I'll be honest, I once tried to revamp the thread a couple years back because this continuously happened, but then some stuff got in the way and I ended up just... not doing anything.

I'm definitely in favor of revamping the thread. I've been renting with Triskele for about five years, and it's definitely ridiculous how it's gotten these days. You're not likely to get an answer from Neji. I also tried to contact them when I wanted to revamp, and did not get any responses. They came back randomly and were active for a couple months and then left again.

Personally I also think if we restart it, we should have more than one host or some system for turnover. There used to be a second host at all times, and the first time Triskele was turned over, it was fine, but the most recent second host - TigerGirl - left and was never replaced even after several offers were made. I would definitely love helping with that aspect.

I don't want to sound too mean, but I first started contacting active Triskele nest users almost two years ago when this problem first cropped up. It's definitely my fault for not following through and starting a new thread, but Neji came back without any acknowledgement of anyone's concerns about a month later, so I let it lie again. It quickly fell into disrepair a couple months later. MustardCat (the only other fire nester) hasn't been active in months, if not at least a year. Trying to get their name taken off and get new nesters on has been a no-go. So I apologize if I sound really awful here, but I've been very frustrated and miss the way Triskele used to be run.

I said it last time this came up and I'll say it again, I'm all in for revamping the whole thing. The inactivity of the people supposedly "in charge" of the whole thing is not fair for anyone. There needs to be someone managing things that is active and will stay active, or if they can't (which is perfectly alright and life comes first, or you might just lose interest or w/e), pass the torch to someone else instead of just disappearing and leaving everything in a mess.

I’m all in favour of revamping! I’ve had to rely on Sides for quite awhile with my name change - I’ve PM Neji 4 times and no answer.

If we do revamp it I would love to help out more and possibly become one of the hosts. We had two hosts previously so I think we should maybe have 3 or 4 with people that are willingly to be backups should the “main” hosts go inactive or a break.

I think the spreadsheet was a good idea but it is really outdated so if we can think of a better system for it and have someone regularly go through it to make sure it stays up to date then that would be amazing. Currently it’s just a long list of names dating back years with no clear indication when that person last rented a nest only the word “nature” or “light” in its place.

@LucisAbsentia Honestly, you're understandable to sound frustrated. I've been nesting with TN for roughly half a year now? A little bit over? And in that time I've watched it continually be neglected in quite a few ways (and is exactly why I made this thread). I can't imagine how frustrating it must feel for long time nesters. I'm very much for having multiple hosts, or one main and 2-3 backups should the main one not be able to host anymore (should they take a break or suddenly can't be on FR). It's a shame to see that this isn't the first time this has happened, but hopefully it'll be the last that this discussion is brought up. I was thinking of maybe going with LucisAbsentia's suggestion as others seem to hold the same opinion: 2-4 hosts; main and backup. That way if somebody needs to take a break because of life, they can pass the torch and keep the program active without it dying off again. ----- @Mode It seems the current idea people are liking is revamp to stay updated and then have 2-4 people hosting as mains and backup! So that's very likely what we'll end up doing. I think for the spreadsheet, defintiely simplification. If I can manage it, I was thinking of automating the process and adding Google Form compatibility. Meaning nest renters could submit all their info (who they nested from, when, what Flight, etc.) and Nest Hosts don't ever have to touch the sheet. It would save a lot of trouble with learning how to work it and also clean it up quite a bit. The only thing that would still be manual would be updating the nest info on another tab (how many eggs, hatch date, who's renting, etc.), but I think that's a small price to pay for the rest of it being cleaned up.

I would agree with everything that's been said so far. As the main thread approaches its 3,000th page of requests and replies, I definitely think it's time for a refresh.

There are so many nesters on the list right now with starving dragons, I've regularly had to turn to other nesting services to get some elements. I also feel like requests have died down significantly, likely a result of people seeing how poorly managed it is right now.

As for the spreadsheet, it honestly feels like a chore to use. I'd be perfectly happy to do away with it altogether: for me as someone who rents from other Triskele nesters from time to time, getting a free nest once in a while doesn't make much difference to me. I don't bother keeping track of when I'm due for one, so I'm probably technically owed so many free nests it's not even funny, but I don't really care? I'm happy to pay the fee every time.

I unfortunately don't have the time or energy to volunteer as a maintainer or a nest host, but speaking as someone who has used the network for safe rentals for years, I'd very much appreciate seeing a revamp.

You will probably want to monitor the original thread for a while in order to redirect people to the new one, too.

Yeah keeping with what Twisted said, I'm not overly fond of the spreadsheet. The rental fee is minuscule as it is, getting a free nest every now and then isn't gonna sway anyone's finances very much. It's a nice gesture, but harder to keep track of than it has any right to be.

I'm in favor of revamping it as well.

I also think we should do some sort of check in relatively regularly, either via dm or scheduled check-ins in the hub - it's something we do for the other nesting service I'm with. Water has been good since Sharla10 joined but my friend who regularly rents has noted some dead elements. Having people say they are good to continue renting once every like, 3/4 months, might be a good way to help with this.

As for the spreadsheet any simplification is welcome, if we intend to keep it. I'm kinda indifferent to its continuation, as I think I may have given 2? 3? free nests over the 3 years I've been hosting despite seeing a lot of the same people on the thread. People just don't seem to fussed with saving the 5kt. (though I understand the sentiment/customer loyalty incentive)

I just wanna chime back in and agree with the ideas of regular checkins and doing away with the spreadsheet. Honestly I don't even mind making the fee optional, but I understand if not everyone wants to do that.

Checkins would be phenomenal in particular, both the other threads I nest for do Checkins and it works beautifully.
