Wendigo Psychosis

In historical accounts of Wendigo psychosis, it has been reported that dragons became possessed by the Wendigo spirit, after being in a situation of needing food and having no other choice besides cannibalism. Silent and striking without warning, many hunting parties have quickly perished due to Wendigo Psychosis among its members.
A small hunting party of three dragons disappear into The Fortress of Ends. A month after their disappearance someone, or something, starts a campaign of terror on the small town of Rejection located in the Southern Ice field.

It started after a dragon came across the smashed remains of the town hermit’s hut, and a lot of blood. Then came the disappearances. Hatchlings disappearing in the night. The town, distraught by the disappearances, started a strict curfew for the hatchlings. And all hatclings were to be kept together in the town hall. For a while it seemed to work. Then came the disappearances of the adult dragons. This caused the town to descend into a state of panic, they started gathering in the town hall at night, many were suffering from insomnia. Then came the first confirmed daylight kidnapping. A pearl catcher walking by an allyd, dragged away screaming. Most of the town witnessed the event, they never found any trace of the perpetrator, and the pearl catcher was found in pieces. Members of the town started fleeing north in droves.

The town of Rejection has sent out a plea for help. They say that members of the town have been going missing at a startling rate. The ones that are found, are found dead. The deaths are indiscriminate there is no pattern to the disappearances. The town of previously 700 is now 75, whether it’s due to dragons missing, or dragons fleeing for their lives. The mayor is offering a reward 100,000 treasure to whoever can stop whatever is causing the destruction of this small town. The bounty has attracted a few dragons.

She is a small and stocky guardian, clad in heavy plate armor that keeps her well protected from harm. She is a paladin of the Lightweaver, and her magic is focused on banishing evil from places or dragons. Her spells also include the ability to heal, and several powerful light-based spells. She is a calm presence, with an aura of confidence that makes other dragons turn to her for wisdom and protection. She speaks little, but with great conviction. Many dragons speculate on what her charge could be, and some say she may not have one. Other guardians can't help but look upon her with pity or disdain, as if they can feel that there is something off about her. Backstory: Iratha was born in the Lightweaver's territory, though her search took her far from home. She wandered for years before finally settling in the shifting expanse. The clan had welcomed her, despite knowing little about guardians, and she soon found herself drawn to a spiral, who was guardian a single tiny egg. The mother was concerned about such a large dragon, but came to accept that she would never harm the unborn hatching within. However the egg didn't hatch on time, or for a long while after that. With growing concern, the mother made the first crack herself. The tiny, sickly hatchling was the most beautiful sight Iratha had ever beheld. They had sapphire scales that shone like gems, and soft blue eyes that melted the large dragon's heart. And for a while, the three of them were very happy together. An unorthodox family. There was nothing she could have done. Nothing anyone could have done to prevent the sickness that took the young dragon. Despite her scars, Misery is a capable fighter. Her natural immunity to the cold means that she can easily travel even the most inhospitable regions. Her only downfall is her inability to fly, and the way her appearance tends to frighten other dragons. Backstory: Misery was once a proud warrior, and honored guard of a large clan. During a routine patrol she fell victim to an ambush from a group of fire dragons who had hoped to attack her clan in secret. She put up a tremendous fight, taking the lives of all but one, who fled towards the safety of the Cloudscrape Crags. She managed to catch up, and a second struggle ensued. In the end, she took her opponent's life, but at a cost. Their fiery breath had badly wounded her, and she was left for dead, stranded in the inhospitable mountain range. The snow alone kept the burns from killing her, but she was unable to move to hunt. Eventually, delirious from hunger and pain, she turned to the only food source available. An insatiable bloodlust consumed her after that, a drive to consume that stole what little of her sanity hadn't been lost to pain. With an appearance too gruesome to be saved by any clan, she wandered the snowy mountains preying on the very young or any dragon foolish enough to walk the crags alone. Her time in clan Haven has quelled her madness and amplified her guilt, but the legends of a monster live on in those clans she once haunted. The skydancer halted, pointing to a group of buildings in the distance. "We're here," he said softly. There was something about the silence, and the way nothing moved despite the bright light of sunrise that hung overhead that unnerved him. @Dracknorin (you did good on your PCs)

Flame sat at her desk in the town hall and looked around at the ten dragons assembled in front of her. She looked tired. Her fur was uncombed worst of all she looked mad.

