@Clocks

Mmm yeah. It's a pity because FR is a really great site but at this rate people are not going to want to stay if the site doesn't improve. Two of the people I introduced left after like two days when the NotN started because they didn't find the game enjoyable because they had 'nothing to do' and because they could barely get the site to work due to event stress.

@Pokemon

If you're into pokemon and 'click to hatch/level', GPX+ online is 1000x better in terms of site execution, if I'm being completely honest. They get pretty frequent updates though I haven't been on recently and last time I was there was mention of IRL obligations that prevented the admins from updating for a little while, monthly 'events' in the form of explorations for rare/novelty pokemon; bugs get smacked down fairly quickly depending on how hard they are to deal with. It's still pretty fun though.

Gave up the coli grinding after around 400 chests.. which resulted in not a single egg. took over 200 chest openings before something worth while even started to drop like bears and such..

Might sound crude but for me this event has been a total waste of time I am glad I made the choice to stop at 400 chests. Before I completely wrecked my wrists.

Well that was 'fun'
1002 chests opened in one go - 20 familiars, 1 egg (which appeared in the last 40 ish chests so I didn't event think that would happen XD) and zero scrolls

I'm done with coli grinding, my wrist will not take anymore *fist shake @ RNG*

after grinding, gathering, and buying and everything, i've opened over 2500 chests. while the odds of getting a scroll are rare, i got two, an uncountable number of eggs, and all of the event familiars. yes, they're rare. you're not going to get a scroll after opening a measly 100 chests unless you're quite lucky- i just don't see how the rarity of the items makes the event not fun? if you put forth the effort and stuff, you can get all the items.

you just have to open more than like. 100 or 500 chests.
my digging level is like 15 and i have two coli dragons at like level 16. i hardly spend time grinding- i work full time, there was a holiday, etc.; you just have to figure out how to get what you're wanting. chests are a lot cheaper now than they were at the beginning of the event- if you're so bent out of shape because you only got 10 or so from gathering, or that you didn't get anything from scavenging, grind a bit, get some treasure, and buy some chests.

this event has been massively profitable (for me and many others) as well as a lot of fun- if you play it right.

Opening thousands and thousands of chests does NOT mean you will get all the items.
Which is possibly why people might be allowed to be unhappy and say so.

@Swagset

For most people it's not the rarity of the items that make it unfun, it's the event itself or the methods required to obtain the items. The RNG is pretty bad, especially because gathering is broken when it comes to strange chests and it's been pretty well documented as such, and coli has a handful of year old bugs that make grinding difficult and boring for a lot of people. That the main way of obtaining chests--coli--is also a problem medically for people with wrist problems such as carpal tunnel is also an issue. Alternative methods that weren't, at the most basic level, "lol spend the next two weeks doing nothing but coli" would have been nice and could have broken the monotony of the event for a lot of people.

I don't know about you, but when I have to turn on netflix and marathon three movies just to deal with using the coli, it's not fun. I'm supposed to be having fun playing the game, not begging my netflix list to have something interesting so I have something beside the game I'm supposedly enjoying to look at.

Congratulations on your luck (yes, luck - through no real fault or virtue of your own, you lucked into two scrolls) but don't pretend that the people who haven't been lucky haven't put in enough effort. I myself have opened 3300 chests and have had 0 scrolls. I have talked with people who have opened over 4000, who have opened over 5000, who have opened over 6500 and still have no scroll - because at the end of the day, we couldn't roll the proper RNG number to get what we wanted. This has nothing to do with how hard we worked, just how unlucky we've been.
if you're so bent out of shape because you only got 10 or so from gathering, or that you didn't get anything from scavenging, grind a bit, get some treasure, and buy some chests.
Meanwhile this suggestion is just a suggestion to circumvent event mechanics - because, hey, they ain't fun. I don't fault anyone who goes and buys chests, nocturnes, or scrolls straight up, because that's a totally legitimate means to play the game, but it's not the same as participating in the event. Hence our complaints.
this event has been massively profitable (for me and many others) as well as a lot of fun- if you play it right.
Once again, I'm happy you've been lucky and profitable. I imagine this is what skews your opinion to find it fun. However, that doesn't change the fact that this event is a massive RNG grind in which effort is not really correlated with reward for many people.

Blaming players for the results. Seriously? The results are extremely unbalanced. It's illogical. If it's truly random, then it doesn't matter how you play or what you do.
