They say true masters of magic do not choose to be...magic chooses them.

"Three sisters, unrelated by blood sought to lead different lives. All had fallen on hardships on too young an age to understand the true workings of the world.

The first sister was abandoned. Of tricolored perfection, she lacked the luster of her sisters 2. For this she was abandoned, offered to any whom would take her. It looked as if her life would be to be a breeder, used until the time where she was sent to serve the gods in an endless loop of servitude.

Magic choose her. It knew in her the strength and promise she held and as she grew, the shape of the very night sky took to her wings. And so, she was chosen. The dark witch.

The second sister was loved. Coveted by all who saw her, she moved from home to home until adulthood. It was to be envied with how the world loved her...and yet, it was all so...hollow. Love to her should not be seen only by her beauty and so, though she was surrounded by many...she felt truly and utterly alone.

Magic choose her. For her humility, her lack of want of and greed of wealth and her desire to serve and help others. She was loved by the birds, the winter wind and blushing blossoms. She even found a mate whom to have children with and do as she always sought to do - give life back to the world. And so, she was chosen. The white witch.

The third sister lived in the shadows. An...odd child, with coloring of dirt and clay. She wasn't ugly...yet she wasn't pretty, a mix of ink and swirl. On her skin were crisp gems of lustrous blue and green. "Labradorite!" others would call her as they passed, thinking 'how beautiful!' and yet wondering 'what a shame' for something so stunning to be on someone so...plain.

Magic choose her. For her quite resolve. She would stand tall for those who needed her and she would look for a family of her own. She would learn and thrive and lead! She would take no labels. She would be no witch. And so, she was chosen. Labradorite.

And then - the sad unromantic couple...just in time for valentine's day LOL

Opaline had been promised all her life to a man of wealth. She from a child was beautiful. Unlike her siblings, her dark black lustrous skin cracked to reveal the purists of opal. Only strong seeded dragons were born with such gems in their skin and so she was a miracle. Many saw her potential and coveted her for all the wrong reasons. Her family loved her, they did but there were mouths to feed and others to tend to and the price for her marriage would allow the family to live in moderate wealth.
Less hungry mouths, more to go around, surely she could understand wanting to make that sacrifice for her family.

~

Ellian had never been like the other boys. He was gifted with unnatural sight. Coming from a rich family where power of will allowed you to rule all others, being born unique could either make or break you. For Ellian, it made him. Ellian had...many eyes. He could literally see from all angles...but that sight moved into the unknown. No one could lie to him, he could see in the way the seers did whom whispered sweet promises into the ears of the elite. It made Ellian aloof, unattainable...and so terribly alone.

When he had been young, he had a best friend named Ander. He was...fond of Ander. More than he realized he should be. To the point where he could no longer blur the lines between friendship and more...with someone whom he could never be with. Because of her.

Fast forward to their adulthood.

They wed, standing at the alter, both sets of eyes of ice and fire unreadable. The beauty and the beast, a twisted failure of a relationship. They could never love eachother - could barely tolerate one another. And instead of making it work they chose to suffer their own private misery day after day in regret, regret, regret.

Something was important about this land, he could just feel it, and so the territory that became the Tenbrook Clan's home became his Charge. He's in charge of bringing home the new clan members that have been summoned or tithed to the clan. In particular, he's good at navigating the Abiding Boneyard, where he was born. As a whelp, a great battle waged between his original clan and another and he was lost in the scuffle. Injured and half blind from fever, infection, or just injury, he wandered - though he doesn't remember how he arrived at his new home. All he remembers is a Guardian dragon of golden scale carefully scooping him up, and the gentle face of a Tundra healer some time later. His wounds that he got in that first fight never healed, perpetually infected no matter how well he keeps himself clean. His sight returned, though he hardly ever speaks given his wounds. It hurts to talk. As time went on, his wounds and infections mutated and branched out along his wings, and curious about these injuries, a Serthis Ambassador from the Abiding Boneyard came to inquire and research. The two spend hours together in comfortable silence... when Ghostfire isn't racing after the Mirror pack (and in turn, his mate) that roams the edges of the territory or bringing home safely their newest family members.

Sanrose is the first of the clan; he wandered for a long time, looking for his Charge. Finally, near the border of Dragonhome and the great ocean, a piece of land drew his attention, and he found himself at a place where ten (ten!) rivers and brooks came together and an old cave with old drawing in it. Something was important about this land, he could just feel it, and so the territory that became the Tenbrook Clan's home became his Charge. He spends most of his time lurking under the waters of a pond lately, guarding the entrance to the caves that hold his family.

Curiously, Ebonwind was hatched from an abandoned ice aligned egg, and it seems the much warmer temperatures have addled something in this dragon's head. He is cold and dangerous, with plenty of intelligence and cunning to do serious harm if he was not contained. And so the mages of Clan Tenbrook bound him and anchored him, though he is not alone in his solitude. He won over a mate with his chilling charisma, the daughter of two others in the clan named Whiteblood. Though she loves him, she knows better then to full let her guard down and lets the mage in charge of his spells know if there's ever a particular crack from the ice that binds him.

