I'm Netrix and after a bit of consideration I decided to give Necrolocke a try because I like Necromancers and want to get back into writing a little bit of narrative-style writing everyday. [LIST] [*][u]Black slime[/u] indicates Plaguebringer has rewarded your faith and answered your prayer and you may proceed with your trials as normal. Your dragon is now eligible to take [b]Dark Sclera[/b] regardless of the outcome of your trials. If the item qualifies as a sign from Mother, then your flesh has been touched with plague and you have passed your first trial. The items that qualify as signs from Mother depend on the difficulty level you’ve chosen. [LIST] [*][b]Easy[/b]: Necromantic symbols, Coliseum Plague Familiars, Materials and Food dropped by Coliseum Plague Familiars, and Plague items [*][b]Normal[/b]: Necromantic symbols and Coliseum Plague Familiars [*][b]Hard[/b]: Same items as Normal. However if you draw an item with any type of bone (Birdskull apparel, bone fragments, etc), you must throw the item into Baldwin to determine if your dragon survives the brush with death. He and a few other hatchlings had even played games pretending to be Necromancers, chasing unfortunate familiars that had been dubbed the day's Lich or fighting off imagined armies from distant flights with the power of Plague. Necromancers had seemed a great deal like some group of mythical heroes, a distant untouchable fairy tail. Or at least, they had been until a fever took hold of him and a few of his friends. The adults of the clan shrugged off the disease after a few days of rest, but among the hatchlings it lingered and worsened. Burning them up from the inside and leaving them unsure to what was happening around them. Warlock remembered the last days of it the least, the concerned faces of his parents blurring into nightmares. Until, abruptly it eased, an indistinct nightmare easing into wakefulness where he saw an unfamiliar Mirror, scales similar to the sand pit he played in and wings red like blood. A hand gently smoothed down his headfins and as she turned away to speak with his mother he saw the red stripes that marked her as a Necromancer. Necromancers where much realer after that, one had saved him and the other hatchlings and with that action had given him a goal. He too would take the Trials and become on of the Mother's Left Hand. So here he was, the Wyrmwound with the taste of rot heavy on his tongue as he scented the air. A small bag of herbs useful for dealing with fever was tied to his waist as he scouted out a small place to set up his camp. He cast a weary eye to the rim of the Wound itself, still some distance away. Setting up there was sure to get the Mother's attention, but his dedication did not outweigh his sense. It was not a permanent abode but it was still better than sleeping upon the ground. Even if supposedly the ground here in the Scared Wasteland was softer than most other Flights. Something about the mycelium here giving the ground a fleshy give that made dragons from abroad uncomfortable. But that really was none of his concern at the moment, what was was stripping what little foliage there was off of these branches to act as bedding and then using the branches to support the larger piece of rotting wood he was using as walls. He wished he'd had the money to buy a tent, mostly because it would have been easier and would have protected from what sunlight managed to make it s way down to him through the miasma above. But he'd work with what he had. And if while he worked the better half of the leaves he collected actually ended up being eaten as a snack then no one was around to witness it so no, actually it didn't happen. His tongue and nose had been burning for much of his meditation today, the weak breeze having changed course to blow towards him from across the Wyrmwound, bringing about a strong scent of putrescence. Perhaps it was a favorable sign for the future of his Trials. He breathed deeply, slowly, trying to savor the weak burn in his lungs. It did not yet feel like sickness, though perhaps it could become it if the Mother deemed him worthy of acknowledgment. He hoped, he [i]prayed[/i] She did. So much of his life had been spent in awe of Her servants that the thought of not being able to join their number left an ache in his chest. So he sat and he prayed. The sickness had still not taken and he had spent much of the day reminding himself that he still had time. It was only the third day, there were twenty more to complete his trials. He had carefully smothered any jealousy at the thought of others having already been acknowledged by Mother. The waiting to be infected was just as much of a test as the infection itself. And he would pass all of Mother's tests, if of course that's what She willed. Warlock hoped that was what She willed of him. He did not know what he would do if he left the trial grounds unacknowledged. He did not think he would hold it against Her, as Her will and touch had saved his life and he was a dragon of Plague through and through, but… It would chafe, if he was left as Her faithful but not Her servant. But all he could do was wait for Her sign and prove his devotion in the wait. And if his prayers were a little more fervent, well no one was around to hear him. Mother had not had to acknowledge him, there was undoubtedly others that had not earned Her attention. He was glad to not be among their numbers. Already his limbs grew heavier, his movements sluggish in the lingering heat a Bogsneak was not made for. It had not overtaken him yet, but it lingered just out of reach. A persistence hunter waiting for him to grow tired and falter. Though it had also given him insight into why Mother had made mirrors as She had. Her most widespread creation, Her most effective pestilence even if some had turned from their roots. They were of every flight, constantly spreading, constantly devouring. Even those estranged from their Plague roots felt the push to Survive, just as their Mother had willed it when She released them upon the world. Though not all held as tightly to Her will as Her chosen servants, the Necromancers. An example of adaptation by their Mother when her creations had faltered. Adapt to survive, though survival was a means to an end. A means to Domination over the other flights. (I am very tired, I have no idea if this makes sense.)
