This thing is making me really doubt my sanity when it comes to breeds I'm less familiar with. I keep finding myself questioning whether they were really flipped or just looked like this all along

It's the same logic as with mirrors and photos - you get used to seeing your own reflection flipped in the mirror, and when you see a photo of yourself that's not flipped your brain freaks out. Also flipping pics makes you notice more details because you don't really see the picture when you look at it normally - you see as much as you need to recognize it, and your brain fills in the rest. You only start paying attention for real when the image is flipped (as far as I know, this fact is used by artists to check their art when they are looking at it too long to be able to critically analyze what they see; I'm a doctor, not an artist, so I may be wrong). Even adding new details just makes you focus on the details and ignore the rest.

Yes, exactly! It feels a bit off-balanced? I tried flipping one of my F Fae and found the same issue, rotating her a bit made it fit a bit better in my mind.

Like logically I know she's on a fair angle originally too, but it also just reads as normal to my mind, since I'm so used to it. Flipping images is such a weird poke in the brain.

Oof. Most of the flipped poses don't give me any trouble, but my brain can't make sense of this F veil. Something about the way their mane drapes makes it weird. I think the colors and how they blend make a difference too.
