I am insanely picky with eye types! I've given up many dragons with the perfect color for a project simply because their element didn't fit. Depending on the breed, eye type makes a huge difference imo!

i care to the point where it just needs to match / work well with the colors. if the common eye type already accomplishes that, im usually not too bothered
my fav breeds just also tend to have rly small eyes (guardians and skydancers)

Yeah, I always check other eye types when I'm scrying. Sometimes the eye is too small to really be able to tell the difference, but I might look at them as a spiral or something to get a better idea.
As for element, that alone won't make me not buy a dragon. While a matching eye color is certainly ideal, I don't like it when the eyes blend in so much you can't see them—sometimes a little contrast is fun. I've only had two dragons where the element actually bothered me, but both look a lot better after dark and faded were added (and it helps that one wears a blindfold and the other has red-tinted glasses haha)

Aether have such big prominent eyes, so yes! I like it best when the eye colour matches well with their secondary or their tert.

Yes! Eyes may be small, but they're definitely noticeable. I always try different eye types when I scry. Even if I end up covering the eyes with an outfit later, I want to have the freedom of knowing the eyes are matchy if I end up keeping them visible.

Yes.
I'm a G1-only clan, so I have to make due with whatever element my dragon has, and eye types can really help complete an otherwise clashing look.

Imagination is the reality of our dreamscape.
If it's a breeding project, then yes. I'm already putting in all this effort for a specific look so I'm going all the way.
If it's a fandragon, then yes. I want a specific color to be accurate to the character. This usually crosses over with the above option, since I'll have to breed if I can't get the right eyes or very close to them.
If it's a Gen 1? Eh. Only sometimes. Eye vials are very expensive, so by the time I get to that point in the process I'm kinda like dude I can't do this anymore. The dragon has to be finished I don't care. But sometimes a specific vial just looks so good you gotta.

Only on the breeds where the eyes are actually large enough to matter, like Spirals and Aether.
I will get specific eyes for specific dragons like...I obviously want my Flight representatives to...be from the corresponding Flight lmao but I don't usually change eye types unless I have to buy a multi-gaze. Those are getting wiped right off.
