Hexaplex the hyena watched this little one hatch as she scavenged around the den for food. Though the others should have been watching the nests and the door against intruders, Hex slipped right in and snatched the hatchling straight from her egg debris. No not to eat, well maybe at first, but her motherly queen like status at her pack made her need to take the babe and her shiny coat back to their gold idol.
Now, this was a hard task; the hatchling compared to her was a small tank that didn't even know how to walk, call or even see yet. It took Hex a bit to find a way to drag the hatchling out but not once was she discovered.
This den site must be used to their calls, for once out and hidden with the hatchling, she yipped and called for just a bit of help. A few of her pack came eagerly to see her catch but a sharp ear nip got them from feasting on the drowsy dragon chick.
Under her wings, lifting her tail and a careful bite to the neck had the troop carrying their new princess back to their idol.
Of course, they only had her back for a little while before angered calls of dragons reached them. Most scrambled to keep out of sight but Hexaplex stayed right at the hatchlings side, tail thumping in happy.
When the red giant of a dragon stirred up their idol site, a yellow one after it sped ahead to try and circle the statue. A hard bite to the nose was like a mosquito to the full grown Mirror but it hurt! Letting go to protect the chick, Hex and the mother were at a stand off. What was the mother going to do but send her to her homelands god, here, with the Scavengers she was a golden living princess that would live free.
Mother and father growled, Hexaplex growled- her pack joining in after the quiet came through. Both wanted the chick.
A deal stuck was not silent. Mother Red lifted their statue to a chorus of panic barks, but she flew off the way they barged in- home. Father Yellow chirped at their chick, her nose blew up dust when turned. To go or stay, no idol but un harmed pack and a dragon chick; Hex was torn but when ready she barked orders and the pack followed the yellow as he lifted the chick with ease.
Clan Den now had a resident pack of Scavengers that were not to be eaten or their idol smashed. As long as Hexaplex had her gold chick, the dragons food and chicks were not eaten.
Its a silent truce, but one where both benefit. Scavengers were always look outs and if one got in trouble some where a Clan Den dragon would go help.
While I do not have a single set dragon for this, The Whole clan of Clan Den has a deep set love for the skies and the arcane and though some can't fly or not well, they all love to watch the stars above. Most are not of the Arcane magic, but that doesn't stop them from loving it.