"USELESS! The whole lot of of you! Can't you keep watch of Seventy Five dragons all in one room for eight hours! Now because you your incompetence another resident is dead!"

One of the dragons in the crowd piped up. "To be fair, were running on fumes mam. some of us haven't slept in days. How are we supposed to defend 75 dragons let alone ourselves against a thing that has killed anyone whose seen it?"

"Don't try and justify what happened! Causing a death is unjustifiable! The fact you would try and justify it tells me all I need to know. Get out of my office. Now. All of you."

She rubbed her temple and stared at the desk in front of her. She sighed opened a drawer and pulled out a scroll. She scanned the list of names on the list, she then took a quill and scratched a name off the list.

The uneasy treck through town brought them to the town hall, the only place that Iratha could detect any dragons at all. With the others crouched behind, the armored dragon reached up to try the door.

It was locked, of course. With a sigh she brought her hand up to knock, four loud strikes that echoed in the quiet snowy streets. Remembering the letter, she called out to reassure them that her group were no monsters.

"Is anyone alive in there?" Itatha had a deep booming voice, someone was sure to hear. "We're from the Beacon, we got word of your distress." She stepped back from the door as the others leaned in to listen for movement.

The trio shuffled inside quickly, painfully aware of he tundra's paranoia toward the outside. Iratha seemed concerned about the well-being of the remaining dragons, itching to speak with the mayor.

Rohn seemed less concerned, simply glancing around curiously. He had heard the stories of course, they were common in the mountains, but he hardly believed in monsters. This was probably some other group of dragons, trying to frighten the townsfolk into moving on.

Misery hobbled in last. Her head remained downcast, and the long heavy cloak dragged the ground around her. From beneath the heavy fabric, her eyes shone like pinpricks of light. Iratha would have them operating like an army soon enough, but something familiar lingered in the air.

The tundra quickly but quietly shut the door. He threw a deadbolt on the door and then put a siege bar over the door. As they walked down the hall he seemed to relax.

"Thank Ice-warden your here, we were starting to loose hope."

He stopped at the end of the hall and sat slumped on the wall. He kept the ice pick close to his chest.

"Down the hall to your left and the third door on the third door on the right. Knock twice before you enter."

Flame sat at her desk and watched Iratha enter her office. She looked tired.

"Good morning. Thank you for coming in such a short notice. As you are aware someone, or something, has been terrorizing my humble little town of Rejection, and I want whatever it is dead!"

She banged a fist on the desk in anger, before regaining her composure, and continued on with her bargan.

"As of this hour, I declare, there is a bounty on the head of what foul being is besieging this town. The bounty consists of Ten-Thousand Sorneth treasure. The first dragon to bring proof of the beasts demise and a week of quiet to this town shall receive the reward. Am I understood?"

@Nope570 ((I think you wrote 100,000 on the first post.))

"By the Lightweaver's mercy," said the guardian. "It will be done."

Everyone looked tired, so far. She wondered for a second if any of these dragons were sleeping. They should have a watch set up, if everyone was helping. She decided to be gentle about her questioning, at least for a while. It wouldn't help their investigation if the whole population was sleep deprived.

"How many guards do you have here?" she asked. "We only saw one."

--

Outside the room, Misery and Rohn were waiting for Iratha to finish. They both scanned the area around them. It had seemed awfully quiet, if all the remaining townspeople were supposed to be in the building. Though Misery had pointed out that they may just be in another room.
