@SakuraSundae

Thank you for your compliments on how I write Shui, it makes me happy to hear I am doing a good job at making him a villain!

Bluegrass my beloved, may nothing bad ever happen to him.

God, I love Winterguard, she is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

More vampires indeed!

Hehehehehehe with Buttons and Grimm it was almost inevitable that the Dollmaker would make a return!

I am soooo excited to do the split after the challenge!

Yeah, things are going to be interesting with Cosmos, that's for sure!

J GENERATION HATCHES TOMORROW!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Lewsyn and Dawson have STUNNING children.

There will be answers about Ostrich soon enough...

The dragon just chuckled to himself and sauntered closer. "I thought I sensed another dreamwalker in these parts. I figured I'd drop in and say hello," He smirked. "My name is Aesc, twister of dreams and harbinger of horror." "You are who Ether was warning me about," Viva stammered, finding her footing beneath her again. "Ah, Ether would love to get rid of me," Aesc giggled to himself. "But I am difficult to catch. Just let me tell you something, you don't have to follow his rules. Dreams can be whatever you want them to be." "I think I like my dreams to be pleasant ones," Viva mumbled. She opened her mouth to say more, but was at that moment yanked back to the waking world by someone shaking her awake. "Are you alright, you don't look very good." "Just a bad dream," Viva groaned. "Oh, I thought you didn't get those," Sunny looked confused. "It was a surprise for me too," Viva shook herself as she got up. "Come on, let's get this living nightmare over with." The others had been challenging, yes, but Cure had been able to find someway to enjoy them, or at the very least was able to use the hope of immortality and godhood as a driving force. The desire to rid herself of this disease was a strong motivation. The threats of this challenge, however, scared Cure so bad it suppressed Cure's hope so far down, she wasn't sure where to find it again. She had expected the Challenge of Plague to be brutal, pushing all of the survival instincts to the test. What Cure hadn't been expecting was that the arena would be the Wyrmwound itself. Somehow, the Wyrmwound was in the exact position to continue the circle of flowers, and though it was significantly bigger than any of the other arenas, it worked. The instructions Shui had provided was to get to an island in the middle of the Wyrmwound where the marigolds would be blooming. Flying was limited because of the airborne mechanical creatures stopping the disciples from getting through it too easily. There were monsters in the goop as well, some creations of Myca, others natural residents - of victims - of the wound. "I think we're halfway there," Izel said from the back of the boat. He and Cure had managed to find and patch up a rickety rowboat, but it did not seem very promising. It leaked, and Cure was putting her time and energy into bailing out the liquid before it could sink the boat. Cure was just reaching down to scoop out another bucketful when something knocked the bottom of the boat and Cure went tumbling overboard. The wymwound tasted terrible. Cure immediately felt her body scream out for help as it got inundated with more diseases than she could count. In that moment, she thought she was going to die, until she felt a tug as she was fished out of the liquid and onto a piece of debris floating on the surface. Cure's vision was blurred as she looked up at her rescuer. She had expected it to be Izel, but he was shouting from what sounded like a ways away. Instead, it was a tundra who had rescued her, fur shining like moonlight and looking perfect in every way. "You saved me," Cure mumbled. "Normally saving mortals is not what I do, but I've seen you around, I know what it's like to have your disease. I had it for most of my life as well. I feel... a kinship with you, with your experiences," the tundra sighed. "Are you... an angel?" Cure asked before being interrupted by a bought of coughing. "No, I am something much more... extreme." Cure's eyes were clearing and she noticed a flash of sharp teeth. "You're a vampire," Realization dawned on Cure. "Correct," The vampire grinned. "I was going to offer to turn you, you know. Vampirism doesn't reverse the effects of the disease." She gestured at her bandages. "But it does halt it and stop it from progressing. You would not longer die from it." "Then turn me," Cure begged. "I'll be a vampire, I don't care." "Turning you is no longer possible," The vampire sighed. "That concoction that guardian gave you, let's just say it gave you a conflicting condition." "But Izel never gave me-" Cure began, then realization began to dawn on her. "Oh, you mean the experimental potion Klassia gave me? That didn't do anything, I'm pretty sure it is a sham." "It is not a sham, I promise you that," The vampire's eyes darkened. "You just have yet to experience your first full moon since consuming it." "My first full moon?" Cure asked. "That serum held pure werewolf essence," The vampire explained. "Your body has not completed the transformation yet, but once you experience your first full moon, it will be in full effect." "Will being a werewolf cure my disease like being a vampire does for you?" Cure inquired. "In truth, I do not know. Werewolves are volatile creatures, and the effects on the body vary wildly from dragon to dragon. Some werewolves are more naturalistic and in control, some are pure mindless monsters. Some are manifestations of the shade, some are indistinguishable from your average wolf. I do not know what variant was in there, and even if I did know, there is no way of knowing how exactly it will twist you." The vampire explained. "But even now, I know that it is setting in. Werewolves and vampires are often enemies, so we gain senses for one another. That said, I have already stated that I feel a kinship for you with our joint diseases. This changes nothing in that regard." "Cure, are you okay?" Izel asked, finally