Hello, I'm glad to be here this game looks really fun! Any advice for a newbie?

- Keep your dragons well fed. They can’t starve, but keeping their energy levels at 80% or above for at least three consecutive days will get you bonus treasure and gems, and some other benefits!

- Your turns to gather items each day are “use or lose”, so make sure you use all of them!

- (By the way, you arrived in the middle of a special event called Springswarm that grants you bonus Insect-type food items for various site activities!)

- Once you gather food, it won’t immediately be usable for your dragons. To make it accessible, go to your Hoard, select a food item, and click “Convert to Food Points”.

- Your dragons can be customized with gene scrolls! These are consumable items that add patterns to your dragons, which can then be passed on to offspring. Gene scrolls come in three types. Primary gene scrolls affect the body, secondary gene scrolls affect the wings, and tertiary gene scrolls add an accent to either or both.

- You can preview all possible genes on your dragons by going to a dragon’s profile and clicking on the little icon that looks like a cloud.

- Check the Raffles and Giveaways section of the forums — lots of free stuff, including dragons, for newbies!

Update: Your boy looks great with the Noxtide secondary gene! It adds a blue that perfectly matches his tertiary color. Hey there!
Adding onto the advice already here, it's best to take it slow and just explore each feature of the site, learning as you go along. There are quite a lot of mechanics involved and a lot of different ways to play the game, so just poking around and seeing what one can do can be very useful.

Not sure if you have joined already, but flights also tend to have a lot of their community interaction off-site on a flight discord. Your flight forum should have more information on this.

Finally there's the elephant in the room- money. The fastest and most consistent way is to max out the fairgrounds through glimmer and gloom with the help of either a solver or a guide. Once proficient one can pretty much earn 75000 treasure every day in less than 15 minutes, which does add up. There are other ways to earn more currency, notably in the Coliseum, but that is a whole different beast.

Here’s a few quick tips you might find useful…

• you’ll find that you won’t need tons of money (aka ‘treasure’) right away -- there are free dragons (and free stuff) everywhere...check out the Raffles & Giveaways forums…I'll link you some personal faves below...
• give each dragon a Familiar & bond with Familiars daily, for a bit of treasure and some treasure chest rewards as they level up
• keep your dragons well-fed -- over 80% at all times -- to get your daily well-fed bonuses
• Which Waystone (Library menu, left) recommends daily activities and tasks for you, helping you remember to “do your dailies,” and explore the vast world of Sornieth
• under Library / Forums, 1st column, halfway down, are your 3 private Ice Flight-only forums. Be sure to introduce yourself to your fellow "Icicles" and see what goodies, assistance, and activities your home Flight offers their new players
  -- if you Discord, this is where you request access to your Flight’s private Discord server
• your starter or progenitor dragons arrive with all Basic genes (no patterns). If you’d like to change their look, you can experiment with every gene that exists, in Library / Scrying Workshop, or you could add Apparel or user-made Skins / Accents from the Auction House or the Marketplace
• Guide to FR Abbreviations will help you understand “forum-speak”
• to reply to someone on a Forum thread, just type @username and they'll get a notification
• the geniuses at Tiny Little Questions in the Help forums save me all the time -- bookmark them, I'm serious!! xD
• in the upper right corner next to your u/n, down arrow, you'll find your Account Settings -- this is where you set up a Forum Signature, Avatar, & Vista…and also where you can Log Out
