left to mess with anything more. If he used up anymore he wouldn't be able to move just like Rose had been. It wasn't something he wanted to happen since he was unsure of Rose's capabilities at this moment. Edward would just have to keep going anyway and hope he wouldn't need his power and would just us his own strength for a bit longer.

Rose looked forward and as she noted the new vampire coming after Conner, she couldn't hold herself back. She let go of Logan, slipping through his arms with the use of some smooth vines that came from her very being. Rose felt a weird compulsion to help Conner when he's in need.

She didn't have as much energy but enough to do more. she put her hand out to cause a vine to pull up and trip the oncoming attacker. "MOVE!" She yelled, taking off with what strength she had in her after helping Conner out.

(Wait, no, Rose don't be so selfless. ;-;)

L O G A N

Logan resisted Rose's attempt to stand at first, thinking that it was an accident, before he looked down and saw the vines which appeared to sprouting out of her skin. He let go and stumbled backwards, in part due to recognizing her vines though he had to admit that someone of it was shock.

Hearing her yell, he turned to look behind him, already having a good idea of who she was trying to help. Sure enough, he saw Conner backpedaling away from his attacker, his eyes meeting Rose's confusedly as he ran.

C O N N E R

No, why now? She just got better, and I could have handled that myself! What if something happened to her?

Conner defused himself and stared at Rose's back, thinking that she shouldn't be so self sacrificing. He would have been okay! Stopping his thoughts dead in their track, he forced himself to admit that the reason Rose might have strained herself was him.

Pushing himself to catch up with her, he tried to ask if she was okay, ask if she needed anything, but he couldn't force out anything understandable for a good time.

"Are you okay?" he finally got out breathlessly.

(it's Rose's way lol)

Edward looked back when he suddenly heard Rose's voice yelling for everyone to move. He was confused but shocked seeing her suddenly running through and saving Conner. It was definitely a good oppurtunity for Rose to feel well enough to move on her own, but he was worried about her use of magic and the vines that still seemed to peek through her skin.

Rose glanced over at Conner, keeping pace with him even though he was the slowest of them all. "I'm fine.....for now" she mumbled the last part but knew she only had so much time for the moment from the burst of energy she got during that last moment. It was a weird time to get the energy, Rose had thrown herself between many fights before but never had that burst before. She shrugged it off but only because she assumed it was from her not being able to move at that time.

Conner bit at his lip when he heard Rose and turned away, not entirely sure that he believed her. Still, she did seem like she was doing a bit better than him based off of her breathing, though—surely—that wasn't true, right? But maybe he should go a bit faster, just in case. This was more of a flat out sprint than a marathon anyways.

Then, the fact that Rose had literal vines coming off of her seemed to click. He didn't know how he had missed it before; it was so blatantly obvious too. Was that where her sudden boost had come from? Because, if it was, there was actually a pretty good chance of them making it back—well, assuming that this lasted a bit longer than short, sporadic burst would.

They were already back on the worn cobbled paths, and they were getting pretty close to the more populated streets. Not that there'd be too many people out with how dark it was and the recent attacks.

L O G A N

Finally, Logan stopped and ducked into an alleyway, motioning towards the others to follow him. A bit of a longer route, but it would be a bit harder to find them this way. He didn't know the streets well enough to get the home though; they'd have to get back out on the main street at some point. However, it was enough to get them back to on their terf, and they probably wouldn't get chased that far.

(i think a good portion of it, is that Conner is human, she views them as fragile creatures needing protection and help)

Rose followed behind Logan when he motioned for them to follow him. It wasn't the best path but she knew it well enough to know where they were heading now. It was still better than dealing with the others longer. They wouldn't follow much longer at this rate. Rose hoped they would give up and tend to their injured and dead instead of hunting the killers further.

Edward kept pace with Logan, following him further into the alley way. He was certain it was better to keep going and hope they lost track than to stop now. This should be a better situation for everyone else. Edward was making sure Rose was ok all the way too. This burst of energy wasn't going to last too long but he hoped it would be longer enough to get everyone back to safety.
