She didn't think she deserved such honor for taking the crown from a dog to return it, but with those that cheered for her, her heart swelled. She was also astonished to see three familiar faces standing with her. Marsala (@Magmish), who had sent her Lily to give a potion. Odin (@Lundlaeva), who sent his seekers to aide the children she had saved. And finally, Missing (@shoydragon), who had helped her assist another dragon on the battlefield. She would remember all three of them for the rest of her life, she owed them all greatly. When Ramses suggested that the heirs could crown someone else they wanted to honor, Zicatela came up at a loss as to whom else she would have given her crown to. Then again, there were others who were brave enough to fight the Emperor as well, any one of them deserved the honor. Then came the crowning of Sliva as the successor. Zicatela thought it was appropriate, as the skydancer looked stately and noble. Zicatela watched as the crown was placed on Silva's head, and hoped that the Skydancer would take mercy on Lumi, as now she was the one to decide his fate. Zicatela then shook her head. It was out of her claws now, and even though the General said that everyone who came to the contest could give a suggestion, she felt that at this point everyone had already shown their stance in one way or another. Zicatela thought back to the evening before, sighing. She had wanted to share a meal with Lumi, but was turned away by the guards, instead she shared the food they had purchased with many of the hatchlings that had come to celebrate Briteshine. Nevermind that now, she had dragons to thank and goodbyes to say. She was ready to return home after all this, but not without saying goodbyes to those who she was indebted too. She walked turned to Marsala, Odin, and Missing, joining them after the honors were finished being given out. "I just wanted to tell you, I am indebted to you all," She said to them using her rune magic. "Missing, you helped me aid that injured dragon on the battlefield. Marsala, you're familiar helped me keep my guard up, and yours Odin, they helped me reunite those children with their families. I will never forget any of you. If you ever come to the Starfall Isles, you're welcome to come to the Lapidian Villiage in the Starwood Strand for a visit." She offered. "Only if you want to, of course." Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lachlan (@Avmire) a short distance away, having attended the closing ceremony seemingly on her own. Zicatela remembered seeing her on the battlefield after she had escaped with the children, and realized that she must've been the one to cast the lightening that helped Zicatela get just enough cover to get the children to safety. She would be the one Zicatela would give her honor to. "Lachlan, right?" Zicatela's runes said when she approached. She took the heir crown from her head. "I want you to have this, as I am also indebted to you as well. If not for your aid, I might not have been able to get those children off of the battlefield. Your attack helped incapacitate Luminax after he tried to kill us. You deserve this honor as much as I do, if not more. I'm sorry we couldn't have gotten to know each other better. You can also come for a visit at any time, if you so choose." With that Zicatela nodded to her family. Hakone laid a hand on her shoulder and Nissi bumped her wing affectionately. They would hang around for a little longer to wrap up with anyone else who wanted to say goodbye, but soon they would return to their villiage in the Starwood Strand.
Ajfjwhxbf I'm on mobile and the middle of moving so I hope this doesnt come off as too rambly. Zicatela blushed as she was honored as one of the final heirs. She didn't think she deserved such honor for taking the crown from a dog to return it, but with those that cheered for her, her heart swelled.

Actual post coming soon, but @reFaux @Dessy Laith rolling a 99 to keep the crown he wants to destroy or give away is so funny to me

Also @Askurasaki oo, you beat me to giving a crown to Lachlan! This is good though, because it will hopefully allow missing to make amends with someone else instead. :)

"Terrible," the rattlesnake hissed, "We got last." "Never even managed to pass third," the chinchilla said. "Well, our mission was a success!" The corgi said, "So that's one win for us!" "We still lost!" The luminax plushie called out. "Well, I think we've all worked very hard this week and deserve a nice, long rest, don't you think?" The corgi said diplomatically. The assembled woodland beings nodded. "Let's go home - I've sent The Garden Party a message to prepare us all the grandest to feasts." Cheers erupted from the assembled furry beings as they all made their way back to Earth territory, two swirling masses merging into one. There they rest, until the time comes again for them to bring chaos and democracy to Sornieth once more.

