This sounds like an awesome project! I took a Being Young In (mostly East) Asia class freshman year of college and learning about video game culture in East Asia was fascinating

Definitely VR, and the indie audience is already growing, but I'm personally hoping telltale-style games will keep getting bigger.

I think VR is probably going to grow immensely as a gaming platform. Of course, consoles and PC are still going strong too, but VR seems to have a lot of potential.

11+ years, since I was really young.

In the realm of 2-4 hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Sometimes it's in the 30 minute to 1 hour range, and every now and again I'll do a 4+ hour session (which usually leave me feeling unpleasant afterward).

4. Would you consider yourself a competitive gamer?
No

5. What drives you the most to play video games?
Entertainment! I enjoy playing, the stories, and I also enjoy thinking about the process that must have gone into the making of the games.

6. Where do you think video games will go from here? (Optional)
It's a vague answer, but they'll follow the trend of what sells. Their markets are very established and video games aren't going to go away. Virtual reality is definitely going to be something in the future, there's a lot of interest in it. Micro-transactions are most likely here to stay despite how hated they are, and they may grow further. Digital distribution may continue to grow to the point where physical copies are all but faded out for certain systems.

Region: South East Asia Yes, considered one of the most or might be the most toxic server online. But then again, not everyone understands each other in this region. The language barrier is so strong.

The demand for video games is getting higher because of the broader player base and the increasing number of people owning gadgets. It's just going to get bigger.

6. I feel like it's starting to splinter between indie passion-projects and super-serious gritty 'high quality' games that feel more like interactive movies

depends on the game and day. Zelda games can suck up half the day, others not so much.

sadly they'll likely start just being VR copies of each other. all except Nintendo, probably. i wish there were more ones with a real plot and worlds, but alas all i see are fighting game!! battle royale! ONLINE FIGHTING GAMESS!!!
