[columns]On a beautiful spring day, amidst all of the festivities of the season, a rather haphazard looking sign sat crookedly, pointing towards the shore of a nearby beach.
“Dressing Contest Near the Waves!” it reads in sloppy handwriting. While observing it, you become all too aware of the feeling of a gaze boring into you. A glance in the direction the sign points quickly solves the mystery.
An odd looking creature has poked its head out of the water, gentle waves lapping against its rough, almost coral-like crests. Its gaze was almost like that of a hopeful puppy, practically begging for you to come over.
It seems this creature has taken an interest in the fashion of the dragons of Sorneith and has attempted to create their own event amongst the current festivities! Surely it couldn’t hurt to humour them for a bit…?

Other: I decided to go with the idea of a deep-sea mermaid. Just like with fish, the many varieties of mermaids span the widths and depths of the ocean. The deep-sea variety I would think have darker colours and less flashy markings. The light bulb and eyed winds are used to attract prey.

Other: I decided to go with the idea of a deep-sea mermaid. Just like with fish, the many varieties of mermaids span the widths and depths of the ocean. The deep-sea variety I would think have darker colours and less flashy markings. The light bulb and eyed winds are used to attract prey.

Empress once had a single goal: find the Tidelord. After time immeasurable spent searching the darkest depths of Sornieth's oceans, Empress returned once more to the surface, dejected by her failure. Despite the ice floating in thick sheets around her, the water on the surface felt much warmer than the water she was used to. Relaxing in the warmth, she decided to take a well-deserved rest before continuing on.
As she had not seen another dragon for many, many moons, she had not realized that during her time spent in the unrelenting depths, her body had grown far larger than she understood. And while she rested, for many more moons, the local ecosystem took advantage of the large, warm dragon.
When she finally awoke, she was surprised to find a large colony of penguins at home on her back. Labyrinths of coral and mollusks had built grand structures around her legs, through which swarms of fish swam and played. She had not realized until then just how lonely she had become, and with a feeling in her heart that she had nearly forgotten, she accepted that her life had a new meaning: to care for the tiny creatures that called her home.
She still travels, ever slowly, but she never leaves the safety of the shallows.

One of my favorite things about nature is how it always reclaims what civilization creates in it: decay. Abandoned buildings overgrown with ivy; dandelions growing up through cracks in the sidewalk; the family of squirrels that nested in our old backyard grill while we weren't using it; fungus returning our bodies to the earth when our souls move on. I think it is a beautiful thing, and I find a lot of comfort in the fact that no matter what happens, everything returns to the earth in some way or another.

They're currently a witch who manipulates shadows, but used to live in Shadow territory and would frequently explore the dark forests. This is near what they wore, though generally the cobwebs and bramble would be there after his explorations, not before.
