it's not really the worst thing, but I don't really get the whole "new game plus" fad that games have been getting into lately. Like, I want to know whether I'll get to keep my progress/items, as well as how much and what kind of content is actually going to be added, but they don't usually tell you anything.
And the sorts of games that I've seen with this feature also tend to have rather long and tedious gameplay, so the idea of starting over immediately after I've finished is not exactly enticing, no matter how much I liked the game. It feels like a hook to make people keep playing. And if there's actually story content in it or something, that could have just been included in the actual game.

when you have to go on a quest for an npc but for some reason the npc has to lead you to where they need you at and their walking speed is so annoyingly slow yet irregular enough that keeping up with them is both annoying and hard to do

- Heavy Grinding (some grinding is ok just please don't be majority of my time)
- Unskippable dialog or cutscenes
- Most multiplayers. People are way too competitive

"A dubious little CREATURE getting up to MISCHIEF. This is No Good. The Beast is demonic in nature. Very Icky, no good."
I really dislike when games have different maps and there is a "minigame" that I need to return after I have finished that map and if the game forces you to return it's even worse. If it's an achievement, sure I am okay with it, but if I cannot continue the game without that minigame that was locked before, I lose my interest.

I have played a few games like this but I don't remember what they were. Probably a really old game.

Once, when playing this game Ikenfell, I had to use an invisibility potion that would expire quickly to pass a sensor thing. The potion always ran out before I passed the sensor. I hated it, and I never want to experience anything like it.

Also, shoutout to games where you have to backtrack a lot, or your next objective isn't as clear. It gets worse when there's no immediately evident fast travel system available yet. (Looking at you, Earthbound. As charming and quirky as you are, that is the one thing I can't tolerate(besides how finicky running away is and that one desert area before Fourside).)

- Archaic Combat. I hate going into a fight and not being able to win because I'm just fumbling around barely understanding what I'm doing.

-Vague hints. Just be clear in telling me where to go, there's a reason I quit DQ9.

Also, a bit of a pet peeve that's moreso to do with the art but... please don't make a pixel game then make the character portraits painted. The style will be inconsistent that way. Just don't.

wip sig pls bear with i'm new to this stuff
Missing/getting softlocked out of any content, either due to progression or real-world time. RPGs are prone to having missable items/monsters/abilities as the story progresses, locking one out of areas or removing certain encounters from the world. Non-renewable consumables also fall under this peeve of mine (looking at you, older-gen Pokémon TMs). Real-world time primarily affects online games like this very site, and often has to do with formerly obtainable items. In some cases, these items are still tradeable and can be obtained with a bit of extra effort; in others, they become near-impossible to obtain just because you weren't active or even aware of the game (looking at you, Neopets). Worse still is when these things are completely untradeable, leaving empty spots in one's achievements and collection books. With most offline games, you can at least restart and grab what you missed, but the age of the Internet has seen the rise of temporary online content that's truly inaccessible without possibly-illegal tampering. It mirrors the "exclusive" content of real life, but I sincerely wish it didn't.

This one is REALLY specific but I hate when characters have to inject themselves to heal, I have a needle phobia so it freaks me out. ;_;

I hate toxic players as well! People always forget video games are about having fun and take them way too seriously :c It puts me off of most multiplayer games.

Voiced player characters in RPGs, walking simulators, and QTEs.

Oh, and escort quests with the slowest NPCs in existence.
