» Overview «

The Vorticity Nexus may be well-accustomed to the otherworldly and strange, but even by the clan’s standards, Serafina is an outlier. Not quite dragon, not quite harpy, but rather something fundamentally other. With the build of a skydancer, but the face of a human, she is a creature of contradictions.

While she is clever, kind, and full of charm, those who get on her nerves may see a flash of teeth that are far too sharp for such a human face, with the fangs of a carnivore. Her gaze displays a sharp intelligence, but one that shifts depending on the situation. At times her eyes glaze over with a hollow glow, while at others her pupils appear in slits. Either way, her expressions tend toward the uncanny.

Serafina’s knowledge differs from the other seers in the clan in that she seems to understand the mechanics behind the facade of Sornieth itself. Even the progenitor, Zaleka, lacks Serafina’s additional context, but she can see that Serafina’s proclamations come from a place of truth. While the concept of a “rollover” or “maintenance” may make little sense to her fellow clan members, they have learned to trust Serafina’s assessment of the impacts of these otherworldly events on clan operations. This knowledge comes at a cost, and that cost is Serafina’s tendency to slip into dissociative states, often followed by her relaying messages from what she deems to be “The Watcher” who cares for the clan.

When not acting as the Avatar of the Watcher, Serafina serves as the Clan Guide of the Nexus. She is an adept flutist, and can often be found curled up with her feline companions in a quiet corner of the Nexus Spire.
