I think it's good.

TOPIC | Fathom F revision round 2 is pretty gud
It's not good. I'm not having any F fathoms after this whole debacle. Went from my new favorite breed/pose combo to "do not touch". Oh well, Everlux have stolen my attention anyway [emoji=everlux love size=1]

I honestly can't tell a difference on my only Fathom F... I cleared my cache and everything OTL. I guess the primary and secondary are both dark and blend into each other too much. Ah well.
I still wish they'd just changed the other poses instead - it would've made more sense to me to adjust those for consistency instead of the pose where this is most noticeable and has the most impact on the dragon's final look. I don't love the creative choice made here but I'm much happier with it than with the initial "fix."

Same as here.
I like the new revision versus the old one but not enough to consider using Fathoms at all. Not a huge fan of Fathoms posing and just how the genes look. Currently would only consider a Fathom Perma as a hatchling.

One also has the old Capsule, which coloured the jaw with the glass (something I adored, RIP)

aaa I didn't know it used to do that and now I want it ;-; having colored bottle glass on the jaw would be SO cool

The Boulder/Noxtide image comes from someone else but I can't recall who
Edit: Forgot to include the CURRENT fix, not the old. Ooops! I'll add those, too, for a complete comparison

That appears to be my girl, Islet [s]with her old tert[/s]! I think I posted the comparison pic in one of the original threads. I was just dropping by to leave a comment-- it's a bit of a jumpscare to see my own dragon hanging around :P

I want to say that I seriously appreciate staff listening to the playerbase and finding a compromise. I was really hoping we'd get a revision like this!
As for my own Fathom F, well, this particular combo with Noxtide still looks a bit off to me. The stripes show through and look a bit busy... But that's just a quirk of Noxtide. I do wish the primary coverage was a bit more opaque on the "wing-arms," to account for busier genes. But all in all, I'd consider this a win.
I had gotten used to the first fix, and I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be used to this too!

I'm... ambivalent to it. I don't like how people are saying it's a compromise, though. It wasn't. They overcorrected with the first revision, making it more inconsistent with the male pose, so they finally corrected it to where it matches.
Though, I think what makes the whole thing look wrong is... Fathom F's lineart and shadows don't suggest that the wing membrane is supposed to fold over the joint, compared to the males. For comparison:

Fathom M's "wrist" looks and visually feels a lot smoother than the F pose. There's a little more detail at the point, but visually it quickly goes away into the rest of the wing, helping the suggestion that the membrane folds over the joint. Very similar to Nocturnes and Pearlcatchers!

On the other hand, the Fathom F "wrist" is a lot more defined, making it look bulkier and like the membrane is connected the middle of the entire arm. Similar to Mirrors and Guardian's front wing.

(Side note: why do Gaurdians' back wing look like that? So detailess and missing the orange at the "wrist"?)
Because of the female's lineart (and shadows), using the secondary makes the wing membrane feel like it's been stretched over the bones like plastic wrap rather than how skin natural contours around bones (look at skinny hands for example! Unless severely underweight, most of the detail will be around the knuckles and then "fade" away). It would be a simple fix of making the lineart's detail fade out more quickly, but sadly, this can't really be fixed since once a breed is released, lineart and shadows are locked to what they are.
For the most part I'm more focused on the forum aspect that staff gave in response. The gene error reports are finally being updated in... well, just in general. They're not being updated in mass every other week or when the threads were actually remembered. Finally the investigating and known issue categories are being used, even if they're for just brief minutes. And the pinglist is consistently being used.
At the same time though, the 45-day window still feels like it's a broken promise that still unfortunately has loop holes so that large changes for the sake of consistency (that time and time again proves that a large chunk of the playerbase does not like) to happen after the dedicated "safe" period, so overall I'm planning on giving new genes and breeds a wider berth (4 or 5 months) before I really interact with them and start projects.

I've had this dragon as a fathom since they released and can tell you I never would have noticed they changed anything if I hadn't seen the announcements about the drama.
