TOPIC | Auction bidding etiquette?
I'm interested in bidding in an auction for a G1, but as I've never participated in an auction thread, I'd like to ask what kind of etiquette there is to bidding.

From what I've gathered from old guide threads, it seems that the minimum I should do to participate is to ping the appropriate people when raising the bid on the dragon. There is no minimum increase or auto buy, and I'm fairly certain I understand how snipe guards work.

Is there anything else I should be mindful of or things that are considered polite/impolite? Any advice is appreciated.

Read the rules the person holding the auction put up.

While auctions may have many things in common they may not have any depending the whims of the person holding them has decided. Anything from who to ping, minimum bid, autobuy, items used for bidding, currency and g:t ratios are all set by the seller assuming they got around to figuring out what they wanted. I've seen a few that said "you can also bribe me with X item/rare dragon to win the auction."

Auctions are just as unique as the people making them and not all players agree on what various terms mean. If anything is unclear to you ask the seller since they may be the only person who knows what they mean.

In general the one etiquette rule I believe should be universal is that any bid post should never be modified. Any change should be made in a follow-up post for transparency and accountability.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

It's also considered polite to not outbid by tiny amounts, like 1 gem or 1 treasure. If you see things like "don't be that guy" in minimum increment sections, it's referring to that. People generally consider it annoying more than anything because of the getting pinged when outbid factor and the fact it can extend the auction without actually adding anything.

Otherwise, just follow the rules set by the auction runner and don't be rude to anyone.
