TOPIC | Leveling Dragon to 25 (Answered)
How long does it normally take to level a dragon to 25?

Context: I'm trying to level some of my dragons up. I'm using 2 level 25s to train the other dragons. One is a classic glass canon and the other is a healer to keep the glass canon alive. Typically I go to the Crystal Pools to train the dragon to level 10 since I have good luck getting groups of four enemies there, and then move up to Harpy's roost cause I tend to get a lot of boss fights there.

I have only managed to get my dragon to level 14 and I just want to know if there is a faster way of training, and how long the training method I am using might take me to get them to level 25?

Thanks in advance for anyone who has help methods. I'll link my dragons below that are in the coli team im talking about in case looking them over might help in some way.

The glass canon: Slug
The healer: StrongHorn
The level 14: Generosity

Side note- the level 14 is being trained to be a healer, and is following the build of the healer that is level 25. Not all her slots have the battle stones yet.

personally I don't use coli enough to give you any solid time estimates, but fast trainers can do 1-25 within a few days if they're using ideal builds

I will say that mages/healers tend to slow things down a lot - you'd be better off running a second melee or a 2 fodder trainer. pools and roost are also pretty low level venues to be training in, if possible I'd advise going to ghostlight or mire (or kelp beds if you think your trainers can handle it) in order to get much more exp per combat

additionally, your level 25 healer is probably gonna want a tincture since the extra points in def/mnd aren't doing it any favors compared to boosting the int a bit more

Thank you for linking the appropriate dragons!

I have bad news. Between the mage, grind build and the QCK on your trainee it's going to end up taking you between 1,250 and 1,880 battles. I don't know how high your battle per minute rate is in those venues but I'm guessing it's lower than 3. That would put you at around 7-8 hours

A lot depends on what you want to spend and where you want to end up. Generosity is about 15% of the way to L25. How much time have you already spent leveling?

If you have money to spend I'd suggest tincturing Generosity (all stats as low as they go, no additional stones) and Slug Ghostlight Ruins 2 fodder trainer and choose a third dragon you want to either have as a grinder or exalts to take the third slot. Doing so will cost 60kt and your leveling time to L25 for Generosity will drop to about 2.5 hours and you'll end up with either a bunch of exalts or another dragon at L23.

If you don't have money to spend I would STILL suggest tincturing Slug, going to GR with Generosity (unchanged, only points to INT) and picking up dragons to train/exalt to pay for additional tinctures. The 4+ hours saved is worth 30k.

In general NO points should be added to anything but QCK/VIT and either STR/INT depending on the build. The coliseum rewards specialists.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?
@SkyBlaze

I do have two other level 25s that I keep on the side in case I need them. I tend to just use slug though because the other two have issues with their builds.

Extra 1: Scythe
Extra 2: HalfMoon

The reason I keep the healer instead of switching out for one of these two is that I find when I go with a training team that has no healer, all their health depletes and they die. Then I have to waste time/resources feeding them and getting them back into battle. Etc.

As for the tinicure, I might do that when I get enough money. When I was making StrongHorn's healer build I was just following a guide, and that is where it said to put some of the points.

@Nightwind

Is putting points on Generosity a thing that needs to wait until the end? I was originally just trying to get her to level 17 to open all the slots, and used her as a main example for these questions.

I haven't calculated the time in total but I can make a guess. Getting her to level 10 only took a brief time out of my day since that was easy. Getting from level 10 to 14 has taken longer though. Every time I go into coli with her now, it feels like such a drag even though I know she is leveling up. I dont know if it is just cause I get bored with coli super easy XD

Thankfully the stones I set for slug seem to fit the link you sent. The reason slug's stats in strength are so high is because one of the extra trainers I had (before I got slug. linked scythe below in my reply to the other person) had even lower strength and was not killing monsters in 1 hit. So I had to give slug even more strength than him. Now slug can kill almost every monster in one hit (there are one or two exceptions)

Now that im looking back at it though, that might have been scythe's build set up that was causing the problem idk.

Sorry if this is all confusing XD im still trying my best to understand all this coli stuff since I am rather new to using it.

Im heading to work now but when i get off ill come back to see if either of you replied. Thanks for all the help!

@NeptuneHalo: you have saps on your teams. Why don’t you use it? Up until Mire I can go for as ling as I want most of the time with two attackers with sap. Unless I get unlucky and bump into bosses two or three times in a row. I never use any healing potions and always refresh the browser when one of my attackers die and the other is at low health and I see no chance of winning.

the big thing about the higher level venues is to pay attention to which enemies are dangerous to set up on - packs that have faster/bulkier enemies, mages that are strong against your fighters and obviously bosses are generally best to skip entirely until you've got enough breath to just keep using eliminate. some of the training builds detail which packs are usually easiest to start on, but some of it does come down to what element(s) your trainer is - as nightwind already touched on, water is one of the safer choices for ghostlight (and kelp beds, kinda) while it struggles quite a bit in pools and mire
here's a guide that touches on the enemy priority in ghostlight and which packs are good to start on

while you're training you don't want your trainees to get that many turns since they aren't gonna be able to do anything in the fight that makes a difference, which means not giving them any QCK - their attacking stat is again fairly irrelevant since they shouldn't be getting any turns in most combats, but it doesn't hurt to put some points into VIT since any hits they take is damage that isn't going on your trainers

even the 136 STR build that scythe has is a bit high - the big thing to keep in mind is that any points that get put on strength are gonna take away from the other stats, which means if you're not killing stuff during your ambush turns (which is usually easy once you get the breath for eliminate, but painful in the first few fights) then you'll be taking a lot more hits or those trainers are gonna be too fragile to stick around for very long

@NeptunesHalo

Technically, no. Optimally, mostly.

The problem with leveling up with a L25 trainer is that they are statted/stoned in order to optimize damage and speed so as to knock off monsters before getting hit. Adding points to QCK in a trainee means they get turns--turns that are not needed and take up time. It's like taking a kid with you and they insist on "taking a turn."

If you are intent on making another leveled dragon only put points in their main stat (INT/STR). That way if things go badly enough for your trainer that your trainee/s get a turn they can do something other than feed healing potions.

When using a trainer dragon pay attention to the strategy portion of Maki's guide. Halfmoon's problem as a double-fodder trainer for the Mire is that she's the wrong element; Arcane is currently the best. Ice takes double damage from some of the mage packs she should be starting on so that's going to be a pain, particularly for one using Meditate where you can't hit back until you've built Breath and have waited out the Meditate debuff.

Slug is Water which is optimal for the 115 STR Ghostlight Ruins build. He'll be more resistant to the mage packs it's recommended to start on.

I took a look at Scythe and that 21 QCK isn't doing you any favors. The reason for a 133 STR as a general grinder is so that no monster takes more than 2 hits except the bosses while still being faster than the majority of monsters (taking into account Ambush). See Sylvandyr's Coliseum Skills and Enemy Stats tool.

On saving food points; IF it's the turn of one of your dragons and you know you're going to die when the monsters get their next chance to hit you refresh the page BEFORE taking your turn. You'll get kicked out of the coli but won't lose energy.

Okay, thank you so much! The way you explain it makes it really easy to understand. ^^ I'll try to figure out some ways to eventually fix my coli crew when i get enough money to do it.
