( Almost wanna make this nurse a total pair block. )

Caden huffed slightly as he heard Kakir and the slightest flush of embarrassment entered the doctors cheeks. He wouldnt fall out! He wasnt that uncoordinated.. sure, a bit stumbling, but not enough to go falling all over the place.

As they started to move, there wasn't a single moment that Caden could sit quietly; the nurse excitedly continued to speak to the doctor, her smile wide and handa clasped.

He continued to talk back to her, up to the point that his eyes were closing partially and his reactions much more delayed than they were before.

" Ah, are you tired, sir? " she asked, getting a single mumble in reply.. an obvious yes as he settled himself back even more, closing his eyes contently.

((They basically already are but please do so more))

Kakir had already slightly fallen asleep, he couldn't stand to listen to the nurse talk and talk and talk. He had the rather bad habit of being unable to listen to someone for hours but be able to talk for hours on end. Slightly one sided treatment. He opened his eyes a bit and glanced at her before leaning on Caden, closing his eyes again.

Kakir hoped this wouldn't make him fall out and he would instead be a very comfortable pillow.

The nurse seemed less than pleased to spot Kakir leaning idly against Caden, but it was enough to make her stubbornly stop her happy chatter and stare at the pair, before away to peer ar something of less interest.

By the time his fellow assistant had ceased her happy babbling, the young doctor had settled himseld into a less than blissful rest; his eyebrows were vaguely furrowed and his eyea firmly shut. It wasnt that great to be sleeping on a moving wagon; but when he felt Kakir lean against him, the unfamiliar but oddly relaxing warmth of another person was enough to calm said snoozing Caden.

An hour or so of unease on the nurses part was enough to drive her mad before abruptly blurting out: " Excuse me, sir! We are stopping for a quick rest. " she said, smiling faintly when Caden gave a slight jolt of surprise before relaxing as the sway of said carriage came to a halt. Well.. it was about time. Even though he had been asleep for the entire time.

Said hours had been enough for Caden to slump idly against Kakir's shoulder in return, and when his slightly sleepy mind finally processed this, his face became red in slight shock and embarrassment as he sat himself up properly, a hand combing furiously through his own hair.

Kakir only grunted a bit at the sound of the nurse once they stopped. Moving around slightly more however once Caden moved, groaning a bit and looking around slightly, mumbling more to himself then anymore else, "Why are we stopping?" He held onto his stomach slightly, it was rather stiff as was his ankle but he wasn't even going to try and move that.

He looked over at the nurse, the only way he could think of describing her was irritated, and it was probably because of him, for something or other, he couldn't say yet at least. He looked back over at the blushing Caden and chuckled, mumbling, he had intended for him not to hear but Kakir was far to close to him, with how small the carriage was, "Pink is a nice color on you~" He fixed his hood slightly and sat up more, it would be nice to get out of this damned thing, and to be outside when it didn't smell like death and disease.

" It's time for us to take a break- " Caden began as he heard Kakir questioning about why they were even stopping in the first place, but he stopped quickly as he heard what his patient had said. The young doctor looked at him, green eyes wide and the skin around them and all over his face turned a fresh flush of pink.

He had really said that- ... pink was a nice color on him. The doctor was only use to the idle chat of others around him, and the frequent mockery of other doctors; not flattery and kind words **** that.

" Ahem! " he hurriedly cleared his throat to avoid his face from growing any warmer, instead awkwardlt clambering his way out from the back of the carriage to end up on the ground. The sudden change from swaying of the carriage to solid ground made him almost sick feeling.. but he had to focus on his patient.

" I'd like to check on that stomach of yours, " he requested, the pink of his face slowly leaving as he looked expectantly at Kakir to take a seat on the edge of the unmoving carriage.

Kakir nodded a bit when he spoke before noticing how red his face turned and his own becoming a bit flushed as well, clearing his throat before him as to make his own now pink face go back to normal and covering his face more with his hood.

He watched him clamber out before falling and laughing, covering his face a bit and mumbling apologies in between laughs. He didn't mean to, but it was rather funny to see the red faced, stoic doctor fall out of a still carriage.

"Well let's see if I can get there..." he mumbled while trying to get over to the side, his body still stiff but he did get over there and sat with his feet hanging off slightly, he was rather tall so it wasn't much. "I don't think it's too bad... J-Just stiff..."

