Not far from the tiki bar, a cluster of dragons are hanging out together, idly chatting. "You look kind of cunning. But not so cunning as us! Dragons in the Water Flight are the best at separating fact from fiction--we have to be, to distinguish real prophecies from hopes and wishes. I'm Unda, and I bet, if we told you three things about us, that you couldn't tell which ones are lies and which one is the truth. Want to give it a try?"

1. Each day, a few new dragons will show up to challenge all comers to discern truths from lies! You may offer one guess about each dragon.
   
   
2. You may guess at random, or you may use all the evidence at your command (i.e., following the linked dragons back to their lair pages) to help you discern truth from lies.
   
   
3. Submit each day's guesses either via PM, or (particularly if you'd like to RP) in a single post below, pinging Merellia. Include the dragon's name and the number of the answer you think is the truth. Answers in edited posts will not be counted.
   
   
4. Correct answers will be identified the following morning, and those who have answered correctly will earn one ticket per correct answer for the Wavecrest Saturnalia Raffle (or, if Water Flight members, the in-Flight raffle). Those who submitted lies/truths are ineligible to submit answers to the questions about their dragons, should they choose to participate.
   
   
5. Those players who remain most effectively in character while posting answers below throughout the week will be eligible for the People's Choice RP Award!
   
   
6. Upon the conclusion of Wavecrest Saturnalia, participants who have correctly guessed sixteen or more truths will have their names entered in a random drawing to win the Grand Prize below! (Names will be drawn using random.org.)
   
   

FYI: Although I haven't been responding individually to all participants (there are almost a hundred of you! Which is awesome, but a little overwhelming), you can tell if I recorded your previous day's guesses if you're included in the ping list the following morning, when I announce the release of that day's questions.

Unda mutters grudgingly, "Well, I suppose we had better give you [i]something [/i]if you're as good as you claim." The other dragons mutter a bit amongst themselves. Eventually, a Wildclaw with sandlike striations mottling her teal coloring sighs. "Yeah, I s'pose so." They look at each other reluctantly. After a weighted pause, a coatl in twilight blues and sunset golds says, in a fluting accent, "Everyone, bring out your flotsam and jetsam!" After a final heaved sigh or two, the dragons shake out tunic pockets, empty messenger pouches, or (in the case of a Tundra and an Imperial) shiver until things fall out from under scales or their manes. The pile grows surprisingly big. Unda looks it over appraisingly, then turns back to you. "But remember! Only the best at discerning truth from lies gets anything!" "Hey!" Unda says, but when she gains no notice, raises her voice. "HEY." The other dragons startle to attention. "Yes!" "Are my scales flushed? I think I'm out of sunscreen. . . ." "Yo, bossy!" "What?" "Hey, Chief!" "What, is that a seagull? C'mon, you know I hate seagulls. They're always pooping on me--" Unda sighs long-sufferingly. "It's not a seagull. I just wanted your attention. You, you, and you," she says with the flick of a wingtip, "Step up! This out-of-flighter claims to be better at telling truth from falsehoods than you are. Time to defend the Water Flight! With lies," Unda ends triumphantly. The first dragon steps closer and introduces himself. "I'm [b]Azriel[/b]." She turns to survey the gathered group of dragons affiliated with Water clans. "Alright. Who'll be first today?" A little Noctune swoops forward with an insouciant flick of her wings. "Me! I'm [b]Chaplin[/b]." [b][*]I'm a practical joker and have been known to sneak into adults' nests and switch their eggs, causing pandemonium and chaos on hatching day.[/b] [*]Shy and polite, I only speak when spoken to; I have perfect manners. [/LIST] Another dragon nudges his way to the front, his hat tipped at a jaunty angle. "Let me try next, please!" He adds confidently, "I'm sure to stump everyone." [LIST=1] [b][*]Arguments of any sort make me highly uncomfortable, to the point where I have to go and hide for a while just to be alone.[/b] [*]I can't sleep with other dragons in his personal space, I find it uncomfortably intimate. [*]My favorite part of being a traveling bard is getting to return to Wind territories, for a little reminder of my youth. [/LIST] Unda nods approvingly, and turns to another dragon. A fae had been flitting at her shoulder, clearly eager to challenge the next comers, but both fae and Unda appear surprised to find a canny Skydancer slipping between them. "I'm next," he says confidently. [/LIST] "That's it for now," Unda announces, slashing the air with her tail, obnoxiously challenging. "Make your best guesses!"

