It couldn’t have gone better, since his leg didn’t act up at all when landing. After that, he went with his friends to eat at a restaurant at the farmer’s market. It was quite strange to see so much greenery in the otherwise icy and slightly barren landscape. Not that he minded though, this was very nice and quite cozy, even some Blanket Fort cats could be seen joining the visitors for a nap in their laps. A nice finish for a good day.

Competing in teams with dragons from all over Sornieth was always great fun, the sportsmanship was stupendous and the feeling of camaraderie often led to new acquaintances, even friendships among the competitors. Fireclaw had always been quite the friendly dragon, even if he was a bit of a brute when it came to physical prowess and carrying out diplomatic relationships, he would usually not be the one tasked to hold a speech to important visitors. Not rude, but not sophisticated enough. He still always tried his best, though, and everyone that got to know him knew that he had a heart of gold.

Although his favourite events were the ones which involved speed, a healthy dose of friendly manhandling in his category of competitors. It wouldn’t be fun to body a considerably weaker dragon against the rink, but one of his own prowess? Very exciting and fun, and most importantly, everyone always ended the matches on a good note no matter if they were on the winning team or not. The after-parties among the competitors that knew each other since previous years were also great fun.

It would be his last event this year, and the most exhausting one, but leaving it for last and then having plenty of time to rest after the final day of the competitions was a smart idea. The weather was nice, and after the long skiing tour, he arrived back at his guest suite at Starsnow Valley where his friends greeted him with homemade food. Usually, they would eat out or get something sent to the suite, but since this year the Gala was farming-themed his friends had bought produce from the farmers at the market. The harvest was very nice despite the climate, and it was obvious that they had spent a lot of time taking care of all the vegetables and plants. Usually, a meat-eating dragon like him would have to decline the veggies, but small portions had always been fine, and since the clan had been involved in some science-heavy food projects they had started working on a project to make an omnivore diet an option for all dragons, which would be good in an emergency if food stores diminished during a crisis. The meal was hearty, and they spent a great evening recapping what everyone had done during the week. Unknown kept mostly to himself, as usual, but at least he stayed in the same room with them all while Gloomwillow flitted between Unknown and the group of friends. Clarity and Glacynea retold the least dry and even fun anecdotes of their diplomatic encounters this week, while the trio consisting of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos told stories of their fun forays in the Valley and some of their work, but most of the work-related thing they withheld as that wasn’t pertinent to bring up during a fun evening. The secrecy surrounding their missions was a bit of their thing, also the reason they had not spent as much time together with Firclaw these last six years. The after-dinner talk kept going into the night, and they finally went to bed after their friendly evening together.[/columns] [br]------ Updating this post with the award ceremony post extremely late, since burnout prevented me from posting until now. This year Fireclaw hadn’t won any of the competitions, but he had been inducted into the Winter Games’ Hall of Fame, and he had an absolutely fantastic time participating. Glitch had been looking forward to entering the speed skating all week, having had so much fun last year, and now she was in it to win it. She had been training all year, and had learnt to control her glitch as much as possible, other than the one incident at Harvest time but we won't worry about that. She hopped onto the rink, with Selene cheering in the background, and shot off as the event began.

After a good Harvest there'd been lots ot choose from. Hearing a call from his fellow clanmates, he grabbed his skis and headed up to the course. The scenery was beautiful this year, as it ever was, and he enjoyed the event, crossing the line in what he'd call a good time, and feeling fulfilled and happy.

Mossy, or Mosswing if you were being official, was the eldest daughter of the clan's founders, and took her role seriously, playing with the hatchlings, trading with other clans, helping with harvest and Layton had noticed that she rarely took time for herself. So the clan had clubbed together and insisted that she had a go at one sport, and thi is what she'd chosen. It didn't matter to anyone where she came, or whether she won, just that she had fun. And she certainly did, zooming down the course and grinning as she embraced her clan at the finish line. It had been a good season for the clan, and they all smiled and cheered, looking forward to seeing how all the clans did and cheering for all competitors big or small, speedy or relaxed. (Please may I be added to the winner's pinglist?)

Ephemerath and Cloudsofth had paired up at home, and then upon the ice, and when they performed their bond was clear. Breathtaking, in fact. But they had yet to take to the ice for this year’s games, opting to take a day of rest between their final preparations and their competition. That had been just what they needed, to return refreshed, with a tidy harvest of trinkets from their shopping foray. They waited together now, breathing slowly and rhythmically. Cloudsofth was no longer the nervous dragon she had been a year ago, when Ephemerath had first convinced her to join her in an ice dancing program she developed for them. It had been a gift. Cloudsofth added her input this year, for a new routine that was even more romantic. Ephemerath hadn’t thought it possible, but there was no denying it ramped up their emotions every time, showing off their grace and strength, and no little skill! ‘ ..from Windsky Weyr!” the announcer finished. They were up! “Are you ready?” Ephemerath asked. Cloudsofth batted her eyes flirtatiously.”Oh, I’m ready, all right!” she teased, with a suggestive smile. Ephererath laughed - such a wonderful sound! - and led her to the center of the rink. A moment of silence, a pause for stillness, and then the music swelled, and they launched into their choreography, forgetting the judges, the audience … this was their moment! @Saronai

Skating, that is. She had trained all year for the Sorienth Winter Games, and was delighted to be able to compete. She enjoyed the discipline and the strength speed skating required. She was the clan's engineer and had a keen mind. It was only right that she would train her body as well. As she stepped onto the track she took a deep breath to center herself and prepare. The signal was given, and she took off, focused only on her body and how it was moving. When she had finished, she felt very good about her run, and she waited in anticipation to see where she was in the standings!
