Circuit with Iri/Shim. These were popular back in the day when there were fewer genes. These gem genes were a Status Symbol™.

I don't see other people use it much but pinstripe/trail/thylacine is great. Bee/wasp/opal is the one that strikes out the most to me, although it does get boring after awhile.

Ground/Fissure/Veined is a cool combo and tends to look really good.

I always have liked Skink/Spinner/Contour as well.

i feel like iri/shim/stain or star/con/koi could possibly work?

Ringlets pairs with maybe Giraffe/Hex (but I personally really like it on Metallic/Alloy)
Runes pairs with Skink/Spinner (but looks good on almost any gene, even Basic tbh)
Scales pairs with Cherub/Seraph
Smirch pairs with Marbled/Swirl ig but it looks bad on everything imo
Smoke pairs with Leopard/Clouded
Spines pairs with Python/Morph
Stained is a color overlay, it pairs with absolutely everything but if we stay on theme with a major color changing gene it pairs with Sarc/Phar
Thylacine pairs with Pinstripe/Trail
Underbelly pairs with Tiger/Stripes
Veined pairs with Ground/Fissure

And that's all. I'd go through the Ancient exclusive genes too, but that was already time consuming.

In my first year or two on FR, I saw so many Wasp/Bee/Glimmer dragons that I naturally concluded they were a gene triad. I now know those don't exist (and that said genes were released two years apart), but the damage to my subconscious has already been done and I'll always associate Glimmer with Wasp/Bee.

Part of me is also convinced Ribbon/Eel were conceived in an attempt to salvage Contour.

I wish more people would talk about Flaunt/Flair/Koi
