Lemures Omg first off I never realized baby medusa has little EGGS? That's the most adorable thing I love it, might need a permababy auraboa now lmao

it's so cool that you named your derg Pallasite! they're such magical-looking meteorites <3 and he has such a good use of a coli skin!
i don't have a lot of my lore written down yet, but i can ramble about some of the names of my dergs and their familiars. most are named after specific species/taxonomic groupings of animals, but here are a few with some (mostly) non-zoological namesakes that i think are neat! :)
(purposefully not sharing the animal ones because i'd never stop talking)

this is Pili and Knell! their names combined make a kind of distorted version of Perenelle, which was the name of Nicholas Flamel's wife. though there isn't any real evidence that either Nicholas or Perenelle were Actual Super Cool Alchemists, Perenelle has as much of a reputation as her husband regarding her alchemical skill. Pili is an alchemist whose practice of his craft becomes increasingly desperate & warped following his wife's disappearance (he's a chill dude he's just sad), so it fits :)
Knell, his familiar, is a totally-not-suspicious dude who definitely isn't goading Pili towards dark alchemy and DOES NOT have any malevolent plots, which is why his name references the sound of a funeral bell. he is very normal :)

Alexander (his familiar is named Triton) is one of two dergs whose full bio i've actually written (yay)! he's named (and kind of based on ngl) Alexander of Tralles, a famous Byzantine physician who authored many treatises and used amulets/charms in his practice. Alexander the derg is similar but more sketchy :)
Triton's name doesn't directly relate to the historical basis, but it's from the red salamander genus Pseudotriton (since Pupowls are canonically related to salamanders) and keeps the sea aesthetic to reference the octopus-ish looks. and i think the mythology reference, as well as the ambiguity regarding which animal exactly the name indicates, complements Alexander's mysterious magic nonsense.

Deirdre is a tax dragon :) she has a short blurb in her bio, but basically she's a tax collector, her birthday is Tax Day, and she's named after Deirdre, who's an IRS inspector in Everything Everywhere All At Once. her familiar is named Bagel because it's a cute name and also because bagels are important in the movie :) i'm not sure if this makes her somewhat a fanderg, and i don't think i ever will be sure.