reaching the debris Cure and the vampire were standing on. "I'm fine, I think," Cure said, coughing once more. "Let's just get to the end of this challenge already." She turned to the vampire. "Thank you for rescuing me. What was your name? I didn't catch it." "Ilyana," The vampire responded. "I will be watching your progress, feel free to seek me out if you have questions. I may not have answers, but I will help." "What was that about?" Izel asked as they rowed away, once they were out of earshot of Ilyana. "It's complicated," Cure said, not sure she wanted to make Izel worry until she knew the extent of what was going on. "Let's just focus on getting out of here alive, before I catch every other disease known to dragonkind." He did not wish to leave without her, even if the detour bothered him. He kept his many eyes fixed on all directions, waiting for her return. He was so focused on the horizons, he did not notice when the goop to his left began to bubble. Grimm jumped as a fae-like creature crawled out of the goop and onto his boat, grinning from ear to ear. "Ah, Grimm, I have found you," The fae cackled, eyes bulging as he looked the nocturne over. "It has been a while, has it not?" "You disgust me," Grimm sighed. "What were you doing in the goop anyways." "Is that anyway to speak to your sire?" Keresneh grumbled. "You seem to have forgotten your roots. The shadow brand of vampires likes to get all dressed up in fancy coats and live in haunted castles and act so mysterious and dignified. You forget the condition that gives you your immortality and bloodlust came out of here, from a little mosquito that bit me thousands of years ago. And yet I watch as my progeny spread across Sornieth, acting like the monstrosity and disease of our very existence is something to be ashamed of." "There's nothing wrong with liking an aesthetic. Besides, I am a shadow-born dragon," Grimm puffed out his check. "You were not born at all, you unnatural thing," Keresneh sniffed. "You were stitched together by an archfey using the souls of lost dragons and some fabric. It was quite the nasty shock when I bit into you, otherwise you would have been left drained in the wastes like all my other prey." "What do you want, Keresneh, I'm done having you insult me," Grimm rolled his eyes, all of them. "Oh, I have heard of Shui and the ritual, like many others. And when I heard you were participating, I couldn't let you have all the fun," Keresneh grinned. "Besides, if anyone is to become the god of vampires, it should be me." The fae looked Grimm up and down. "How if your coven doing, by the way. I hope its suitable for me to move into." "Ilyana and I found two dragons we turned, their daughter, and we have a nest of our own on the way." Grimm explained. "Pitiful. I think I'll stick to skulking in the wastes. But mark my words, you are not ousting me from the spot of most important vampire in Sornieth." Keresneh said, slithering out of the boat and back into the goop. "Good riddance," Grimm huffed. Zarzuela called out as one of three eggs slipped from her arms and into the Wyrmwound, where it bobbed on the surface like and apple. "Oop, I got it," Capriccio said, fishing it out of the goop with a gloved hand and wiping it on his scarf before handing it back to Zarzuela. "I'm sure the kid will be fine, 5 second rule!" Zarzuela couldn't help but laugh despite her concern for the kid inside. There was just something about being with Capriccio that brightened her day. She missed when they could be together daily, living life with one another. But those days would come again, and until then, their yearly meet-ups would have to do. This time, she had delivered the notebook clasp Regra had sent for him, a gift Capriccio had delighted in. And once again, Zarzuela was leaving with eggs. "I wish I could come with you, help raise our children," Capriccio sighed as he prepared to go. Their time was running out. "I've missed out on raising and getting to know so many of them." "I wish you could be there too," Zarzuela said. "But don't worry about me, Sunny is plenty of help, and we'll make do, just as we always do." We did it!" Pearl exclaimed as he touched down on the island. The small expanse of land was covered in marigolds - he could not see the ground. The wildclaw stopped to catch his breath as Atlas and Octavia caught up. The imperial was carrying the snapper on their back as they twisted through the sky, bounding off of various threats. The polycule had decided to parkour their way across the wound, and it had worked perfectly. "Shall we?" Octavia eyed the flowers as she hopped off of Atlas's back. "Once we exit this challenge, we will be ready to build our new kingdom!" The word kingdom sat heavily with Pearl for some reason. Octavia and Atlas had every increasingly been conceptualizing this idea of a 'kingdom' ruled by the polycule, but the way they talked about it. Pearl didn't want that kind of control, he didn't want that kind of power. He just wanted to have fun bouncing around the wastes risking their lives doing stupid things. Plus, Pearl didn't like how empty Atlas's eyes looked when they mentioned wanting to be king. It was like it was not them speaking, but someone else. It wasn't that Pearl was scared of power. Deities no, he was dating the god of death after all, but the dynamic was shifting, and Pearl was less and less sure where he fit in. But he wasn't about to say all that sappy stuff. So, without responding to his partners, he picked a marigold, and felt himself whisked away to safety once more. ----- Next ----- @pinglist-3016 ----- Unfortunately only one chapter for the actual Challenge this time around, this week has been chaotic in so many ways, and tomorrow is a super busy day so I doubt I will have time to write. But, tomorrow, before the mail day, I will split the clan into its new factions! Also, I hatched a bunch of nests today (and a couple of days ago) including the two new ones mentioned today, so please check out the second page of my gate tab and let me know if there are any of the kiddos you want to take in!

