ooooooo ooohal tensed as they entered the room, only to be caught under the gaze of several important dractare. tightening his jaw and straightening out his shoulders, his interest bounced from council member to council member, even noting the same imperial female that he'd previously been interested by — ceres. alright, so behrad had already presented himself as a fool to one and she hadn't immediately ended him. got it. glancing to autiot and deimos as the two introduced themselves first to a banescale closer to their age, hal shifted carlyle in his arms and stepped forward, nodding and then more awkwardly, bowing near his companions before standing rigidly again. He gazed around at the council, forcing back a snicker as his eyes rested on the strange cat. Why would there be a cat, on the council? Then again, they had been actively conversing with a full of himself lizard, so who was Behrad to judge. Moving along, he looked up to see the Banescale dractare staring down at him. [i]"I am Behrad Tumblecleft, from the Resting Grounds"[/i] he declared in a way that he thought sounded rather proper.

Behrad let himself relax a little, as his companions entered the room. He gazed around at the council, forcing back a snicker as his eyes rested on the strange cat. Why would there be a cat, on the council? Then again, they had been actively conversing with a full of himself lizard, so who was Behrad to judge. Moving along, he looked up to see the Banescale dractare staring down at him. "I am Behrad Tumblecleft, from the Resting Grounds" he declared in a way that he thought sounded rather proper.

The halt in his speech is so abrupt one has to wonder whether or not it was of his own volition. Judging by the reproachful side glare that the Banescale is giving his (probable) subordinate, it's probably safe to say that it wasn't. Sacrifice sighs before leaning forward in his seat, eyeing the scions carefully. "[b][i][color=A54E0B]I apologize for my companion's outburst. It was unnecessary and improper. I assure you that it won't happen again.[/i][/b][/color]" Theophanes visibly shrinks into his seat at that. "[color=A54E0B][b][i]But he is right, as much as I would enjoy getting to know all of you a bit better before the trials ahead, time is always of the essence, so it's best for all parties involved if we move things along. Do you know why you are here?[/i][/b][/color]" The question doesn't seem to be asked rhetorically, he wants to know how much information has been divulged to the scions. Precious little, of course, but maybe he doesn't know that. ____ Behrad barely manages to get his name out before the tense quiet in the courtroom is broken by the bang of a bejeweled fist on a table. All eyes turn to Theophanes, who's doing his best to act like he's not fuming on the inside. At first, it had seemed that his anger was directed towards the dractare who had recently entered the room. But as he whips around to face Sacrifice, it's clear who his ire was meant for. "Enough with these ridiculous pleasantries. We do not have time to dawdle and make friends, we're on the verg-" and then he stops.

Seraphina eyed the members of the council with little interest, her gaze carefully void of any emotion. She didn't want to give them a single ounce of sway over her, and her instincts told her that this was the sort of group that could break her in an instant if they so desired. She didn't wish to give them any signs of weakness.

He seems a bit more attentive than before, having gained some interest in the group. On the other hand, the scarred Skydancer begins pounding his fist against the table, laughing so loudly it's surprising that the building itself does not shake. "[b][i][color=3657C8]I enjoy this one![/i][/b][/color]" He shouts, wiping a tear of amusement from his one good eye. "[b][i][color=3657C8]Watch your back, Ceres! Her mouth is almost as smart as yours, might have to defend your title![/i][/b][/color]" The Imperial glowers at him, but doesn't offer much in the way of a retort. Sacrifice raises his hand to allow silence to settle over the room, his gaze meeting Seraphina's. His stare is even and calculating, but with a twinkle of emotion that is hard to place. "[b][i][color=A54E0B]You have a fair point, I just wanted to ensure that I didn't recount facts that you already knew,[/i][/b][/color]" he says, leaning back into his chair. "[color=A54E0B][b][i]But I do suppose it won't do sitting here and pointing fingers lest any information was muddled during our correspondence with the Eye of Gods. Very well.[/i][/b][/color]" He places his staff on the ground next to him, and it stands upright with no assistance, steepling his fingers, the council head leans forward to stare at the dractare before him. "[i][b][color=A54E0B]I'm sure you are familiar with the term scion, yes? A descendant of a noble family or oftentimes a young plant cut from a larger one, meant to grow apart from the main body. From what we have been told, you are scions of the divine, though it is unclear whether you are direct descendants of the deceased draconic deities or are merely... pieces of them somehow, we have yet to find out. Regardless, you have supposedly been gifted great power by the old gods, and this will be vital in the upcoming conflict against the Shades.[/b][/i][/color]" Ceres pipes up then, taking over with a bit more urgency than Sacrifice had possessed. "[i][b][color=004191]That's all well and good, but none of you are ready to face a conflict that severe. The issue here is that you, as far as we know, have not yet unlocked your full potential, meaning you are vulnerable and will be slaughtered should we try to pit you against the darkness threatening Sornieth. Croswell knows how to help you, and we have known for a long time... but we didn't know when you would appear. We foretold that warriors with direct influence from the gods would arrive, but we didn't know how, when, or who. Despite our efforts, we were never able to pinpoint any exact information. We knew all the background, but none of the pertinent facts.[/b][/i][/color]" She too, leans forward in her chair. "[i][b][color=004191]But things have changed now. He hadn't expected to become some sort of Shade-fighting warrior, and a deep part of him didn't exactly want to go down that path. But if this was what he needed to do, to continue his search and save the world or-- whatever they were going to do, he'd tolerate it.

Sacrifice visibly tenses at the name, while the other council members mutter quietly to one another. Sacrifice clears his throat before turning back to the scions, visibly thrown off his rhythm. To provide context, our scholars have done research into the mythos surrounding the old gods, we have cause to believe that they left behind relics, though we have no idea what kind. Our theory stands that if an individual with a connection to a deity were to wield that deity's relic, they could tap into their power. Recently the archmage of our college detected a sudden and worrisome spike of magical energy in the ruins of the town known as Triad Crossing, and we have cause to believe that a relic has found its way there. "It's not training, per se," says Sacrifice, pursing his lips as the gears in his head begin to turn. "Let's start with this: if you are truly demigods or otherwise in possession of some divine power, you should be able to prove this fact with ease. Croswell does not believe in statements without objective fact. If you truly are the scions, we can help you unlock your full potential, as it were. Once this fact is proven, we will be more than willing to share our resources with you."
