The Arizel Project

In a time long before the age where dragonkind turned their backs on the ways of Ancient Magic, there was a mighty race known as the Spirits. They were god-made, but sent to walk among regular dragonkind. They were immortal, magical shapeshifters, and yet they were fascinated by dragons. Now, all have vanished except Arizel - the child of a Spirit and dragon. Lonely being the last of their kind, Arizel has vowed to find other Spirit-dragon hybrids to create their own people so that they will never be alone.

To do this, they have begun gathering distant descendants of the Spirits whose magical genes have been long dormant, in hopes of one day bringing them and the powers they hold back to life.

The Rules

First off, this is a breeding project, but the point is not to come up with one dragon as an end result. Instead, we're just trying to breed as many dragons with the qualifications as possible, and come up with a decent story along the way.
 1. To be eligible to have the full abilities of a Spirit, a dragon's colors must be XXY with Ivory as the tertiary color. The other colors can be anything you want
 2. If a dragon has the correct color combination, they might have Spirit abilities, depending on what tertiary gene they have. (see below for more details)
 3. If a dragon has the correct gene and not quite the correct color combination, they may have very weak or uncontrolled variants of a Spirit's abilities.
 4. When deciding whether a dragon without the right color combination has special abilities, either flip a coin or just go with whatever works best for the overall story.
 5. Every dragon must have a name, a brief bio, and be leveled to at least 10 before they are either exhaulted or sold.
 6. When acquiring new dragons, you cannot buy an XXY.
 7. No dragon can be bought for more than 7g or 10t.
 8. Unless they have a special ability, no dragon (other than Arizel) can stay in the lair for more than five months.
 9. No dragon can be bred more than three times.
 10. Have fun

