Scarlatti's got a similar raging internal fire thing going on, and also had a serious fight with Serthis that "unlocked" all that primal fire energy. I think you'd do him well as a burning firebeast.
Alternatively, if you want a change from dragons. Could you also consider my D&D character's Nightmare?
