TOPIC | Tips on Making Outfits?
Hi, I'm fairly new to Flight Rising and I was wondering where people got their inspiration for their outfits? Are there any tips on how to make my own outfits and what apparel look good together? Thanks :3

Welcome to FR!

Making outfits is something that you get better at with time. You just need to learn all of the apparel that is available and then you're able to put together more cohesive and beautiful outfits!

I'd recommend browsing the Dragon Share board and looking at other user's threads and lairs. Maybe you'll find something that inspires you!

@manmadeobject I like to use complimentary colors, colors that match my dragon's theme, or colors that will make my dragon pop! For examples.. If I have a dark dragon and want to make him stand out, I would use some bright colors. Here I use a bright blue accent (to match his eyes) and orange (blue and orange are complimentary colors) And here I have a nature themed dragon: It's really about what you prefer to do, and what you like!

While there is a game data base, personnaly ive found eclipse apparel very usefull for making outfits. https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/2205043/47#post_49448638
Having everything lay out makes finding apparel for a theme much easier

Also a theme can be anything, from having the same color as your dragon to a random job that you thin fits this dragon.

When I first started I used the dressing room to find different apparel. Also check the marketplace to see if anything there piques your interest. Sometimes I’ll see an item in there that I realize matches one of my dragons very nicely. Hope it helps and welcome to fr!

For my own outifts, I'll usually start with a rough idea of one apparel piece, or a certain color of apparel piece, I want on the dragon. Like the user dragonsongbird above, I might give a dark dragon bright apparel to stick out on them, or pick a color that is complimentary to that dragon, or matches an accent color in their genes. Once I find a "centerpiece" item to base the outfit around, I then research the item on the game database. Let's go with this girl, who I actually outfitted today: I loved this skin on her, but didn't like the green ear. So I looked at head apparel items, for something that would cover her ears, and came across the plumed headdress set: I loved how the soft feathery shape complimented the wings of the skin she has on, so I tried it on in a couple different colors. I liked several of them, but decided to focus on the fig plumed headdress for now. Then, I went to the game database to search for [gamedb item=25858]. On that page, if you navigate to the "gene colors tab", it will give you a list of the on-site gene colors that most closely match this piece of apparel. In this case, slate was the color that matched most with the headdress, so I then went back to the dressing room and searched all apparel with the color filter, like so: Then, I went ahead and just started adding every single apparel piece I saw that looked even mildly appealing, and added them all to the model. I then hid every single piece, and looked at them all one-by-one, to see what looked nice with the headdress and skin combination. Eventually I arrived at something like this: Hmmm, we're onto something here, aren't we? I wanted to experiment with different color combinations, so I searched for each apparel type and selected some of the different available colors that I thought might look good on the dragon. Then, I started mixing and matching colors to see what combo looked best, and uh-- Oof, yeah, this was a tough choice. I ended up going into some discord chats and asking for opinions, and I got overwhelming support for option number 5! So now, she's dressed like so-- My method for dressing can be kinda chaotic, but it's what works for me! Hopefully, this gives you some ideas as to how you can approach the dressing room in new ways!