Before meeting Arizel, he was a loner, with no attachments and little care whether he lived or died. Surprisingly to the dragons who knew him, he was more than eager to join Arizel, seeing it as his chance to finally have a place to belong. As their little clan grew, he quickly carved out a place in its leadership as Arizel's right-claw. His level-headed compassion contrasted well with Arizel's more demanding leadership style and it is said that he is the only person who the mighty dragon truly trusts. Some time after the clan was founded, Caleb met a new recruit named Esme and they became the first to nest together, resulting in two hatchlings, Elmer and Cora. Though neither child is much more magically inclined than their parents, they grow up with a place of privilege in the clan, both as its first hatchlings and under the special interest of Arizel, who acted as a grandparent to them. Magnus A year ago, Magnus would never have even considered taking Arizel's offer. Hell, even a month ago, if a strange dragon had come to town asking him to leave his place of comfort and privilege in his own clan to join a hand full of oddballs on their lunatic quest, he'd have sent him packing. But that was before his clan discovered the reason for his wealth - that he was stealing from them. After that, the oddballs looked pretty good compared to life as either an outcast or a prisoner. Sometimes, Magnus wonders about the suspiciously convenient timing of the whole affair, but it's best not to dwell on such things. Since joining Arizel's clan, Magnus has been far from its most cooperative member, not fully understanding how level-headed dragons like Caleb or Mae could so readily believe Arizel's tall tales. He is still half convinced that the entire thing is an elaborate scam. But even if it is, he has always loved a challenge, and scamming the scammer would be a very good story. Mae If asked what dragon were to be lured off by a mysterious figure and a promise of magic, most dragons of the Hill Top clan would have guessed themselves before Mae. Plain, sensible, deviously intelligent, Mae has long been a respected member of her clan ever since taking over her family's apothecary business. Under her keen leadership, it grew from a humble shop to the largest in their region, servicing several clans outside her own. After she chose to leave all that behind to go with Arizel, rumors ran rampant: he had hypnotized her, some business rival had blackmailed her into going, or she was just pretending to go along with him in order to gain new, magical healing potions to bring back to her clan. However, anyone who knew Mae well (which was really no one outside her immediate family) would say her decision was not as surprising as it first seemed. They knew that she had grown up with her nose buried in books on the old days of magic. They knew about the hours she'd spent in her childhood attempting to learn to change her shape or move objects with her mind. Of course, back then, everyone thought this was a childish fantasy she would grow out of. Only years later would they realize that she never had. Upon joining the clan, Mae promptly took up with Arizel, nesting a clutch of eggs together. Along with Caleb, she was one of the only dragons Arizel truly trusted, and she is the only dragon who has ever been able to change his mind once he made it up. Despite the clan's early obstacles, she had only grown more convinced of the cause. Finally, her hopes were realized when one of her first children, Celia, began showing signs of magic. Though it was weak and uncontrolled, it was all Mae needed to double down on their goal. Lulu Some find it difficult to believe that despite carrying dormant magical genes, Lulu is not herself magical. Many would swear that she has the power of invisibility. In reality, she is simply very good at not being noticed. Despite being one of the earliest recruits to Arizel's clan (only third after Caleb and Mae) she has never sought power or influence, instead content to act as the clan's chief food gatherer. Esme All her life, Esme has been seen as a reckless good luck charm. Most hatchlings develop a healthy fear of getting hurt or dying. She never did. The reason for this is because she cannot feel pain. And yet, no matter how many crazy, dangerous stunts she pulls, she never seems to die, or even get seriously injured. Even when she does get hurt, her wounds seem to heal faster than normal. Esme herself has never been able to explain why. This strange ability and her nonchalant attitude has made her outsider in her own clan, regarded with a mix of awe and fear. Unsurprisingly, she was only too glad when a mysterious dragon appeared who seemed to have the answer to her problems. Caleb learned about Esme while on a trip to her clan for supplies. Intrigued by the local rumors, he sought her out. It only took a few moments of conversation before he realized he had found someone special. A return trip with Arizel confirmed his suspicions. They invited her to the clan. Though hesitant at first, Esme eventually decided to take the risk. She quickly found her place as a hunter and defender, but even though she has built a home, it is not without tension. Despite Arizel's insistence that she be more careful, she has never given up her reckless ways. Both dragons' stubborn natures have lead to many conflicts that usually require Caleb to step in to resolve. Not long after joining the clan, Esme began looking to Caleb as more than a companion. He accepted her quirks in a way that few had before. Eventually, their relationship bloomed into a romance and they nested the clan's first clutch of eggs together. Silas Silas' "strangeness" began showing when we was a mere hatchling. He began picking up the thoughts and feelings of his fellow clan mates, often so loudly that they overwhelmed his own. No one believed him at first. His siblings were all normal, healthy dragons. Then, disaster struck and it became impossible to doubt the things Silas was experiencing. There was a cave in, blocking the entrance to where Silas' siblings and many of the clan's other hatchlings were kept. It took several days to shift all the rubble and by the time they did, several of the youngest and weakest, including all of Silas' siblings, were dead. The ones who remained were numb with terror, but all clearly repeated the same thing - that Silas had caused the cave in. Not knowing what to believe, Silas was removed from the others and placed in another cave by himself. Scared and angry, his powers began appearing without his control. He toppled rocks and led to the injury of one of his guards. The clan was forced to come to the horrible truth that Silas was too dangerous to be allowed to live among them. He was permanently trapped in the cave so he couldn't do any damage to anyone other than himself. There, he grew to dragonhood, confused, lonely, and bitter. And it was in that state that Arizel found him. It did not take much convinced to bring Silas into the clan, but his inability to filter out others' thoughts and emotions, mixed with his dangerously uncontrollable telekenetic powers soon made Arizel realize that he would have to be "handled" if he was to stay in their clan. In time, Mae managed to devise a mixture of herbs that had some success neutralizing at least Silas' telekenetic abilities. He still was often overwhelmed by the rest of the clan's feelings, but now was not as much of a danger to them. Unfortunately, Silas didn't find much more company with his new clan than with his old one. He only interacted with the others as needed and mostly kept to himself. Leona Leona was a member of the same clan as Silas, and one of the hatchlings who survived the cave in. While most of the other hatchlings developed an intense fear of the dragon who had inflicted that experience on them, she became fascinated with him. That, coupled with anger at the head of her clan who had declared that she would nest with his son, drove her answer honestly when a stranger inquired about any nearby dragons with strange abilities. Her only condition for revealing Silas' location - that Arizel would take her too. Luckily for her, Arizel already saw her as a potential valuable recruit, and so readily agreed. Upon arriving at the clan, she soon realized that her new home was not as perfect as she had hoped. She was still under the strict control of Arizel and the other clan leaders, all of whom expected her to have children to further their cause. Almost as bad, the mysterious Silas appeared just as dangerous as everyone had always told her. Only a month after joining the clan, she began devising her escape. Coming from a war-torn clan that was split in two when its leader passed leaving two heirs, Honey knows first hand the results of failing to maintain vigilance. Despite swearing allegiance to the leader who claimed the land his lair occupied, Honey never felt much loyalty to either side. In fact, the only loyalty he ever felt was to his nest mate and best friend, Jacob. The two were inseparable both as hatchlings and adults. When Arizel first approached him to leave, his one condition was that Jacob come too. Arizel agreed, albeit reluctantly and with a lot of persuasion from Caleb, but in the end, Jacob himself decided to stay. Suspicious of the cult-like nature of Arizel's clans, as well as the claims of magical dragons, Jacob refused to go. The conflict between the two ultimately shattered their relationship. Honey became a full member of the clan, taking up the role of scavenger and food gatherer. However, part of him still wishes to return to his old home, even despite its dangers. Sensing this, Arizel quickly instructed his most loyal followers to keep a close eye on Honey. Ernst was considered a more thoughtful and clever alternative, so it was determined that he should go along, at least until someone else could be found to take the role or Albert mellowed with age and experience. Cora

As one of the first hatchlings of the clan, Cora grew up having no knowledge of the outside world. She always felt trapped in the clan and could never understand why her parents were so loyal to Arizel and his cause. When she came of age, she decided to leave the clan and make her own way in the world.

Grace

Despite living in relative comfort and security, Arizel's clan was not safe from all fatal forces. When a sudden and dangerous disease swept the town, Grace was the first to succumb. Her brother, Cecil, gifted with weak healing abilities, tried desperately to save her, but his powers were so uncontrollable that he never stood a chance. Grace is remembered as being a warm, kind, playful person, who always made the best of any situation.
