I also have a progen baby with a basic tert! She was hatched when her parents had a much wider range before they were scattered, so getting a good color combo was very difficult. I landed on this one and I loved her prim and sec too much and it was such a low chance to get anything remotely as nice looking, so I accepted a basic crocodile tert! :O [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/70035679][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/700357/70035679_350.png[/img][/url] I actually love the basic gene and tend to prefer it sometimes in any gene slot! i think it’s totally fine to leave a dragon with basic colors but there are basically infinite dragons on site and only so much space in a lair so users have to be discerning about what dragons to keep so using no basic terts as a limiting factor makes sense

@luccamajere Honestly, I'd go with Stained or Peacock. Peacock a little more bc the green goes with the blue and there's not too much overlap of the green onto the purple. And the green in the Peacock matches close to the accent color of her Ice secondary. I don't like having any basic dragons, so I usually try to make it work, or use a hidden tert like spines. Though I have found only one instance where I could not get it to work (sand/stonewash/avacado) for the gene plan I wanted and I had to scatter till I got a good result.

No yeah I've had much the same thoughts myself. I have quite a few dragons with a Basic tert because the color is awful and I feel they just look better with no tert at all, especially compared to an ugly color that doesn't work, adds nothing, and I'm really just trying to hide while still having it technically present.

But I've gotten a few comments over time like "I think this tert could look good/okay if you ever decide to finish them!"
They were already finished. They're not unfinished just because I prefer the tert Basic.

She is a little darling, op. I think basic suits her ngl. Tbf, if she were mine, I'd probably put glowtail on her because it's barely noticeable on baby tuns. But again, nothing wrong with basic, and glowtail is expensive.

I specifically don't like basic terts because it makes the dragon feel "incomplete". I try not to use spines/firefly unless it's absolutely necessary as well especially since firefly's annoying to get lol. But that's a me thing, haha. I don't judge anyone for not wanting the tert to be visible if it's something awful.

That being said, I do have one dragon with a basic tert and I refuse to give her a tert because it does not work with her aesthetic. At all. And she's a perma because she was a gift from another user <3 So basic tert it is for her haha

I don't mind using basic for non-G1s...

But I do care for G1s. Then they just feel incomplete ;w;