You would not longer die from it."

"Then turn me," Cure begged. "I'll be a vampire, I don't care."

"Turning you is no longer possible," The vampire sighed. "That concoction that guardian gave you, let's just say it gave you a conflicting condition."

"But Izel never gave me-" Cure began, then realization began to dawn on her. "Oh, you mean the experimental potion Klassia gave me? That didn't do anything, I'm pretty sure it is a sham."

"It is not a sham, I promise you that," The vampire's eyes darkened. "You just have yet to experience your first full moon since consuming it."

"My first full moon?" Cure asked.

"That serum held pure werewolf essence," The vampire explained. "Your body has not completed the transformation yet, but once you experience your first full moon, it will be in full effect."

"Will being a werewolf cure my disease like being a vampire does for you?" Cure inquired.

This changes nothing in that regard."

"Cure, are you okay?" Izel asked, finally reaching the debris Cure and the vampire were standing on.

"I'm fine, I think," Cure said, coughing once more. "Let's just get to the end of this challenge already." She turned to the vampire. "Thank you for rescuing me. What was your name? I didn't catch it."

"Ilyana," The vampire responded. "I will be watching your progress, feel free to seek me out if you have questions. I may not have answers, but I will help."

"What was that about?" Izel asked as they rowed away, once they were out of earshot of Ilyana.

"It's complicated," Cure said, not sure she wanted to make Izel worry until she knew the extent of what was going on. "Let's just focus on getting out of here alive, before I catch every other disease known to dragonkind."

Grimm sat in his boat, waiting for Ilyana to return from picking up strays. He did not wish to leave without her, even if the detour bothered him.

"It has been a while, has it not?"

"You disgust me," Grimm sighed. "What were you doing in the goop anyways."

"Is that anyway to speak to your sire?" Keresneh grumbled. And yet I watch as my progeny spread across Sornieth, acting like the monstrosity and disease of our very existence is something to be ashamed of."

"There's nothing wrong with liking an aesthetic. Besides, I am a shadow-born dragon," Grimm puffed out his check.

"You were not born at all, you unnatural thing," Keresneh sniffed. "You were stitched together by an archfey using the souls of lost dragons and some fabric. It was quite the nasty shock when I bit into you, otherwise you would have been left drained in the wastes like all my other prey."

"What do you want, Keresneh, I'm done having you insult me," Grimm rolled his eyes, all of them.

I hope its suitable for me to move into."

"Ilyana and I found two dragons we turned, their daughter, and we have a nest of our own on the way." Grimm explained.

"Pitiful. I think I'll stick to skulking in the wastes. But mark my words, you are not ousting me from the spot of most important vampire in Sornieth." Keresneh said, slithering out of the boat and back into the goop.

"Good riddance," Grimm huffed.

"Woah!" Zarzuela called out as one of three eggs slipped from her arms and into the Wyrmwound, where it bobbed on the surface like and apple.

"Oop, I got it," Capriccio said, fishing it out of the goop with a gloved hand and wiping it on his scarf before handing it back to Zarzuela. "I'm sure the kid will be fine, 5 second rule!"

Zarzuela couldn't help but laugh despite her concern for the kid inside.

"I've missed out on raising and getting to know so many of them."

"I wish you could be there too," Zarzuela said. "But don't worry about me, Sunny is plenty of help, and we'll make do, just as we always do."

"Aha! We did it!" Pearl exclaimed as he touched down on the island.

"Once we exit this challenge, we will be ready to build our new kingdom!"

The word kingdom sat heavily with Pearl for some reason.

Unfortunately only one chapter for the actual Challenge this time around, this week has been chaotic in so many ways, and tomorrow is a super busy day so I doubt I will have time to write. But, tomorrow, before the mail day, I will split the clan into its new factions!

Also, I hatched a bunch of nests today (and a couple of days ago) including the two new ones mentioned today, so please check out the second page of my gate tab and let me know if there are any of the kiddos you want to take in!

Ooh, I loved learning more about the vampires here! And wow, I can't wait to see how being a werewolf affects Cure. I've got several in my lair, so I kind of have a soft spot for them. :D

SO THAT’S WHAT THE POTION WAS. Hopefully it doesn’t change how Cure acts too much, at least she had Ilyana to help explain. And poor Pearl :( dude just wants to flirt with (literal) death not handle a whole kingdom.

And I feel you with being too busy to write. That’s been the same for me for the most part, the other part is I just get distracted doing things other than writing lore oops. Hopefully things get less hectic soon!

Also, I’d love to take in Pendant :0.

Oooh dear I get the sense Cure might be a shade werewolf… and Aesc showing up is rather fun. And the vampires certainly are getting interesting! RIP Pearl and Atlas, that blank look is a concern and Pearl doesn’t want to be a ruler. Hello Scallop, I get sense there’ll be problems tgere… the faction split is very exciting. Interested to see who goes where.