[center][b]DAY THREE[/b][/center] (answers now bolded below) Unda flaps her wings noisily to get everyone's attention. "Yesterday was not so bad," she admits, although her wording is ambiguous: does she mean not bad for the Water Flight, or not bad for the guessers? After a couple of moments, she admits, "You are pretty good at truth-telling. Sometimes. With enough hints and options!" By now she definitely looks downcast. After a moment, however, Unda rallies, and asks cheerfully, "How about we try you with another few dragons?" She points to three Water-affiliated dragons. "You, you, and you. Step up. Quickly, now!" Three dragons rush to the front, and Unda gives you a skeptical glance. "Will you be able to distinguish some more truths from lies?" She heaves a sigh. "I don't know. . . . But let's see! This," and she gestures to the nearest dragon, "is [b]Iris[/b]." Which of the following comments about her is actually true?" [/LIST] "That's it! No more today," Unda announces. "Why don't you try getting your fortunes told? You should be able by now to tell whether [i]they [/i]are true or not!"

[center][b]DAY FOUR[/b][/center] (correct answers now bolded below.) Unda buzzes overhead and around the beach energetically. "Are you with me?" she shouts out to the group of Water dragons below. "WE'RE READY!" They chorus. "Can you tell a truth?" "WE'RE TRUTHFUL!" "Are you also lying liars who lie?" "WE'RE LYING LAIRS--LAIRS!--liars. . . ." The chorus falters raggedly, and dies off. "That's kind of a tongue-twister, boss," says a black-as-a-sea abyss guardian, her neon blue spines pale against the bright sky. "But are you liars?" Unda demands. The other dragons take a breath. "WE'RE LIARS!" they chorus proudly. Unda surveys them all, exuding an air of triumphant smugness, then turns to the assembled crowd of Wavecrest Saturnalia party-goers. "No-one will be able to guess the truth today! Give it your best attempt!" An Imperial, his scales glittering with the rich blue of tropical oceans, steps to the front. "I'm [b]Dice[/b], and I am a great liar," she announces proudly. [center][b]DAY FIVE[/b][/center] Unda eyes the assembled pool of Wavecrest festival-goers with disapproval. Her glance seems to fall on you in particular. "Too many of you are too good at this truth thing," she grumbles. "We'll have to try harder today. We'll give you the really difficult ones!" A female coatl makes her way to the front. "I'm [b]IriaDescent[/b]," she introduces herself. [*]Pixie used sign language to communicate with Lerimar." [/LIST] "Now, be off with you!" Unda announces. "Go write some haikus or something. And if you see Lucky V or Wats (@luckyvulpi), tell them we need better grooves!"

[center][b]DAY SIX[/b][/center] (correct answers now bolded below) Unda announces proudly, "Today we are doing [i]Lying Calisthenics[/i]. We can't let some out-of-Flight dragons be better at discerning truths from lies than we are! So repeat after me: "I am at peace with my decision to lie." The assembled Water dragons intone the phrase after Unda. "I will use my imagination to envision the lie." The dragons repeat the affirmation in a chorus. "I will make a truthful admission." "The probability of being detected is only 30%!" After the assembly repeats this after Unda, she pulls herself up straightly and spreads her wings impressively wide for a tiny Nocturne. "WE ARE LIARS!" "WE ARE LIARS!" The chorus has barely faded into the sound of surf when a dragon kicks up sand in his haste to make his way to the front, keeping his soul clutched proudly in one paw. "I'm going to start! I'm [b]Lightning[/b]." [/LIST] A tundra makes her way to the front. Her fur is so think that one might imagine being on the hot beach would be intensely uncomfortable, but she is calm and collected as she surveys you proudly. "I'm [b]Marinette[/b]." "Listen to them! Aren't they great! They're all such good liars," she says fondly. Her expression sours as he glances at you. "But you! You--you truthers! Go talk to ShadyJoe."
