Acamar - A binary star system within the constellation Eridanus


This clan is nestled on the outer edges of the Starwood Strand. The town's gate is always guarded by two dragons, keeping an eye out for trouble. Yet the guards have grown complacent due to the lack of conflict. Everyone is at-ease, and does their best to stay on the right side of the law.

See, (most of) Clan Acamar hates the dominance wars, and doesn't believe they're worth all the pain and suffering. The deities should not fight, nor should they force dragonkind to fight for them. The world was nearly destroyed by the deities' infighting several times, and it's foolish to repeat history like this. As a result, the clan does its best to forge alliances with other clans, rather than fight them. They're also known to adopt dragons slated for exaltation, offering a comfortable new life should they want it.

The clan also has treaties with the local Beastclan folk. They trade and visit freely in return for not attacking the clan. This has proven beneficial for both sides, and many dragons within the clan have at least one Beastclan friend. Lucretia, the clan's leader, insists on paying the Flinthoof Herd for any territory expansions needed. This has led to the treasury being a bit.... sparse.

Despite the peaceful history of the town and how calm it seems now, trouble looms on the horizon. The Wandering Contagion creeps closer every day, and the clan is struggling to keep it at bay. But that's not the only issue they'll have to deal with...

Humble Beginnings

The clan was founded by Lucretia, Amorra, and Halizor. Lucretia had met them while traveling around Sornieth, and the group got along quite well. After a brief stint in Light, though, the clan ultimately decided to move to Arcane... the brightness of the Light territory gave Lucretia a lot of trouble, and the other Shadow/Plague dragons moving in were similarly uncomfortable.

The small group (mostly hatchlings adopted/saved from exaltation) began its long journey, taking weeks to reach Arcane. But after the trek, the clan settled into the Starwood Strand quickly.

Much to the group's shock, though, Beastclan were living in the area. Centaurs surrounded the clan at midnight, ready to dispose of the dragons in their territory. But Lucretia begged them for mercy, asking to meet with their leaders. The centaurs reluctantly agreed, and in the morning, Lucretia was led off alone. Blindfolded with her wings tied, her life was in the herd's hands.

And she convinced them to sell her some territory. The trust she placed in the herd had intrigued the centaurs-- what other dragon would let themselves to be led into a hostile Beastclan camp, blind and unable to fly? It also reminded the older centaurs of the days when centaurs and dragons trusted each other, working side by side.

So Clan Acamar was allowed to stay. It took years to earn the centaur herd's trust, but slowly the centaurs warmed up to the dragon clan. Many centaurs now visit the town to trade or chat, and the leaders who are still alive meet with Lucretia monthly. Sure, territory is growing more and more expensive, but... that's the way of things.

What was once a tiny camp full of hatchlings and three old dragons began to flourish and grow. Alliances with the local Maren and Talonok populations soon fell into place, and there's a tentative treaty with a Serthis group.


The Great Sleep

The clan suddenly underwent a sort of 'hibernation'. It's unknown what caused it, but it lasted for approximately 3 years. They were very surprised when they finally woke up, as so much had changed about Sornieth.

A few months after the clan resumed normal life, a mysterious Tundra claiming she was not of this world was found in the woods. She also mentioned 'the great sleep', despite not being told about it. The clan isn't sure if this is just a coincidence, or if this forgetful and eccentric Tundra indeed had something to do with the event.


The Plague

The clan is mighty and prosperous. But, the Wandering Contagion has become a problem as of late. It creeps closer each day, slowly but surely making its way to the Starwood Strand. Some dragons want to leave, but Lucretia insists that the clan stays put. Instead, a team of scientists was put together to sort the issue out... hopefully.

Janjan, the only hatchling of Amorra and Halizor, is in charge of the assignment. Febris is a skilled scientist working under her, trying to use her Plague knowledge to solve this problem.

Clan Acamar's strength lies in diplomacy. They began by creating treaties with the local Beastclan groups! Lucretia is proud of this achievement, as it took years to win over their trust. It's been quite beneficial for all parties involved.

Aside from the Beastclan folk, Clan Acamar has a healthy list of allies and friends... even crossing flight lines. You can never have too many friends in a dangerously magical world like Sornieth, right?

I assign all of my 'age groups'. Since there's no canon info on how long each species lives, this just keeps it simple!

Usually I assign an age group based off how old my dragons are (eg, 5 years = automatic 60+ in human years), but I might make exceptions occasionally depending on lore needs! Just depends.

The numbers below are in human years.