The flight back was a quiet one, as Mura knew what was to come. The heirs would receive their prizes and The Successor would be chosen. Mura knew she had not made another attempt at the crown since challenging Lachlan, but she still held out hope that maybe, just maybe, she could win the popular vote. As she approached the Sanctum, a familiar yellow Mirror approached her. [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "Mura! I'm so happy to see you! How was the event?" [/columns] The group alighted on the roof the Sanctum, joined by Brightbert. Mura gave them a brief summary of what happened, and explained how she still had the coronation event to attend. [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "Deacon and I were so worried! I'm glad you two are in one piece. But enough about us, we can talk about the races once your event has formally concluded. Make sure to bring us some hors d'oeuvres when you're done!" [/columns] After a brief embrace, the two Skydancers entered the Sanctum. Mura had been so nervous upon first arriving that she really hadn't appreciated how much food there was! She motioned for Midori to sit down with her as she piled her plate high with delicacies: honey cakes, toasted hot pepper crickets, steamed grub wrapped in aromatic leaves, and all sorts of fruit and berries Mura had never seen before. The two ate their fill, intermittently sharing morsels with the psywurm who had stuck with them through thick and thin as the rest of the contestants filled the room. Once everyone had arrived, Ramses called the heirs forward, giving his spiel about the reward they would get for possessing the crowns on the last day. Mura perked up as he mentioned how the heirs could give the crown away if they so desired. She would have liked to bring her clan home a souvenir, something to show for her efforts. But she didn't get her hopes up. She looked at the dragons who bore the heir crowns and only really recognized Orfhlaith and Marsala. She didn't know Orfhlaith very well aside from that one time she barked orders at him, and Marsala was just as deserving of the reward as she was. She locked eyes with her and raised a glass to her in congratulations. Midori, on the other hand, stared at Laith, head cocked to the side. What was it you were saying about the crown only being a bad influence?
After a pause, the Coatl continues, "Now, here is the moment each one of you has been waiting for. On this final day, the citizens have voted on the successor to the legendary crown..." Ramses opens a scroll, the very same one he had been reading out on the first day. "And the successor is... Silva!" [emoji=light rune size=1][emoji=gold crown size=1][emoji=light rune size=1] Silva "Congratulations!" The Daylight Sanctum scholars applaud as Ramses calls Silva forward. From a tasseled cushion, he carefully picks up an elaborate crown and places it on the Skydancer's head. Several other dragons watching the ceremony cheer as their new leader is crowned. "Our successor to the crown!"
Mura felt sick. It was one of the Skydancers that had been awarded an heir crown at the beginning of the event. Aside from that, she couldn't even remember seeing her since heading for the Hewn City. Why was she picked? What did she have that Mura didn't? Did they consider her less of a Skydancer? Were they preferential to Silva being a Light native? She suddenly remembered that rapier stuck in the teeth of the Light Head of Luminax. Had she gone to fight and win all the glory while Mura had busied herself evacuating citizens? Midori and the psywurm noticed Mura seize up, the psywurm climbing onto her shoulder and Midori grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze. But it wasn't enough. She stood up suddenly but quietly and hurried her way out of the sanctum. Midori gathered up their food on one of the table mats and followed her out. Outside, the stars were beginning to appear in the night sky as the rosy glow began to disappear on the western horizon. Deacon and Brightbert were waiting at the entrance and tailed Murasaki as she flew around to the back of the sanctum. [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "Did you win?" Mura held onto her psywurm tightly as it curled around her arms, glowing softly. I did not." [/columns] [columns] "Well, the denizens of the Light Flight must have been staring at the sun for too long because you would have to be blind to think you aren't true leader material!" [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] [/columns] [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "Exactly- hey, what happened to that Imperial you were talking about. Weren't they going to sentence him today?" [/columns] By now Midori had wrapped his tail around his mate, not saying a word. Deacon had inched closer to her, linking Mura's arm with hers. [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "It doesn't matter now. It's the successor's decision..." [/columns] Tears welled up in Mura's eyes and began to fall onto the psywurm she held, which shook itself off and instead took her place at her side as she gently wept. Mother was right. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry... Brightbert was nodding along sympathetically while sneaking a bite of grub every so often when Midori tapped him on the shoulder. [columns] [nextcol] aaa [nextcol] "I'm gonna go see what's happening in there. I'll be back shortly. Brightbert?" [/columns] He made a motion for the Spiral to come along, and the light-eyed dragon and the shadow-eyed dragon snuck back into the sanctum. He was curious as to what would become of Lumi, and he wanted to keep an eye on Laith before he left. Midori, on the other hand, stared at Laith, head cocked to the side. What was it you were saying about the crown only being a bad influence?

