Every story has a beginning, and this one is no different.

Besides, where else would it start? I suppose then, that the best place to start with all.. this.. would be the very beginning. My beginning. My inception, before I became the person I am now..before my regrets had people to voice them, before my problems had agents to act upon them.. that would be the best place to start for anyone reading this.

I'm stalling with my words, I know I am. It just seems so defeatist to say that my problems started from the moment I was born. But when I look at this work as a complete thing, and not as little installments like I had before, the only place I can truthfully trace the beginning of it all was my hatchday.

Bitter. Cold biting the earth and making it sallow. Snow dancing with the tempests in the air far above us. I was only number six in line, with five more to go. Such it is that my parents gave each and every one of us the same story for our birth, since you can only remember the weather insomany clutches, before it becomes redundant to offer them any difference. In the cold months of the Icefield, every day is the same. Children can only really be celebrated when summer is here, since you know for a fact it'll be an easy job to provide. But when winter has its wicked hold on the world- and trust me, the Icewarden's domain is where it reigns supreme- each egg is just another mouth to feed and another head to count.

Lemures. The name doesn't mean much and it didn't mean much for my parents, either. A distant relative had that name once, maybe, an old friend, whatever. But it was the name I was given and its the name I walk this earth with.

Winter gave way to summer. The leylines the longnecks walked were open again and dragons could finally be amicable with each other for the short season. Our parents decided that, for all of us children, we would all share the same hatchday, on the first day of summer, the correct time of year to be celebrating and spending treasure. All of us, lumped together. Over the years I came to resent them for this. But now, it hardly matters to me. It's just a matter of protecting the child's innocence, leaving out the gnarly responsibility of telling a hatchling that a celebration cannot be afforded on their special day. Don't let this lead you to thinking my household was not well off- I'm only telling you this to elucidate you on the harshness of the Icefield. How it can be related somewhat to my own harshness.

Macabre fairytales at home tell of eggs laid on the darkest day of the year, how the cold seeps into their yolk and kills a part of the hatchling's spirit. They're forced to wander alone, forever, looking for the part of themselves they lost. Do I believe that? No. But I did once, when I was more prone to excuses.

she's only a couplke months older than the first episode! IDK when you finished her, but the dragon IS the oldest ena)) or well. as close as i can get without having to reach the 500 page limit.... Ena is too popular a letter combo

Thank you so much for the compliments on Corruption!! They were a lucky find, I was mostly looking for some off-colored smirch to get the right vibe and match the outfit/skin, thought the yellow looked nice and slimy, but the fact that the rest of their colors fell in so nicely with the mold aesthetic was just complete coincidence since the smirch was the only thing I was intentionally looking for. I'm so glad you like them, I love my creepy little horror dragons :D Your lair is absolutely gorgeous too!! You have such a fun dressing style and reading everyone's lore tidbits is great
