I really like shapeshifters, especially ones that can turn into something that's a canine. Therefore werewolves (oh my gosh I REALLY love those- even worked in a haunted house as one), and kitsunes (I had several Roleplay kitsunes) are among my very favorites.
Although I also have a soft spot for Hellhounds (had a Roleplay character that could turn into one) and Temple Dogs (yes, I threw a Dresden Files creature in there, don't judge me- and yes I know they are loosely based on Chinese Guardian Lions and several giant dog breeds like Tibetian Mastiffs).
