So, every now and then I see these "First Generation" dragons in the auction house. A lot of the time they tend to be really pretty and I was wondering where they come from and how to get one.
Thanks

Coelum first gens or g1s are parentless dragons from unhatched eggs. you can buy eggs from the Specialty tab of the Auction House, though note that they are a bit pricey. unhatched eggs give you a dragon with completely random colors, so if they look nice, they got lucky. with elemental eggs, the element will match that of the egg, and the breed will be one of the four Plentifuls - Tundra, Mirror, Fae, or Guardian, with random colors and gender and all-Basic genes.
with Nocturne eggs (from the Night of the Nocturne event each December), the element is random, but the breed is consistent (Nocturne). colors and gender are also random for these, and they still only have all-Basic genes. Bogsneak eggs can be brewed at Baldwin's Bubbling Brew if you're a high enough level and with the right components, and function just like Nocturne eggs, just for a different breed.
not all g1s are pretty, in fact a lot of them tend to be fodder. the market is kind of oversaturated at the moment due to NotN just having come and gone, and there's a lot of g1s (Nocturnes particularly) available for cheap. personally i would advise finding an existing g1 dragon you like, rather than obtaining an egg and hatching it. the eggs are worth more than 99% of the resulting hatchlings.

@Coelum First Generation dragons are dragons with no listed parents. Your progens - the two dragons you started the game with - are examples, but they're special because they can't leave your lair except by being exalted. All other first generation dragons come from found eggs. They're items that look like this:
[item=unhatched ice egg][item=unhatched earth egg][item=unhatched wind egg][item=unhatched fire egg][item=unhatched water egg][item=unhatched light egg][item=unhatched shadow egg][item=unhatched lightning egg][item=unhatched plague egg][item=unhatched nature egg][item=unhatched arcane egg][item=unhatched nocturne egg][item=unhatched bogsneak egg]
The elemental eggs can be found by scavenging in their respective elements, and sometimes in the Coliseum. Nocturne eggs are only available during Night of the Nocturne - any you see on the AH now have been in someone's hoard since at least December. Bogsneak eggs can be brewed with Baldwin at level 16 and above.

They're dragons that people have hatched from eggs they've found.
You can find them by scavenging, in the coliseum, in event chests during Night of the Nocturne or you can make Bogsneak eggs at Baldwin's.
First gen dragons are always triple-basic. Normal, elemental eggs result in any of the four basic breeds (Tundra, Guardian, Mirror, Fae) in random colours. They will always be the element of the egg.
Nocturnes and Bogsneaks have randomised elements, but will always be those breeds.
Because the eggs hatched into Gen One dragons are "found", thus having mystery parents (or no parents, for Bogsneaks) they are parentless on their info. If you're buyjng one, always make sure they have no parents. Some people will call regular dragons Gen One to scam people!

Thank you
So I'm still a tad bit confused. If I find a egg while scavenging can it have any genes or will it be a triple basic? Also, how rare is it to find an egg while battling in the Coliseum? I've never gotten one while fighting.

Coelum all eggs hatch triple-Basic (no genes), no matter how they're obtained. and it's very rare to get one as a Coli drop, i think there's users who have been on the site for
years and still haven't gotten an egg drop (meanwhile others get it like once a month. that's RNG for you).

I'm really slow today, sorry.
I just ripped this guy from the Auction hose, she's a first generation but she's not basic?

Coelum her genes have been added via gene scrolls, and she's been breed-changed. most gene and breed scrolls can be found in the Specialty tab of the Treasure and Gem Marketplace, while others can be brewed at Baldwin's.
that's also a large factor to her price; Petals alone is 1500G, though gened g1s are very rarely worth the cost of what went into them.
