Chanterelle

It's in the depths of the tunnels stretching under The Shifting Expanse that she finds you.

Gasping for breath, you watch wearily as she approaches. Neither of you speak as she walks quietly towards you, her steps sure and confident. You falter as you take a half step back, and she hesitates in return, waiting for you to make a move. As you frantically look around for an escape, your eyes keep darting back to hers, the searingly bright irises boring into you.

She doesn't wait long to close the gap between you. You rear up, ready to defend yourself against this new threat... But to your surprise, she reaches for her lantern tied around her neck, raising it to inspect you. She looks you over once, then twice. She nods, and you release a breath you didn't realize you had been holding.

She ties the lantern around her neck again, the soft curls of her mane softly cradling its warm glow. "Come then." She waits for no response as she turns on her heel. The padding of her paws are soft as she does not hesitate to leave you behind.

"I won't carry you," she calls over her shoulder, the darkness threatening to swallow her form again.

It's best you follow quickly, before you lose track of her completely.
