A hub of knowledge and study, patrons of the library have long-enjoyed the flow of information between the two studious hubs of Sornieth. Recently, an earthquake rocked the Enchanted Library on both sides. Collapsing walls in the ancient structure, it revealed a [b][color=#6E235D]vast and impressive network[/color][/b] of rooms, previously unknown to the caretakers of the Enchanted Library. The potential for great discoveries on the horizon, both Light Flight and Arcane Flight have sent in excavation teams to investigate. She carries with her a certain seriousness and imposing presence, thoughtful in her actions and words. When she speaks, it draws the attention of everyone in the room. Marjorie shines under pressure, with a coolness that's hard to crack. She got her start in archaeology when, upon setting out on her Search, she was led to an abandoned village. Originally thinking her charge lived there, Marjorie was surprised to follow the call of the Search to a locket she unearthed from the rubble. He loves to cozy up by a warm roaring fire with a cup of something warm and delicious and catalog his finds. Originally born in Dragonhome, Edward developed a natural interest in antiquity and moved to the Sunbeam Ruins to study conservation at university. After falling in love with the redwood-studded lands, he decided to stay and now teaches at the same university he went to in Lanternlea Port. She studied and worked on mapping out the aerial regions of the territory, and upon completion of her studies, returned to the Sunbeam Ruins to use her experience for the good of her history-ridden homeland. Tall and imposing, their two heads - One, the intensely literal going by Cass, and the other, more metaphorical, Cassius - frequently speak in hushed, whispery tones. They bicker and argue between themselves, their contrasting views complimented by an unerring willingness to drag any other unfortunate soul into it. Cassius' origins are unknown, as well as his age. They have a strange amount of first-edition texts, never revealing their original source. Their tent is filled to the brim with books that they parse through. If you wander in, Cassius will seize the opportunity to offer you a tea that more resembles sludge, made from their own unique tea blends. They mean well, but for the most part, Cassius seems off in their own world. Alwyn is a major fan of the other expedition members and tries to act confident out of fear of being perceived as clueless by the experts. Brimming with enthusiasm and readiness, Alwyn plunges in with all the confidence of someone who doesn't 100% have a clue what they're doing. Alwyn is a Light native and a student at the university where Edward teaches. They've loved history since they were young and hope to be an excavation digger once they've got enough experience. Speck tends to disappear for the whole day and manifest towards the team setting up camp for the night with their adventures unknown. Speck is a light sprite who was hanging around the Enchanted Library, enthralled by the building's magical aura. Seeing an opportunity for an adventure, she tagged along with the team. Heard it briefly floated that Luminax somehow did it, but the team decided that can’t possibly be true - Luminax is miles away. Cass - er, that’s what Cassius’ more uh, practical head goes by - argued for Lanternlea Port being on the coast and tectonic shifts occurring but Cassius - uh, the more, metaphorical self - brought up maybe it came from magical frequencies? Some readings they found in their research or…data? I’m not sure, they went on for a while and I kind of lost track. The librarians are telling us that this place is magically connected to the Starfall Isles. Cassius might be on to something there - I mean, we know about the Moonportal. It’s happened before. It could happen again. I don’t know, this is probably the most unusual dig I’ve done. I’m hoping it’s not too much of a headache. We went into the excavation site earlier, for a few hours, but there wasn’t - what? What do you need help with, Alwyn? We awoke to a messenger arriving at the library and being directed down to our repurposed archive room, now base camp. The librarians thought it important we know that they’ve received word from their counterparts in the Starfall Isles and it seems Arcane is sending their very own expedition team into their half of the Enchanted Library, having experienced a small earthquake in kind. The reactions to this were, well, mixed to say the least. It dawned on the group quite suddenly that this turned our little expedition into a race - for knowledge, for artifacts, for truth, even. Either way, it puts a pressure I don’t believe any of us desired. Marjorie and Cassius seem displeased and perhaps even more irate at the realization we may encounter the Arcane team down there. I think it could, in fact, be quite nice to meet fellow scholars! Perhaps even share a cup of warm drinks by a fireplace. I digress, I suppose. With that news in mind we hurried, quite rapidly, back into the excavation around midday. Through the exposed storage room and into dizzingly twisted hallways that more resembled tunnels. A small joy - the Light Sprite, Speck as Mina calls it, seemed quite curious and followed us along. Granted, when we came upon today’s discovery, she slipped through a crack and did not return until we were set to return to the surface, but her presence is quite welcome all the same. Obviously, with a library, we found a myriad of old storage units and archives that I would love to examine closely later. Those were of mild interest, for it’s nothing unusual. Unusual, indeed, is the large, domed room we entered, with a now-petrified Starwood Strand tree sprouting in the middle. Dear radio, it was [i]astonishing.[/i] When alive, it must have been a beauty, reaching so high with those delightful shimmering purple leaves the Starwood Strand is known for. Stranger yet, Marjorie took a trowel to the dirt surrounding it and found the tree had minimal roots. It was as if it had been transplanted, but to survive a journey such as that would’ve been impossible. Teleportation, then, it had to be. The room we found ourselves in seemed to be something of an apothecary once upon a time, covered in glass jars with disintegrating cork caps filled with materials we could only hypothesize what they possibly are. Little bowls, old bones that I suspect to be from a creature that lived long in the past, brewing stations. It’s unfortunate organics conservation is not my specialty - I rather excel with ceramics, stoneware, porcelain, and paper-goods - and so while I had some basic methods as I gathered them, I must do research to ensure they live long into the future. Radio, I must admit, the air felt different there. Even steadfast Marjorie admitted it. Could we have been in the Starfall Isles at that moment?
