Because of this she's always been a very nostalgic dragon for me, a reminder of the person I was almost 9 years ago. However, a long time ago I sold Gem to make space for newer shinier dragons. Which is an action I've obviously come to regret (I have no idea what was past me thinking) Sadly I have no way of getting the real Gem back as she was exalted years ago to the Lightweaver. But that's not going to stop me! I decided that if I can't get the original Gem back then I can create a copy of her and pretend that she's been reborn/resurrected. At first I planned to buy a dragon with her colours and spend a ridiculous amount of money on genes to achieve her original look, however that plan quickly fizzled out when I did a simple dragon search and discovered that: [i]Only [b]19[/b] non-exalted dragons with her colour combo exist[/i] And exactly [b]0[/b] of those are in active lairs... But I'm rather dumb and not a fan of planning ahead so instead I will be doing a more direct lineage strategy based on my experience of doing the basic to rare challenge a few years ago. I start with 2 dragons of my choice and breed them, I then chose the best offspring, buy a suitable mate for them and repeat the process. This continues until I manage to slowly create my dream dragon over many many [i]many[/i] generations. Is this sensible? Not really! So why would I do it like this? I like the challenge and I want to use the least amount of lair spaces possible. Now unlike the basic to rare challenge I will be allowing myself to breed a pair again if their nest doesn't produce a suitable heir. [center][color=993BD0][font=papyrus][b][size=7]The First Breeding Pair[/size][/font][/b][/color][/center] So to start this project I searched the AH to find two dragons in the right colour range for Gem. (I know it would probably be smarter to start with the genes/breed rather than the colours, but I'm following my heart on this project!) These two will be the first generation of my project. I chose to go simple and gave them each a nice random generation name (aka I spent 20 minutes hitting the Randomize button until I found the [i]perfect[/i] name) I'll have to wait 3 days for Eleena to be ready to breed, so until then she'll be sitting in my hibden. In the mean time I have to work on raising the funds for a lair expansion so that I can actually hatch a nest (whoops didn't realize how few spots I had after getting Aethers yesterday! Neither of my starter dragons have my goal genes or breed but I'll be working on that as I go along. Hopefully. Remmy has a common primary and uncommon secondary/tertiary while Eleena has 3 Limited genes (which I've gotta say is a much better start than the basic to rare challenge lol) Since the genes I'm aiming for are rare/rare/limited I'll be hoping for an heir that has poison, toxin, or firefly (though again I'm currently focusing on the colours rather than genes) I decided to start with two plentiful breeds due to their short cooldown period. You know just in case I get wegged in my first nest... * frantically knocks on the closest tree* (Additionally my only other male option was an imp, and there were no other female options at all) So yeah pleantiful breeds was 100% done on purpose for... Strategic reasons... Yup! Anyway I'll see you in 3 days when I breed this pair and hopefully don't get wegged!

However, now that I run them through preview offspring I'm starting to think I might have made a mistake with my plan for this project. But still, I made a plan and I'm going to run with it! Not that bad but I suspect that I might be trying a second nest for my heir. (Either way I can't wait to see how these two turn out!) I managed to save up for my lair expansion already so I should have plenty of space when the nest hatches. (Unless I go on the auction house sometime in the next 6 days XD )

While I was feeling pretty nervous about this nest when I set it up I was pleasantly surprised by the results! I had initially planned to perfect the colours and then do the genes but I've realized that is probably not the best plan. So the next few breeding pairs will be focused on getting the genes right. I'll start looking for a mate later on since it'll be a while for the new heir to grow up/be rtb For now I need to figure out names for the new hatchlings (especially the Fae)... Maybe something related to April Fools?
