Being able to go to the zoo for free whenever I want makes today's theme easy. Here's a snake that the zookeepers sometimes take out for pets!

It's not that rare to see a turtle at the lake closest to my place (usually it's box turtles though), but this once [i]this[/i] happened. I didn't know the lake had that many turtles, and dunno why they decided to hold a family reunion on that log but sure glad I was able to get a picture!

Hermit crabs are seriously under-appreciated pets! We have four. They're fascinating to watch.

[center]I don't have any pets, but there are a bunch of animals that leave nearby! Personally, my favorite is the little chipmunk that has a snacking place on a column(?) near the curb of my street! He usually scampers off before I can get a photo of him (I've tried so many times ;-;), so here's an internet photo instead!

The third day of the contest was reasonably sunny and Grasshopper was in good spirits as he searched around the vibrant garden for any small creature for the latest task. He alternated between flitting through the air and strolling on all fours as he followed the winding paths, in no particular hurry to finish his quest on such a pleasant day.
As he meandered along the edge of the garden he managed to surprise a black and white cat that quickly darted into the uncultivated woods that bordered that part of the grounds. Curious, he peered over the hedge to get a better look at the animal. After a moment it seemed to realize he wasn't following it and settled down to keep an eye on him, eventually relaxing enough to lounge in the shade.
After a few more minutes admiring the creature, Grasshopper quietly moved on down the path and away from the feline. As he headed in the general direction that led back towards the center of the garden, he caught sight of a bright red bird darting over his head to land on a nearby tree branch. He stilled and watched as it whistled a few notes before turning around on the branch, seemingly considering its perch, and then flew off for a different tree.
Flicking his fins at the pleasing experience, he continued along the trail. He'd certainly have plenty of options to report on for the day's task by the time he saw the host again.

(I have [i]so many[/i] photos I've taken in the past that could qualify for this category, but ultimately I decided to go with a couple I took yesterday just because they're newest. ...I went with both because I couldn't pick between them. :P
The cat appears to be a stray from the area and kept a healthy distance between us, but once it was far enough into the woods it apparently decided it was safe enough to settle there and I was able to get this photo. As for the cardinal, it happened to land on that branch almost above me and I snapped a picture before it flew off again.)

An oldie but a goodie! This is Poss, and the photo was taken during the RL Scavenger Hunt for GG 2016!

I was having huge trouble with the mammal one, kept missing Poss coming and going. Until, early one morning, I hear a thump! I grab my camera and slip outside! I realise that my memory card is still in my laptop and dash back in to get it! I take the photo! It's also 3:30 AM, it's 12 C outside, I'm in a t-shirt and underwear, and Poss looks deeply confused at the whole situation mostly because I'm whispering, "Poss Poss, good Poss!" to try and convince her to stay still long enough for me to photograph both her and the paper.
Good times.
(Me and Poss are friends. She not only lets me pat her, she once let me pat her baby!)
