I thought runes was a gem marketplace gene this whole time and have been hesitant about scrying dragons with it despite it being one of my favourite tertiary genes. I now have to revisit all of my project plans

Editing this post to share the revelations revealed throughout the thread. The genes that are numbered are the ones that multiple people were surprised by while additional mentions has genes that were surprising to individuals (if more people are surprised by them they will be moved). They'll also be moved if I am personally surprised by one despite not commenting myself.

i literally only just learned today that petrified/lode are gem genes!! i thought they were from arlo's this whole time, lol

if you look at it another way, big congrats...I wish I could wake up one day and discover one of my favorite gem genes is not actually a gem gene

This is actually the same thought process I had while getting Jade's genes. I thought runes was a gem marketplace gene for the longest time so when I first learned it wasn't I thought "did they change it?" and then I realized it's been a treasure marketplace gene this whole time.
