Most every dragon in Clan Windfall is a pirate; indeed, what's more remarkable is when one amongst their number has never signed their name to the account, never stood aboard a rolling deck, never held gleaming steel in hand.

Aleru, indeed, is no pirate. Her reputation, and the success of the clan, depends on that. No, she is the clan's fence; selling their ill-gotten plunder to respectable merchants the world over. Merchants who would never dream of buying cargo from the dangerous vagabonds who procured the goods.
What's more, her head for numbers and low tolerance for foolishness have lead the clan into a time of comfortable prosperity that they never knew before she joined their number. The pirates of Windfall might respect their brave pirate captains above all others, but it's hard to argue against a full belly and a warm, dry bed.
Of course, should the crown come calling... there is no difference between Aleru and any of the pirates, no difference at all.

Israel says very little, on any of this. But he is loyal, always, to Khaegris, after the past they've shared. He hears things the Captain does not; the quiet, old tundra does not intimidate sailors to silence as he enters a room. He hears things the Captain would not like. Sometimes, he stops those things from coming to pass. But lately... lately, the talk has turned to things he cannot so easily dispel. Warmth and comfort, oh aye. Powerful negotiators they be, indeed. And a curious weapon to combat when one has no understanding of their call.
