Nice clothing? Battle prowess? Those require money.” “I bet they don’t,” Heiron disagreed. “I bet we can get all that and more without a single coin or gem.” “I regard you with bottomless and unconditional affection, Heiron,” Zen said, “but you’re being ridiculous.” Heiron groaned, flopping down on the floor. “Am not.” Zen sighed again. “Lightweaver, give me strength,” he muttered under his breath. “Can you please go bother Willow until I’m done with the accounting?” “I have work to do, too, you know,” an amused voice said from the office doorway. “Why must you always send her to bother me?” “Because he doesn’t love me anymore,” Heiron said, heaving herself to her feet and skittering over to greet her second mate. “He’s heartless and cold. We should leave him.” Willow laughed. “What are you two fighting about now?” he asked. “The necessity of wealth,” Zen answered. “She’s convinced herself she can get everything she needs with neither treasure nor gems.” Willow tilted his head. “You make it sound like a ridiculous notion,” he observed. “Because it is,” Zen insisted. “Plenty of dragons have taken vows of poverty,” Willow pointed out. “They still manage comfortable lives. It just takes a bit more effort is all.” Zen groaned. “See? Willow agrees with me!” “Why are we mates with her again?” Zen asked plaintively. “Because we love her,” Willow reminded him. “Why don’t we put the question to the test? Our contract here is up soon; we can store our things and strike out to settle the issue ourselves.” Zen looked down at the mess of accounting books on his desk. “A vacation would be nice, I suppose,” he allowed. Heiron crowed in delight, curling her thick neck around Willow and using her tail to pull Zen from his seat and into the cuddle. “I love my mates,” she said smugly. Nothing can be bought with treasure or gems. Items can be gained from other players through free raffles, giveaways, and donations. Items can also be traded, as long as the trade is item-for-item and does not involve currency. Anything gained through fighting in the Coliseum is fair game, as is anything found while Gathering. Items can be gained from Pinkerton and Arlo in the Trading Post. Trades can be made with Swipp and only Swipp, since the girls want treasure in addition to items. Item trades in the Grand Exchange are permissible, but I cannot buy anything for treasure or gems: just item drops and/or event currency. Items gained through familiar bonding are allowed, but only familiars in my inventory gained during the challenge: I cannot use Fiona to farm for extras.[nextcol][color=transparent]___[/color][/columns]

Day 1
All three dergs are now Coliseum level 5. I probably should've checked default battle abilities before I started, because two Meditate and one Guard makes for very slow Coli-ing.

On the other hand, we did get a Nocturne egg from one of the chests we picked up. I might see if I can swap that for some battle stuff. Zen also has his first gene, and everyone's sporting some temporary apparel and a temporary familiar. All in all, we're not off to a bad start.

We received a generous donation of battlestones from ZippoFeuer, so now everyone' properly outfited for the Coliseum and things are going much faster!
