I am actually going to keep the Red/Blue/White Nocturne's parents, in case others want dragons like her, pretty sure there's a lot of Americans on this site. xD They're the fourth pair of my "Hypothetical Hatchery", and I'd say I almost have enough pairs to open a thread for it... If I ever wanted to, that just sounds like work to maintain.

And believe it or not, I did not pick up any new projects. Not yet, anyway. These are not new projects. The first one, I actually forgot to mention last update, probably because it was so small and hidden in the small projects tab, and it is already on its way to completion with a 1 in 8 and a 1 in 4 pair.
The second one, I had assigned to myself a while back, and only just heard from the wisher, so have just started it. However, it'll be an interesting one, for I am attempting to get it done with the help of a few breeding requests to start with. Crossing fingers this works out, otherwise it may be a long journey if not!
All that being said, I am [i]dying[/i] to start a new project. Though I have two new projects in this update today, neither feel like a new project to me, and... my nesting situation seems to be getting to a manageable level now. I made some serious headway on the Brick/Mulberry/Yellow project now finally, and the insane Steel/Sunset/Turquoise project is a few nests away from getting some critical progress done. It's what's mostly been holding me back from picking up a new project, because there's so many pairs, and at 20 days for a breeding cooldown, I've been up to my ears in Gaolers since I started this project, but it's starting to slow down now. So... hopefully, once I at least get to G2 for the Gaoler project, I can see about a new project!

@AnguisaThorne, it depends! If you're breeding for genes, and a pair doesn't have a chance for all the genes needed, then you don't need to nest that pair in the right nest, since there's no chance for the right genes anyways.
As for colours, I usually don't bother if the parents have, on average, ranges wider than 10 colours. 10 colours for primary x 10 colours for secondary x 10 colours for tert = 1 in 1000 to nail the colours. Those odds are pretty darn rare, but less than that, and you start getting into fluke baby territory. The worst colour odds I think I've hatched a successful kid from was 1 in ~256, if I remember correctly. It doesn't happen very often at all, but it can. It's up to you if you want to bother with the right nests at that point. Anything less than 1 in 100, however, you will want to get the right eyes for, just in case.
To use Skip as an example, Skip and his partner Warrior are in the phase between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000. Their total odds for right colours, sex, and genes are 1 in 280, so I'm unlikely to get the goal baby from them, but I have nested in Water juuuuust in case.

Currently I have all the genes (and already slapped a smirch on everyone whose tertiary wasn't firefly) but my color range is off the window. I'm breeding a pink/mulberry/white (arcanist's colors! That's what the big project is about) with dragons as far as a cobal/strawberry/white.
In my defense, that boy always gets in the purple or pink spectre, my profile dragon and his relatives are proof of that

Before I dive into Tony's story, I'll just do a little dance that I got these two ladies done as well! The Guardian was definitely an easy one, just a waiting game for Tangara to return and confirm they wanted her, since I had her ready to go, and off she went!
The Gaoler, I had hoped would be easier to do, but as is the nature of RNG, the cards were not on my side for the requested breedings I could do. So, I went with my back-up plan, and since I already had several good dragons to make one half of the final pair, I needed, essentially, half of a 16-start pyramid plan to make the other half, and good thing too, because I remember struggling very much to get all 8 pairs to make the first generation - the pool of dragons for the ancient breeds is very lacking, indeed. Once I had acquired them, it was go time, and I slowly managed to get the project done.
I actually, once I have time to sit down and do it, plan to use it as an example in my breeding guide of improvising the pyramid plan and adding breeding requests into the mix. I better do that soon, before I forget the details of the project.

I started this wish on May 29, 2019. I completed it today, January 25, 2021, just 4 days shy of 20 months. In those 20 months, 37 other breeding projects were completed while I struggled to get Tony.
And the lesson learned? Looks can be deceiving. If you asked me before taking this project if it'd be easy or difficult, well, I scoffed and said "easy peasy, there's so many Coatls in that range!" Well, in the range, yes, with variable genes, yes. But when it comes down to specifics... I am actually the first person to have ever bred a [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/search/dragons?page=1&sort=id_asc&name=&exalted=&progen=&breed=12&bodygene=&winggene=&tertgene=&gender=&body=62&wings=62&tert=140&element=&body_range=&wings_range=&tert_range=&age=&rtb=&gen1=&pattern=&id_length=&level_min=&level_max=&eyetype=&hibernal_cooldown_status=&ancient=&named=&hibernal=&silhouette_unlocked=&sort=id_asc&page=1]Red/Red/Metals Coatl[/url]. There he is, alone. (So far.) Just the colours & breed. Not even counting the genes - which were all gem genes and had to be bred in.

I guess I'll have to draw the tree with just the 7 pairs, I've done that with a couple of my other examples already.
But this time, while I still have my notes... I am going to record all [s]32[/s] [b]34[/b] starting dragons for the Steel/Sunset/Turquoise Gaoler project, since the whole reason for that project was to produce a usable example. So, here we go:

But, thankfully, I had just enough of the dragons left remaining in the project that I could track down the original 8 starter pairs. Huzzah, mission complete for today!

Alright, lesson learned, I need to record my starting dragons if I want to use that project as an example, because looking back to the notes I don't have anymore is not working. I've been putting together the Teal/Rose/Rose Gaoler project on a PSD file to make a sample family tree to showcase mixing requesting breedings and pyramid plans together, and I cannot, for the life of me, find the 8th pair. I guess I'll have to draw the tree with just the 7 pairs, I've done that with a couple of my other examples already.
But this time, while I still have my notes... I am going to record all32 34 starting dragons for the Steel/Sunset/Turquoise Gaoler project, since the whole reason for that project was to produce a usable example. So, here we go:
