~ Fursona Hub! Woo!!
(Maybe I will make this thread pretty at some point) :')
Seeing recent posts on the old furry thread that was necro'd recently, I figured there might be enough interest for a thread like this! And it's sure a fun topic to talk about! :D
Here's a place where you can talk about your fursona, and fursona design in general! You can also talk about adjacent subjects, like designing animal or anthro OCs. ^u^
You
don't have to be a furry to post here (or to have a fursona in general)! I love furries and the furry community very much, but I dunno if I'm a furry exactly. I tend to prefer my sonas and animal-ish OCs to be less human than most furries seem to go for. '^^ It's cool though, I love furry character designs even if they're not what I personally enjoy to draw or represent myself with!

I'd like to occasionally post question prompts about fursonas in here. If you'd like to be pinged when I post one, you can hop on this pinglist!
Also, I thought it would be fun, like in the other thread, to have a list of different fursona species everyone has! Not gonna sort it by flight here though, but by species instead. c: If you'd like to be added to the list, make a post saying so and tell me what your sona's species is!

Didn't want to jam this into the OP since it's already pretty long, but gonna write about my sonas a bit ofc! :D
I switched up my sonas recently, I used to have a wild boar sona but in the end they started to feel more like an OC, so I moved away from using them to represent myself.
My current sona is a reimagining of my original sona I came up with when I was 14-15! They're a shapeshifting ghost dog creature. They used to have a unique design with some weird anatomy, markings and stuff, but nowadays I mostly just imagine them as a pure black dog with glowing white eyes. I don't have any art of them like this yet though! :0 Hopefully I'll find motivation to make some sometime!
I had an idea for another sona though, based on a funny little creature I saw in a dream recently, which is a mixture between a Eurasian red squirrel and a black-and-rufous sengi (elephant shrew). They'd represent a different side of me for sure, less spooky and more cute and lighthearted. ^^ Unlike my ghost dog sona I think I'd draw them anthro, but in a more storybook style rather than the common furry style if that makes sense. c:

Yooo my sona is a cat named Ash! She's pretty much exactly me but as a cat. I first made her as a Warrior cat OC back in 2010 so she's been through a lot of change. Obviously she went from having exclusively a feral form to having an anthro form and a very rarely used feral form. Here's her ref sheet and her Toyhouse link.

I have a few other anthro characters loosely based on people I have known over time, some of which have turned into 'wanna-be-sonas' of sorts - they embody traits I want more or that I want to develop. One of such is Bandit.
So yeah. I can go on and on about them and what they mean to me but I won't xD I have a lot more. If anyone peruses my Toyhou.se they are all in the Anthro folder.

proud fursona-haver with four completely animal sonas here! you don't need to have an anthro fursona for your fursona to count, fully feral is perfectly valid too.
my sonas are, in order of main/most used to least used:
- DreamWeaver; fox/lynx hybrid. DreamWeaver represents my creative mind, the part of me that I treasure the most. she's the character I draw when I want to draw 'myself'.
- Misfit; maned wolf/painted dog hybrid. Misfit represents who I want to be, as well as the parts of me that hold me back. she's a strange sort of contradiction that I am still learning to live with, and personifying it as one of my sonas has really helped me with the process. she's also the most fun to draw.
- Cameo; original species. Cameo represents my analytical mind, the part of me that loves deep diving into a series' lore and overthinking world building and character development. I made her an original species because I felt it would make sense for my worldbuilding rep to represent my favorite part of my original story's worldbuilding.
- Yenya; caracal/squirrel hybrid, also has a Coeurl (FF10) form. Yenya represents my motivation to get things done. I tend to jump between several projects and only rarely focus on one thing at a time, which is why Yenya has two forms; the hyperactive caracal/squirrel hybrid for when I'm motivated to do stuff but easily distracted and all over the place, and the calmer Coeurl for when I'm focused on one thing. ironically but also fittingly, Yenya is the only one I haven't drawn yet.
as a bonus, I also have a Pokemon sona, she's a Vulpix. I'm considering making a secondary pokesona who is a Rapidash/Mudsdale hybrid, but I haven't decided on a name or design yet. I might also redo the Vulpix since I'm not vibing with her current name as much anymore.

I'm happy to be added to the list; my fursona is a deer (specifically part chital, part whitetail, though right now that's not set in stone)! She's an imagining of myself in a fantasy world I'm building for my OCs, and she owns a library.
My other anthro OCs include a black-and-white cat, a raven, a robin, and a great white shark who's not quite developed yet! Their designs are probably also more animal-ish than some other furries, where I'll try to work their human traits around their species' anatomy rather than the other way around. (Think the style of Zootopia.)

I got two so far. You can add them to the list.
Xio, a Jakapil. This one's mostly just a representation of me.

Roan, a cyborg Yi. It's definitely a bit less me, much more extroverted and bold. And also living in a cyberpunk-y sci-fi setting.

Both are ferals. Roan is just rearing up for that pose seen above, but its default posture would be more bird-like.

I need to redo literally all their refs, but I've got a few sonas, all anthro!
One is sort of a noodle dragon named Reverie who's designed to be very spacey.
There's also a prima named Queenslayer who was very loosely inspired by Kirby Triple Deluxe (so loosely you can't really tell unless I outright say it..), and I received some sort of alien canine named Starla with a fursuit I was given (it's a super long story).

Yess I'm very much enjoying reading about you guys' sonas!! :D
@EWSpirit
She's lovely! The ear tufts and cheek fluff are such nice touches. ^^ Your art style is awesome too, I love how expressive your characters all are!
@LouckyKoneko
I very much love the idea of having sonas to represent different aspects of yourself. :0c It's a very cool idea and very creative I think! Your sona species all sound really cool and unique as well! I'd love to see them if you have any art to share (no pressure though)!
@Circumzenithal
Ooh deer sona, very aesthetic. :D She sounds really cool! An aside but one of my dream jobs irl is to be a librarian... I love books and organising things and helping people ahah! Very cool.
@Xionahri
DINOSAURS!! For some reason I wasn't expecting at all to see anyone with a dinosaur sona, but you've got two.. epic surprise. :D Love the species choices and the designs too!
@HydraSplatling
Noodle dragons my beloved. <3 I've never heard of primas before, is this an original / closed species of some kind? (Never been in that side of the art community online but some of the designs are very cool)! It's awesome that you have a fursuit as well. :0
-----
OH! Also, I doodled up my idea for a squirrel / sengi sona today! I love them very much already... they're a punk rock herbalist and probably a bit of a goof. :D

Here's my critter. I use their human form as much as anything as the form for my particular web persona, but their other aspect is a snake. Who happens to have wings. They're not any kind of dragon, a naga, an amphiptere, or a weresnake, and they're CERTAINLY not a feathered serpent.

saying this is a fursona is a stretch, currently they are nothing but a design but i made a spur of the moment dragon based on just the name briar which is my name. basically i am saying i don't know what the deal with them is yet at all but they have my hair for whatever that entails.
something anthropormorphic, well i am slightly more embarrassed by that but they're a pink tiger with four arms. they're a concept more than a design also yes i like pink a lot.
never considered myself a furry, just drew anthro and quad animals and dragons a lot.
