Praise be for Our Lord and Saviour, The Meat Pineapple, has arisen!
[s]One of these days someone is gonna throw a fit about the whole religion thing and I am going have so much fun[/s]
Anyway, gonna be posting some weird restaurant dishes again soon, but first I wanted to share something.
This? Citrus foam served in a plaster cast of the chef's MOUTH. Served with NO utensils, the customer was expected to....lick it out. I have never felt uncomfortable with something I've found for this thread, just weirded out, but this?
This makes me uncomfortable.

And you know what makes this even more entertainingly painful? This was ONE course in a 27 course Michelin star nightmare. Here's a link to the full story, it's hilarious but oh so painful.
what i'm most shocked about is that 27 meal courses exist. how are you and your guests supposed to finish all that?! 3 courses already sounds like it'll fill you up 'till you're ready to burst, how the heck is anyone supposed to finish 27?!!?!!!

Going off the article, it was a tasting menu, which are usually designed with smaller but more numerous meals in mind as a way to show off the chef's talents or specialities. The whole point of a tasting menu is to introduce you to what the restaurant offers.
But even then, tasting menus are meant to A) have up to maybe a dozen dishes, although most have between 7 - 9, B) have dishes that are basically a smaller version of the main dish (for example, if the main meal of duck has two breasts, a tasting menu equivalent might have only one), and C) MAKE SURE YOUR GUESTS KNOW THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE ORDERING.
Apparently this place not only did none of those, it broke what is probably one of THE cardinal rules of restaurants - If a guest tells you they have allergies before the meal starts, you keep them in mind and accommodate that customer.
This place? Not only didn't serve one customer several courses because they didn't know how to accommodate her, they KNOWINGLY served another diner with his allergens MULTIPLE times because....they just didn't care to try and accommodate him, apparently.

that would be me if I didn't have the sense to keep my mouth shut [s]can you even shut your mouth on a website? anyways[/s]
Anyways I found an entire museum dedicated to gross food and while quite a few would get me whacked by the banhammer, I'd like to share frog juice, a traditional Peruvian drink where frogs are put in a blender and drunk.

My brain refuses to accept the frog part and only accepts the apples present turning it into tasty apple puree.

Alright, as promised, here's some more restaurant dishes that make you wonder whether the chef got any sleep the night before.
This one is a lawsuit waiting to happen...

French onion soup served in...an actual onion. Did they run out of dishes.

Beans on toast that you have to construct yourself. Guess the chef felt lazy that day.

Steak, mash and gravy in a martini glass. If this cost anything above £3, they got robbed. Shame, because it looks like if it were on an actual plate, it'd be decent.

Apparently this breakfast cost $15. I'd want my money back.

....I don't know what this even us, but bet it cost an arm and a leg.

The little basket idea is kinda cute....but not with chicken wings.

A burger in a mug...This is just...why? (Sad thing is, I'd probably still eat it)

You can barely get a spoon in there, HOW are you meant to eat that???

Yes. Let's put a Baked Alaska, a dessert that you SET ON FIRE, on a plate made of WOOD. Surely nothing can go wrong!

And that's all for today. I have more but my tablet is getting annoyed at me and I don't want to lose this post before I can post it. Again.
