So, I was trying to farm coli today to get some genes for my new fuzzy children, and I haven't been having much luck trying to get the genes I need, let alone having them drop.
I just finished in Blooming Grove, swapped over to Woodland Path.
2 battles in, and..

You know your luck is terrible when you get an eliminate before a gene.

I've gotten lucky enough to get about 4~ pieces, including two wing silks! I've kept 3 and given away one. They're beautiful!

According to some posts, I think Woodland Path might be your best bet.
I wasn't sure if they were specific to certain enemies, Ice/Neutral, or they drop from everything.