She wanted to make her mark on the world and allow her clan to prosper to the height of its potential. Thanks to her ambition, the clan was formed and forged out a living in the depths of the Leviathan Trench, living in a series of tunnels and chambers carved into the trench's walls (a number of these chambers are tended to by the clan's few Wind Flight members, whom see to it that they remain full of air so that those who are not of the Water Flight by birth can continue to exist down there in relative comfort). That dragon was Valda, a Shadow Flight Nocturne whom had been seeking out a clan to call her own - there were, in her mind, more benefits to existing as part of a group than there were to living alone and a clan as relatively isolated as this one was exactly the kind she'd been hoping to be accepted into. Sarrah soon learned why Valda had been having such difficulty being accepted into a clan... Valda firmly held the rather controversial belief that dragonkind would do better to serve itself above placing such blind faith into the great deities. It was not a popular view among those she had come across, with only her trusted Mistyhollow Agent familiar seeming to wholeheartedly agree with her point of view. Sarrah was somewhat sceptical of Valda's opinion and motives, but became more accepting of her as Valda put herself to work for the good of the clan. She did all she could to help the clan flourish, though making it clear she did so for herself and their benefit as opposed to acting on the deities' will or behalf. As sincere as Valda was in her work for the good of the clan, she was nothing if not persuasive. She befriended Sarrah more and more, spoke with her, convinced her into making decisions that she never even realised were not her own choices. Such was Valda's subversive expertise that, in time, she persuaded Sarrah that she would be the most prosperous choice for the role of clan leader. Valda was not so naive enough as to think she should be especially bold or obvious about her ultimate plans, however. So as to temper any rising scepticism that might've been about to rear its ugly head she had Sarrah remain of very high rank within the clan (namely serving as the clan's dominant hunter). She did, however, need another solid ally to back her as clan leader. One who was trusted by the rest of them... Scarlett became that ally. She had been a friend of the clan for quite some time, almost as long as Valda had been part of it. She was a member of their group but very rarely stayed alongside them. In fact, she spent most of her time on the move, traversing the various Flight territories in search of opponents to test her strength against and frequently returning to The Scarred Wasteland in particular; her mate was the leader of a Plague Flight clan with whom Sarrah's clan had been allied for some time. Seeing the opportunity, Valda took it as soon as she had the chance - she granted Scarlett the role of Vice Leader, as she was both trusted by her clan and their strongest connection to their Plague Flight allies.

Sarrah, Valda and Scarlett

The foremost of these three dragons was the clan's initial founder, along with her mate (a fellow Mirror named Prowler). Sarrah was a dragon whose every vein pulsed with ambition from the day she emerged from her egg unto the Tidelord's great element.

A great deal of time after the clan was formed a new dragon came to join their ranks. Scarlett became that ally. She had been a friend of the clan for quite some time, almost as long as Valda had been part of it. She was a member of their group but very rarely stayed alongside them. I believe him. Its not our fault you did what you did. Through tainted glass an ominous shadow steps lightly into my pherepherials. It twitches, its movements like that of a passively occurring glitch. I barely notice the shadow growing closer. everything around me grows slowly more detailed. The shadow is growing nearer and nearer. More shadows begin to crowd in the corners of my eyes. The objects that surround me appear to freeze over and every last detail is boldly disable to my eyes. The air around me seems to be trembling with the shadow's presence. Nearer still, it is now inches from me, but I see more than any normal creature ever should. Words begin to form in the air around me, in strange handwriting on the walls. Suddenly, it opens its eyes. All becomes dark, and I fall to the floor. The words are everywhere. On the walls, on the floors, on other dragons. Their thoughts and words are spelled out across their faces and bodies. There are many thoughts I wish I couldn't see. Father took me by the hand and led me down the snow-laden path we traveled so often. "Father, the letters...they are everywhere!" "What do they say?" The steam from the hot spring tickled our ears as we went down, down the icy spiral staircase. "...I'm afraid to tell you father." "Well, why is that?" "They say so many awful, awful things." At the edge of the spring, Father sat down and dangled his long legs in to the warm crystal pool. He thought for a moment. He wiggled his toes, making small rainbows that circled around him. The corner of his golden banner dipped llightly into the water a moment. Then father plucked it up and wrung the water out. Liquid diamonds fell into the glass one by one. Drip. Drip. Drip. "The words...they frighten you?" "Yes father." My father was silent "Why was it me, father?" "Hmm?" "Why did it pick me?" "Who?" "God." I am the watcher. Father says I shouldn't trust you.

"Father, the letters...they are everywhere!"
"What do they say?"
The steam from the hot spring tickled our ears as we went down, down the icy spiral staircase.
"...I'm afraid to tell you father."
"Well, why is that?"
"They say so many awful, awful things."
At the edge of the spring, Father sat down and dangled his long legs in to the warm crystal pool. He thought for a moment. He wiggled his toes, making small rainbows that circled around him. "The words...they frighten you?"
"Yes father."
My father was silent
"Why was it me, father?"
"Hmm?"
"Why did it pick me?"
"Who?"
"God."
"...sometimes, God chooses not to tell us why the rivers run south. But when they do, he promises to ride with us, to keep our boat steady and to meet us at the other side."

And then father's tongue was still.

Alabaster, The Lord In the Clouds

He has a castle made of cotton-like clouds, in a land far above the ground. He lords over the skies, in a place where even the most daring and well traveled dragons scarcely visit. His duty is to keep tireless watch over the dreams of every dragon that ever flew. Sometimes, though rarely, one can spot him walk within the mist of a mountain during a hazy, cool morning. Those mornings, it is as if the clouds are thicker, fluffier, more solid than usual, but you never realize until after, that the alabaster shadow could be the visitor you never expected. That night, your dreams will taste of vanilla and cinnamon cream.

There is a castle on a cloud
I like to go there in my sleep
Aren't any floors for me to sweep
Not in my castle on a cloud

There is a lady all in white
Holds me and sings a lullaby
She's nice to see and she's soft to touch
She says Cosette I love you very much
I know a place where no ones lost
I know a place where no one cries
Crying at all is not allowed
Not in my castle on a cloud
