Sheila dipped her head respectfully to Elodie in return, then looked back at Verne when he asked his question. She shook her head. "Actually no, they haven't been back." She was a bit surprised; she had expected the two to come back as soon as Verne left, but they hadn't come. There was a feeling of relief, but also of dread. What if they were planning something?

"Excuse me, but -- is it alright if I eat now? The babies are hungry, and I need to eat before I feed them," Sheila said bashfully, turning her eyes down to look at the floor as she shuffled her paws.

Verne shared in Sheila's surprise. The way the Mirrors had been acting, he would have assumed they would return to try and persuade her back to the clan. It made him wonder at how much they really cared. If it had been one of his clanmates out here, they wouldn't have been left in peace for very long. But then again, his clan didn't have any strife going on like Sheila's seemed to.

"Of course, Mademoiselle," Verne smiled down at her and pushed the bundle of food in her direction. "Take anything you like; it is all yours."

Elodie had inched closer to the den while the two conversed, her eyes bright with curiosity as she carefully peered inside. "Oooooh...." She cooed upon catching sight of the hatchlings. There weren't many hatchlings in the manor. These ones were very small and she smiled.

Sheila noticed Elodie's approach towards the den, but she didn't stop her. She knew that she meant no harm, so she nodded politely to Verne before dipping her head to eat. She needed to eat a lot more now, since she was feeding herself and three hungry hatchlings, who ate more often than she did. Even though it hadn't been long since her last meal, she was eating quickly and hungrily.

Meanwhile, as Elodie peered in, one of the hatchlings looked up at her with wide pink eyes. She had a tiger pattern like her mother, but it was charcoal colored, and she had golden wings and white points on her body. Squeaking loudly, the kitten attempted to get to her feet, but all she managed to do was flop forward on her belly, still looking up at Elodie.

Verne coiled himself into a loose circle, his head resting on his front paws. His ears swiveled in one direction and than another as he listened to the sounds of the star dotted forest around them. He looked relaxed, but in reality he wasn't even close. Being away from the Wasteland and the manor was strange and he felt anxious out here, in the open.

Elodie gently nudged the curious hatchling with her snout, turning her carefully onto her back and then snorting playfully into her belly. Her pearl was pushed aside for the moment, away from the hatchlings as she devoted her current attentions to the little one.

Once Sheila had finished her meal, she picked up her head and turned in the direction of Elodie and her kittens. She smiled when she saw her playing with the little one, who squeaked and batted at Elodie's muzzle. They were just starting to find their feet, and were getting more and more active as time passed. Soon it would be too difficult to keep them inside of the den all day, and that was what Sheila feared.

From the bushes, something -- or rather, someone -- was watching them closely. Pink eyes glared at the three dragons from inside of the bushes. Sheila was the first to pick up his scent, and she lifted her head. "Do you smell that?" She asked nervously.

Verne was already searching the area when Sheila spoke. He uncoiled himself and raised his head to better catch the scent the Coatl claimed to being smelling. He couldn't place it, but there was something there. "Yes," he rumbled softly, eyes narrowing. His paw strayed to his sword, very ready to use it.

Elodie, oblivious to the other two's risen guard, continued to playfully nudge at the hatchling. She made little snorting noises in the hatchling's face. Finally, she noticed the other two had fallen silent and turned to look. Upon seeing Verne's tense posture, she snatched her pearl and brought it close, ears twitching nervously as she positioned herself in the den entrance, blocking it from view and making sure the hatchlings stayed inside.

When Elodie turned away from them, even the hatchlings went quiet, sensing the tension in the air. Sheila, even though she was unsure of where the scent was coming from, gave a warning hiss in the direction of the bushes, her feathered crest already starting to rise. The bushes trembled as if they were alive for a second, before a dark-pelted male Coatl pulled himself from them and shook his head.

"Hey! No need to act like you're gonna kill something," the male growled, obviously irritated. As soon as she saw him, Sheila threw up her wings menacingly, her feathers bristling.

"Oh, what are you doing here, you good for nothing scumbag?" She snapped, fuchsia eyes narrowing.

Verne's paw did not leave the handle of his sword, even after the male Coatl snapped at him. Elodie clutched her pearl tightly to her chest, biting her lower lip as her eyes flicked between Sheila and the newcomer. It was easy for both her and Verne to make the connection, but that didn't change the Spiral's defensive position, nor did Elodie feel inclined to move from her place in front of the den.

"Ah so this is the low life," Verne rumbled, "Have you decided that you actually care for your mate, Monsieur? I suggest you leave otherwise."

Daenero, the newcomer, rolled his eyes when Verne addressed him. "And who are these two clowns? You trying to join a new Clan, Sheila?"

"No, I just wanted to get away from you," Sheila snapped back. "These two are helping me with the kittens, since you don't want the responsibility of doing it."

Now whirling back to face Verne, Daenero narrowed his eyes at the Spiral, looking him up and down critically. "So, do you think you're her new mate or something?" He asked, tail lashing. He didn't bother to address Verne's question, only asking his own.

Verne's own eyes narrowed, but he chuckled, "No, but I hardly doubt you qualify as her anything at this point, Monsieur." He stepped a bit closer, ears perked and wings slightly flared. "Do you want him here, Mademoiselle?" He directed at Sheila, quite ready to drive this scumbag away. Someone who abandoned a clanmate in their time of need was less than trash in his eyes.

Elodie found the courage to sneer at the male Coatl, making it obvious that she was not impressed.
