Flight Rising Discussion

Discuss everything and anything Flight Rising.
TOPIC | Every Fight's Theme/Aesthetic
Hi! I want to breed a dragon rep for each flight, thought it would be a fun goal to work towards. I was trying to do some research but I wasn't able to find much information on the subject of themes and aesthetics for each flight.

For example, Arcane has a lot to do with space and the stars! And Lightning clearly has a steampunk vibe going on. But what about other flights? Is Fire only lava/volcanos and Nature nothing but.. trees?

There's a few options for that. Honestly, clicking around the world map is a good way to familiarize yourself with the vibe and aesthetics each flight is going for. Lore in the Encyclopedia is also a good resource, as are the Dragon Gods themselves, and each Dragon God's profile will have a link to forum posts announcing the various things released for their dedicated holiday. Remember that all the flight's aesthetics have places where they overlap with other aesthetics, and also that just because all [i]you[/i] see is trees doesn't mean that a nature member is dissatisfied with a greenhouse full of dragons they can easily differentiate. ----- [columns][center] [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/clan-profile/1][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/portraits/1/1p.png [/img][/url] Stones, fossils, and crystals. let me see... [emoji=nature rune size=1] nature is kinda like... an surreal forest look, i guess? serene? mysterious?? [emoji=light rune size=1] light is eldritch horror and knowledge themed according to myself [emoji=water rune size=1] water is, well, sea themed but they also have seers and the future/past and whatnot [emoji=fire rune size=1] fire is a bit similar to lightning - they are blacksmiths - but i'd say your description works too [emoji=plague rune size=1] plague is all about survival (a bit like nature) and adapting [emoji=shadow rune size=1] shadow's aesthetic is a bit of sinister trickery + darkness [emoji=ice rune size=1] not sure about ice but looking at Gaolers and the description of their territory landmarks, i think it would be about solitude and order? [emoji=wind rune size=1] wind is exploration and travel, and there's some stuff about wind-like instruments (flutes, windchimes, etc.) [emoji=earth rune size=1] earth... i genuinely have no idea. rocks???

water is, well, sea themed but they also have seers and the future/past and whatnot
fire is a bit similar to lightning - they are blacksmiths - but i'd say your description works too
plague is all about survival (a bit like nature) and adapting
shadow's aesthetic is a bit of sinister trickery + darkness
not sure about ice but looking at Gaolers and the description of their territory landmarks, i think it would be about solitude and order?

Honestly for a better view on flight aesthetics, I’d look closely at the world maps and festival scenes.

There’s a lot of bones and the remains of leviathans along the ocean floor. And a tiny pirate town!

There’s an adorable village inside the labyrinth, it’s in the tree tops and looks super cozy.

I think the sunbeam ruins as a gorgeous, gorgeous port!

I think fireflight’s current background rn is a golden forest of burning trees.

And the colonnades of antiquity is definetly more than just rocks!

I’ll have to come back to ramble on how varied flight aesthetics later. But yup!

Another good source of inspiration is fest skins, especially since you may want each of your reps to wear a fest skin. You can search these in the game database. For example if you put "greenskeeper" in the description field, you get all Greenskeeper skins.

One possibility is to pick out a skin for each flight rep first, and then buy/breed a dragon with colors to match.

Some great comments have already gone in above, so I'll just add on that another way to get a sense of both canon and community-driven flight aesthetics is to check out the subspecies hubs for each flight. Subspecies embody flight aesthetics in really creative ways and can often be a place to get inspiration (or directly purchase) a flight rep. Lightning's Subspecies Encyclopedia is here and we also have a sales hub here (Baroclinic Runners and Painted Vultures are my personal favorites). There's also a Universal Subspecies Hub here that has links to many different flight-based subspecies (it's a bit out of date, but there are links to most of the different hubs there and it's still a good overview).

Other than subspecies, looking through all the map locations and fest apparel can be helpful. It all depends on what you want to highlight!
