I just got a new job! I am a business office coordinator! It means that I do the billing and stuff for the company that I work for. It's definitely a learning curve but honestly, I am really loving it so far! It's an office job which I have been trying to get into forever.

i was a lab tech for big pharma, but left ~5 months ago for medical school!

now I pay more than what I was making to work lol. As hard and as stressful as it is, I do love it. I finally successfully took blood pressure a few weeks ago and was SO happy. my classmates are all amazing as well - so many career changers. one of my friends is a former ICU nurse. The stories they have of covid are unbelievable.

i do miss my old coworkers. i liked the work too, but the management was atrocious. and it is a very evil, evil company that has continued to screw me over even after leaving. also all the pipetting hurt my wrist something bad :')

I’m a self-employed artist (only part time though cause I got school)
It’s interesting because I have waves of motivation that hit, and I can do like 10 commissions in a week. But then I get burned out and have to close shop for months lol. So, probably not a long term solution as a career option but it’s good for some pocket money :]

Part time (and technically seasonal, but you put the work in all year) haunt actor at one of my state’s biggest haunted attractions, but a full time college student.

I say “technically seasonal,” because we’re only open from August to November with another run of haunts through December (+parades) but we’re re-building/theme-ing the haunt from January. It’s really fun but it’s hard on your body (I personally climb the walls, crawl across the floor, swing through the rafters, etc. so it’s a lot harder on me and the person I covered for from time to time this past season than some others, but you put out what you get in) and I’m always beat when I get home after six hours of running and growling and screaming, but it’s my favorite thing. I also make all of my own costumes and latex masks, so it’s also really fulfilling in that way.

Particularly jazzed because I was one of two winners of haunt actor of the year at my attraction at the end of the previous season :) I’m really proud of my work, and my friends and coworkers are more like family than anything else- something I really love about the haunt industry. You can get real when you’re all sweaty and covered in blood after six-eight hours and you’ve made multiple people vomit/cry/break down/soil themselves (which is something to be proud of, since your guests pay you to do that).

i work as an IT assisstant at an engineering firm! which is still super surprising to me since i have no IT experience whatsoever but they've been teaching me and I mainly just ship things out to employees or to the other IT people at other offices and keep track of all the equipment stock the company has. hopefully this coming up year they teach me more of the troubleshooting and whatnot!

i also on the weekends work at a craft store for the stocking shift in the early mornings. ive worked there for just over 8 years now and left the full time manager postition there for my current full time IT job but i didn't want to lose out on the good discounts and i'm way too emotionally attached to the store after being there for so long so i just kept weekends and help them out where i can :-(

Registered veterinary technician here, been doing this for 10 years now (yikes! time flies). I started at a general dog/cat/'pocket' mammal clinic but since 2017 I've been working at a cat-only clinic, because cats are awesome.

The RVT (or LVT, CVT, whatever your state labels us as, if they do at all...) field is on the verge of some major changes in the near future. We're working to get more consistent accreditation across the country and to bring the job in general up to the same level as human nurses--ie we're getting more specializations you can study for and we're trying to make changes to laws to allow us to do the same things for animals that a RN or LPN could do for people.

At the same time, the veterinary field is having the same pressures as human medicine when it comes to private practices getting squeezed out of the competition by corporations. I'm in a private practice now and I absolutely refuse to work corporate, but I can see in the future it'll be next to impossible to NOT work corporate :/. But by that point I may be ready to retire/move on to something else anyway--I could see myself moving into research at one of the local universities, I do have an interest in lab animal medicine!

I build caskets. :) It's not as edgy as it sounds, lol. I'm responsible for the upholstery.

I'm a children's librarian! I enjoy my job; it's fun making sure families have a comfortable place to read. I love hearing from kids about what books they love. My favorite part about the job is making seasonal events.
I think the only thing I dislike is the pay, it's incredibly low, and absolutely unlivable. I have to work a second job (art commission, patreon, graphic design) in order for me to keep above the poverty line unfortunately. Still, it's a very nice job. Pretty quiet. The hardest part is making faxes and copies and helping people with computer work.

As for zoology, I used to work as an intern at a museum, specifically in the reptile and invertebrate department (I love snakes and insects, so I had no trouble). It was VERY FUN but hours were long, and sometimes it was extremely difficult physically when I had to work on a farm (that the museum hosted) for +7 hours with no breaks in the summer. So, it depends on what you're looking for.