Dessy wrote:
After a pause, the Coatl continues, "Now, here is the moment each one of you has been waiting for. On this final day, the citizens have voted on the successor to the legendary crown..."

Ramses opens a scroll, the very same one he had been reading out on the first day.
"And the successor is... Silva!"

Silva
"Congratulations!" The Daylight Sanctum scholars applaud as Ramses calls Silva forward.

24388984p.png aaa "Did you win?"

____________________________________"Did you bring any hors d'oeuvres?" aaa 48264273p.png

Deacon shot a glare at Brightbert, who began to apologize just as Midori rounded the corner with the food. Mura held onto her psywurm tightly as it curled around her arms, glowing softly.

7107404p.png aaa "I... no. I did not."

"Well, the denizens of the Light Flight must have been staring at the sun for too long because you would have to be blind to think you aren't true leader material!" aaa 24388984p.png

48264273p.png aaa "Exactly- hey, what happened to that Imperial you were talking about. Weren't they going to sentence him today?"

By now Midori had wrapped his tail around his mate, not saying a word. Deacon had inched closer to her, linking Mura's arm with hers.

7107404p.png aaa "It doesn't matter now. It's the successor's decision..."

Tears welled up in Mura's eyes and began to fall onto the psywurm she held, which shook itself off and instead took her place at her side as she gently wept.
Mother was right. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...

Brightbert was nodding along sympathetically while sneaking a bite of grub every so often when Midori tapped him on the shoulder.

7001491p.png aaa "I'm gonna go see what's happening in there. I'll be back shortly. Brightbert?"

He made a motion for the Spiral to come along, and the light-eyed dragon and the shadow-eyed dragon snuck back into the sanctum. He was curious as to what would become of Lumi, and he wanted to keep an eye on Laith before he left.

@reFaux @Magmish @Velkhana Don't mind Murasaki's pity party. She's just super disappointed. Congrats to Velkana for being the grand winner!

And, picking up upon the whispers of the crowd behind her, their feelings turbulent, powerful. Wings were drawn in, attention now garnered. She would sweep her gaze over her fellow competitors; Lumi had been a point of great discussion, and as such, Silva had learned of their intentions. Turning now, head raising up to gaze towards Lumi, speaking to them directly. "Your fate.. For a time, you will aid those clans who have been affected by the Emperor's rampage, as your punishment. I wish for you to hear their stories, to listen and learn that you are not alone - and to see, that not all clans are like your own, that won't leave their fellow dragon behind. I will keep an eye out, to make sure you are treated justly - as I will be assisting myself. After that.. I believe a number of my fellow competitors would love to take you in, and I implore that you visit all of those whom offered. Perhaps there, you will find the love you deserve. Not all are born to rule.. But every one of us can make a difference with each step we take. Perhaps, at the end of this path of redemption, you will find yourself to be capable of leading, to show others compassion and forgiveness." Stepping back, nodding once to the glittering coatl and the fierce wildclaw. "Release them, please. Leaving them in chains serves nobody but those who want to see immediate punishment, instead of reformation and redemption." Perhaps this was the universe's way of stating that she needed to take charge herself.. Or an ironic joke of the gods.

Nevertheless, Silva accepted the title with grace, spending the rest of the evening talking amongst her fellow constestants and citizens alike. Her gaze flitting over to a certain pale imperial and his sons, thoughtful, quiet.

After a time, when the clamour of voices settled, and many were absorbed in conversation with their peers, the crowned successor departed from her seat, and made her way over to Zerah - nodding once to his sons as greetings. "Do with it, what you will. I have no need for it's symbolism. And, hopefully I hear word of your deeds, before long."

The warm summer zephyr, accompanied with the groaning of massive, aged doors drew her attention to the entrance. And, upon sighting that fateful Imperial, Silva knew exactly what was going to occur next. And, what must be done.

Taking wing, she would rise up to hover afore the dragon, taking note of the sorrowful way he carried herself, the remorse in his gaze; emotions she too felt in her antennae. Genuine. And, picking up upon the whispers of the crowd behind her, their feelings turbulent, powerful.

To forge ahead!"