A stubborn huff of air left the doctor as he heard his patient's muffled laughter, and although he only wanted to be sour for being laughed at, he couldn't help but also feel relief. It was a much better sound to hear than the pained groans and moans of the injured; a laugh was much lighter, not as gloomy, even if it was muffled.

Shrugging off the minor embarrassment, he came over as Kakir was finally sitting on the edge of the carriage to get a better look at said man's stomach wound. Immediately, Caden went back into a more civil mode and his hands reached over to move some fabric back to take a closer look at those stitches. He was both pleasantly surprised and proud of himself as he saw that the stitches were both holding up and that there was no red or inflamed skin around said stitches that signaled infection.

His eyebrows perked up as he stood there, staring quizzically at the stitches with mild amazement before he retracted his hands and instead settled down onto his knee's to then begin looking at Kakir's ankle. As carefully as he could, his hands were placed on it as he began to look it over.

" Hope it pleases you to hear that you don't have any infection, " he finally spoke up, green eyes looking up at Kakir before back down at the ankle. He fell silent again, only to pipe right back up seconds later after looking over his swollen ankle. " and this swelling here isn't looking so bad. " for once, the young doctor seemed to puff up with pride, his lips in a curt smile and his hands placed firmly against his own hips as he stood up. See? He wasn't that bad of a doctor at all!

In the midst of his own happiness, he felt an idle tapping against his shoulder and turned his head a little; it was the nurse of course. She stared almost gloomily at the two, before finally getting around to what she needed to say. " We will leave in about ten minutes, " she informed, smiling tiredly at Caden who just nodded in reply.

" Thank you, " he thanked her for informing them, watching as she got an almost giddy smile and hurried off to help with a few others. Obviously oblivious, he turned back to Kakir and raised his eyebrows slightly. " Are you thirsty? I can get some water from the flask's. " he offered, turning abruptly to scan over some of the carriages.

Kakir watched his expressions and smiled a bit as he turned and seemed rather happy about how well he was healing, speaking, "Nice to hear. You aren't a terrible doctor like they say." He found it somewhat cute how he was now blown full of pride and was half expecting him to gloat about it more to the nurse who tapped on his shoulder. It was a bit sad to hear they would be leaving so soon but they had to get to the new area as soon as possible.

"That would be great. I can't exactly get over there yet" as he moved his ankle a bit, chuckling. He watched the nurse a bit and wondered in Caden truly was that oblivious or if he was just playing her off and trying to act uninterested.

( I had an idea! Think it would be interesting to add some 'villians' so to speak to this? uwu AKA those on the other side, just to get some conflict rollin'.)

Of course Caden was proud, and if he wasn't so mindful he probably would have started gloating right then and there when the nurse came over to him. It wasn't that Caden was a mean individual.. that he was ignoring her, but he wasn't comfortable having such flirtatious actions at him, especially from a work partner who has been with him for almost a year.

At Kakir's confirm, Caden turned on his heels and disappeared off to some other carriages, only to come back with flask in hand and a pleasant smile on his face. It was obvious how proud he was over the fact he was doing something that aided the other.. even if it was something so little as giving him some water. Once close enough, he handed the flask over, and the doctor took a moment to heft himself back up onto the edge of the carriage and sit himself down.

" ... So tell me, " he finally spoke up, more trying to keep a silence from taking over and making anything awkward. " What is it you fight for, really; before you ended up on my table, that is. " he added. He knew very well that nobody just 'fought for the fun of it' in a civil war like this.. they always had some reason. One man had said he was fighting for his family, other said he was fighting for himself and there was only one man who had told him he didn't know what he was fighting for anymore... that man, who died afterwards, had left Caden greatly disturbed.

@ifawn ((I agree to that 100%! So some more of our own dragons or just random stand in characters like the nurses? ^w^))

Kakir thanked him and took the water once he handed it to him and moved over enough so they could both sit on the carriage semi-comfortably. Drinking from the flask and listening to the silence before he spoke, humming a bit in thought and tilting his head back, "A lot if it is so I don't die myself, I don't really have all to many people worth fighting for. I'm fighting for a better future? Although, that's a kind of backwards logic." He shrugged and took another sip, holding it out to him slightly as an offer, "Fighting to fix something is very backwards, which is why war never makes any sense."
